Im from poland and now we are learning about the american revolution. We learn about kosciuszko and pulaski. They are both polish heroes and the fact that us schools dont even teach this is disgusting.
In my experience, history classes in the US don't tend to focus much on the fighting itself and put more emphasis on the causes and the formation of the government. Same thing with the civil war, they'll go over the broad strokes but the details are barely touched upon.

China was able to hold off Japan's offensive war into Eastern Asia until the other powers could come and deliver the knockout blow(s). They were very important.
