Alien | In Space No One Can Hear You Scream

My attempt at a modern day trailer for Alien (1979), a lot of time was spent working on title cards, sound editing, and showing enough but not too much ( I gave in and showed the alien, sue me) It's not perfect but I'm definitely improving.

your trailers are really good!! i came here from the baby driver one and i think you have some real editing talents! care to offer any advice or mentioning what tools you like to use when doing your work?

That’s so incredibly kind. Thank you. I’d love to talk about it. I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the trailers, and I use trailer versions of songs or just music for the backing tracks, but it’s nice to learn how to dip in and out to suit how you want your trailer to go in terms of music structure leading to big moments. A riser sound effect works nicely in certain places. I started off many months ago interested in editing before I went to university to study film, and just simply from there, having been working on these little videos, you start to figure out little tips and tricks on how to structure a trailer better. I’m just learning and not claiming to be very good at everything, as I'm only 18, but I’ve been working a lot on making them seem less amateur and more professional, working on title cards, punchy moments, and sound editing. For the films themselves, I download them in 4K so I can skim through highlighting parts to use and not use. I downloaded the Alien Classic font online for the title cards as well. I’ve found that the more time I spend structuring a trailer (to various degrees of quality), it tends to benefit the project overall.
