What a great story. My fiance and I started collecting about 4 years ago and are well over 80 plants now! We too will soon have to build a greenhouse, wouldn't it be nice to have an actual glass house like his original greenhouse! Maybe not as practical though given the materials available today. To see a collection that started in the 1940's is a great treat, thank you so much for sharing.

87walker I have to agree that Lester is an incredibly helpful person, a true gentleman. Many people had recommended that I visit him and it was by far a worthwhile trip to Gilgandra.
over 90%, you must be in Australia. There are so many cacti in California in nurseries and the wild, it'd be near impossible to find a collection that came over 90% from another collection. Maybe only if one was inherited . amazing how there are so many great cacti in Australia. What can't you guys get?
