We need another black president. Obama held it down. Dont care what people have to say bout him. He did America right. Not just pulling some bullshit to line his own pockets. Lets elect Michelle. Write her in please.
How bout the buildup with the cello though? Or whatever string instrument that is. Just wow. This whole masterpiece has hit me like a ton of bricks. In a good way.
The way this song is constructed is pure brilliance. It tells a very precise story, even the instrumental section and the silly ending. Context: RTJ 4 is the story of a revolution, as told through the framing device of a television show called "Yankee And The Brave". Every song was part of the show. By the end of the album, our two heroes are literally in front of a firing squad about to be killed by the state. The instrumental portion is initially meant to sound like they were executed, especially with the final words of Killer Mike. What the listener initially interprets as the sound of one's own death is interrupted by a television narrator. This is just another episode. The heroes are still alive. How they survived is left up to interpretation, but I like to think that the instrumental portion represents a battle and a rescue. Tonally, it's so bizarre but clearly intentional. The entire album straddles the line between rebellious hijinks and full-on anarchist teachings. By bookending the album with Yankee And The Brave, it not only provides an emotional palate cleanser after the super heavy themes of the last few songs, but it provides a sense of hope as well. Laughing in the face of a dystopian future, trivializing ones own near-death experience, treating all of this as though it's just another day in the life...I don't know. Something about that is just really powerful to me.

I fucking wish I wouldnt have to raise my kids in a time where this music is essential for understanding how life works. Mike Render and Jaime the new Avengers.
He’s never gone this fucking hard before. This album put the braggadocio aside more often for actual messages, so there are less clever moments of flexing and side winking but front to back “fuck the system” injected with 1000 kilos of heart and soul. Jaime and Mike are forever intertwined, and they’re old enough to know they’ll never not be friends which is undeniably wholesome and beyond obvious from the way RTJ hasn’t dropped the ball, not even close. Such an important album. I think it’s my favorite already after less than a week of nonstop listening.
uhkingdom if you think he’s never went this hard before then I suggest you listen to his solo catalogue which is much better than anything he’s done w RTJ. His solo work is groundbreaking hip hop albums especially Fantastic Damage and I’ll sleep when you’re dead.
Made it through the whole album intact, got to this song and started crying. "For the owners of a shredded heart even when you wanna fall apart." Line of the year along with, "The world broke my momma heart and she died an addict." Made me feel their pain and reflect on my own. Had to shed a couple tears for not just my pain but the years of it that we've all felt for a long, long time. I'm a bitch lol
Don’t worry about being a bitch. Being a bitch is not being able to say what you said and holding it in and making your harder and more emotional. Say what you feel and you’ll see that we all feel the same. We all bitches right now. This song is a spiritual release. This album is a masterpiece. 10/10.
In my opinion this is instantly one of run the Jewels greatest songs . It breaks the classic formula that they have been doing so well for years and elevates them to new heights .One of el ps best verses too
What do we expect right? they be running and dropping Jewels everytime its tmie to drop an album..... in the booth and outside, which means so much more
Shit gave me chills when Killer Mike says, "Dead serious, it's a chore not to let myself go insane It's crippling, make you want lean on a cup of promethazine But my queen say she need a king, not another junkie, flunky rapper fiend" Drugs are so glorified with all the younger kids. Rapper after rapper dying from drugs. This resignates with me because ive been there!! Coming up on 13 years total.. Thank you RTJ
This song is genuinely about to make me cry. Edit: This song DID make me cry. Seriously, I’m surprised this track hasn’t had as much recognition as most songs on this album, but what can you do when every song on this album is banger after BANGER.
I don't know, but songs like this can trigger an event crisis, a point where you choose to endure the growing pains of growing or apathy. I'm so fucking thankful for this.
"I need a husband more than the world needs another martyr" wow, that line is incredible Edit: Definitely my favorite song on the album, brought tears to my eyes

This song hits me in my fucking heart. Killer Mike takes the pain of being Black in America, and just puts it all into his lyrics in this song. I cry almost every time I hear it. Thank you RTJ for helping me access the complex thoughts and feelings I have, but can't quite put into words.
Christmas Fucking Miracle, Angel Duster, Report to the Shareholders/Kill Your Masters, A Few Words for the Firing Squad...yeah. If there’s anything El-P and Mike know how to do is close out an album with a raw and emotionally resonant track with fantastic production.
The streak of RTJ mashing it out of the park on the last track of every single album continues, some of their best - A Christmas Fucking Miracle / Angel Duster / Report to the Shareholders and now A Few Words - these guys really know how to close strong, amazing album, 2020 needed this.
I got to see this live a few days ago in Milwaukee. I am still in awe. I tried to hold back the tears but these lyrics are too good and relevant. Much love to my favorite group of all time. RTJ4 should be the soundtrack of the revolution
To describe a song as pure fire has been cheapened by overuse of the unworthy. This song is the Interim Magnum Opus of the Yankee and the Brave, and will remain king until RTJ5 or the end of the age. Bravo!
You know it's a good album when you don't want the last song to end until the next one comes and as soon as the last track ends you find yourself right back here. This album is Dope AF!! Thank you RTJ!!
Best album this year , in all categories, the journey how effortlessly took me from track to track was perfect.. from 1st track to the last ...10/10 best MUSIC album all categories not just hip hop .. classic
This is an amazing track. I normally only listen to black and post metal, never really having come into contact with hip hop before, but my first serious foray into the genre with RTJ has been eye-opening. Where has this been all my life?
@@amilly2749 you are so wrong if you believe in this communist ANTIFA garbage. Only kids sheltered in America could be so stupid. No family structure means no success, more gays means less kids. More abortions mean less kids. More drugs mean less kids. It's out of hand.
You guys are changing my freakin life over hurr. RTJ is not only the best thing going on in hiphop today, it's one of the best things I have discovered in life period. Their lyrics tell it how it is, and resonate more to me than all the mumble rap in the world could hope to do. Whatever it is that you are doing guys, keep it up! The world needs this shit.
This song could not have dropped at a more poignant moment, and the mixing on this track gives me chills. I hear instrumental inspiration from INXS - Never Tear Us Apart, and the Peter Gabriel cover of David Bowie's Heroes. Combining the messages of these three songs together..............................damn.
This is the kind of album where every song is better than the last, then you restart the album and the pattern doesn't start over... just better and better with every minute listened. THANK YOU RTJ.
This song is a fuckin' masterpiece. Mike and El giving their last words to the firing squad... the *CRAZY* production leading into that fucking PHENOMENAL outro. And then the Yankee and the Brave album outro theme. Ugh. We don't deserve this right now.
@@pdigi3179 The cold vein to start👌👌
P digi317 been a fan since fan dam, he goes hard in those but the extra heart in this makes how hard he’s going soar even further imo
Cameron Dolliver yeah the production Cold Vein is still ahead of its time.
So much pain in that sax fuck I'm crying
Made it through the whole album intact, got to this song and started crying. "For the owners of a shredded heart even when you wanna fall apart." Line of the year along with, "The world broke my momma heart and she died an addict."
Made me feel their pain and reflect on my own. Had to shed a couple tears for not just my pain but the years of it that we've all felt for a long, long time. I'm a bitch lol
Me too. I love this album. I got to this song and teared up and then cried. The lyrics. The music. That mother fucking ending.
Reading this comment as my eyes are welling up. Tear this shit down. From the inside.
Facts. Killer Mike crushes it, and my heart. "It'd be a lie..." dope AF
Funny, I broke down first track and cried all the way thru. Tears of joy, rage, and sadness alternating.
It breaks the classic formula that they have been doing so well for years and elevates them to new heights .One of el ps best verses too
This is the masterpiece of the masterpiece.
I know the whole album is out but i can't even get past this track, one of the best tracks of all time imo.
I get the vibe that this is the last RTJ album from this track. Sure sounds like it at least, what a powerful close to a great album.
Haven't heard a bad verse from RTJ always quality music
What do we expect right? they be running and dropping Jewels everytime its tmie to drop an album..... in the booth and outside, which means so much more
Never THAT 😮
Took me this long to understand why its Yankee and the Brave. NYC and Atl 🤦♂️ lmao
Oh shit i thought elp was the yankee and mike was the indian, but you right... Sports are ghey!
Shit gave me chills when Killer Mike says, "Dead serious, it's a chore not to let myself go insane
It's crippling, make you want lean on a cup of promethazine
But my queen say she need a king, not another junkie, flunky rapper fiend" Drugs are so glorified with all the younger kids. Rapper after rapper dying from drugs. This resignates with me because ive been there!! Coming up on 13 years total.. Thank you RTJ
don't forget "I need a husband more than the world needs another martyr" genius
Easily the best fucking song on RTJ4
RTJ4: the anthems of a new age
And the anthems of the new rage
@@billrobinsonmazda Took the words out of my mouth 👉🤛
❤️❤️❤️
And now the whole world's a stage
I just got off the phone with the based department and I can confirm from the chief that this album is, in fact, it.
More relevant than ever right now
Confession: I like the last bit enough to wish it was a whole song.
IMO: It sounds like a (catchy) parody of a cheesy sitcom intro.
This song is genuinely about to make me cry.
Edit: This song DID make me cry. Seriously, I’m surprised this track hasn’t had as much recognition as most songs on this album, but what can you do when every song on this album is banger after BANGER.
What is your favorite RTJ song? Whichever one is playing at the moment!
I don't know, but songs like this can trigger an event crisis, a point where you choose to endure the growing pains of growing or apathy. I'm so fucking thankful for this.
Things are happening. There’s no stopping it.
"I need a husband more than the world needs another martyr" wow, that line is incredible
Edit: Definitely my favorite song on the album, brought tears to my eyes
That was powerful
@@hitman6191 These types of songs are always my favorites on their records. I love the bangers too but these make me ponder everything. I'm so happy to El and Mike get their overdue shine, it's been a long time coming. Two absolute legends!
I got goosebumps. I ain't even American or black.
I purchased the album and was delivering in my truck listening to it for the first time and almost had to pull over this song hit me so hard at that line.
All of their closing songs are so good.
Maybe i'm just really high, but I cried at the end of this track.
dead sober, and still wellin-up by the halfway point in El's 1st verse.
Bruv, own it... this is some emotional shit in emotional times. ✊
Me to
Truth hurts but it also can heal
No. Im sober af and i did too.
"You ever notice that the worst of us have all the chips?"
"It really kinda takes the sheen off people gettin rich."
RTJ every day heretics in the eyes of the state religion; The Church of the Almighty Dollar.
Do you read?
@@michaelcomer1645 Are you trying to imply he/she missed the meaning?
@@TheSilence1 he,s spitting ideas... i'm certain RTJ wants us to think on our own
the greatest honor is to expand on what the author wrote
question even!!!
This is going to be in the books for being the most important hip hop albums of all time.
Just you wait! This is legendary!
Killer Mike & El-P know just what the people need right now.
That saxophone solo is giving me crazy chills... this entire track does actually.
This album is great....
OUTRO
"This is the story of a couple small-time hustlers
Framed by crooked cops and forced to make a run for their lives
Nothin' but a bag of money, a stolen Buick Grand National
And each other to unite
They ain't friends, exactly
These guys have a better chance of killin' each other
Than beatin' the odds
No sir, they're brothers, and when the chips are down
I don't really think you wanna bet against
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Oh, Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave
Yankee and the Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave, Brave"
Is it bad that I want this to be a buddy heist show starring Mike and El?
Oh okay, so it's not an alternate timeline remake of Pinky and the Brain. Noted. :)
Whose voice is on the outro?
bvrsdad asap ferg
bvrsdad pretty sure it’s El’s
This song hits me in my fucking heart. Killer Mike takes the pain of being Black in America, and just puts it all into his lyrics in this song. I cry almost every time I hear it. Thank you RTJ for helping me access the complex thoughts and feelings I have, but can't quite put into words.
The last song of all the RTJ albums always crush, Angel Duster from RTJ 2 being my favorite. But man this song rocks my soul.
Haven’t been this happy since Christmas 2016
They have finally returned, when we needed them most. Have a nice day 👉👊
kiewanface you too my fellow jewel runner stay blessed stay safe and stay grinding
It's a motherfucken early Christmas miracle!!
I love the rtj “state of the world” album closers. Like they really come from the heart and leave you feeling empowered
The time is ripe for this to blow up. RTJ4 needs to be heard by everyone.
Let's fucking goOOOO
WOAH It’s Zalinki uWu
wasnt expecting to see zalinki but its lit
soon
Jesus! The beat is just disgusting 🔥
Thank you El-P
It's so sick I might need a 'rona check later.
I got to see this live a few days ago in Milwaukee. I am still in awe. I tried to hold back the tears but these lyrics are too good and relevant. Much love to my favorite group of all time.
RTJ4 should be the soundtrack of the revolution
Thank you guys for this, seriously. My brain needs it
This is incredible. Made me wanna sing, cry, fight, dance and scream, all at a time. Chapeau.
This whole album is amazing. Every word, every beat, I felt it. 2020's anthem👉🏾🇿🇦🔥🤛🏾
Killer Mike is sooooooooooooooooooooo dope......people better RECOGNIZE! And the saxophone piece....mannnnnnn! Get em' Killa' Kill!....100%
Yess Don’t forget bout El-P!!
RTJ 4
Let's go!!!
In a better timeline, Yankee and the Brave would be a plot leak for GTA 6.
idk what that other guy's on about but now i really want to play as killer mike and el-p, running around and fuckin the cops up
@@renatatostada3318 same here
Best album this year , in all categories, the journey how effortlessly took me from track to track was perfect.. from 1st track to the last ...10/10 best MUSIC album all categories not just hip hop .. classic
Yeah its crazy how even the end of this track leads back to track #1.
Just leave it on repeat forever!
This is probably my favorite track on RTJ4, easily the one I come back to the most!
This is perfect timing. Thank you Mike and EL now its time #killyourmasters
no one's talking about that yankee and the brave outro???
I can’t get it out of my head. It’s haunting
That shit is dope
pinky and the brain😁
So dope!!!
I'd pay for an album from them in style. Granted, I'd pay for any kind of album from them.
RTJ4!!!!!
That sax towards the end... like a ton of bricks! This whole joint is powerful
Yep, they've done it again. This album was one hell of a ride and made 2020 a whole less shitier, which is quite an achievement!
This is an amazing track. I normally only listen to black and post metal, never really having come into contact with hip hop before, but my first serious foray into the genre with RTJ has been eye-opening. Where has this been all my life?
This is like Jeopardy from RTJ2! Also im using this as my fight song if i ever fight a final boss in my games.
Shit, this is making me wanna just fight my boss
Fascist leaders are the final boss. FIGHT! ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏿
@@amilly2749 you are so wrong if you believe in this communist ANTIFA garbage. Only kids sheltered in America could be so stupid. The people that came here legally and even illegally fled socialist countries for a reason. You are being manipulated into destroying society for the elites is what is funny. No family structure means no success, more gays means less kids. More abortions mean less kids. More drugs mean less kids. It's out of hand.
Thank you El-P and Killer Mike. Your honesty is shaping a generation.
You're. But yeah they are. (i'm wrong)
@@karanbirsinghbhullar no he's right. Using You're it would read "you are honesty is shaping a generation"
Thank you. We really needed this right now.
Love from MN.
MN love comin back from CO. My wife is MPLS native, whole family and all our friends are there. Stay strong, use this music. We are with you. 💜
If ever there was a time for this, for pushing forward, for proud and righteous truth. It's now. RTJ4!
Today is a great day. RTJ4 baby
This is the kind of album where every song is better than the last, then you restart the album and the pattern doesn't start over... just better and better with every minute listened. THANK YOU RTJ.
I can just imagine kendrick lamar just absolutely tearing up the jazz instrumental
no
Damn I got chills just reading that
God that’d be so dope
The jazz instrumental is a solo by el p. You can't hear him rappping but thats him letting you just listen to the music for once.
Chills all throughout, the progression, the lyrics and it’s emotional weight, damn....
Umong this pandemic, we have this jewel made of liquid fire.
Damn destiny check
Godspeed brothers & sisters.
Mr. E ???
Run the jewels is here and "they can never tear us apart"
“Old dudes” KILLIN IT AGAIN!!!!!
What an amazing producer El-P is. One of the GOATS
Sounds like 2012 El-P production and I love it
bro this song will play when the world ends or when it will be born anew.
RTJ FOR LIFE
Finally!! RTJ 4, tears of joy 😭😍😍😍😍
I love it when they put saxophone in their music.
Thank you two for everything you do for your fans, for your communities, and for the world. Run the jewels is the stuff of legend
Every time I come back to this song it brings me to tears. Thank you Killer Mike & El-P. Never change.
This touches my soul thank you for this gift
This song is a fuckin' masterpiece. Mike and El giving their last words to the firing squad... the *CRAZY* production leading into that fucking PHENOMENAL outro.
And then the Yankee and the Brave album outro theme. Ugh. We don't deserve this right now.
"For the holders of a shred of heart even when you wanna fall apart
When your surrounded by the fog
Treadin' water in the ice cold dark
When they got you you feelin' like a fox runnin' from another pack a dogs
*Put the pistol and the fist up in the air*
*We are there, swear to God"*
