I’ve got a radar for my son (8), and I first put up 1/2” OSB targets, then 1/4” plywood, and now 1/2” plywood to encourage him to break by taking the hardest shots he can, every shot. He has broken the 1/2” within 100 shots, so now I’m heading towards 3/4”. I’m impressed by how hard of a shot an 8yo has achieved by just encouraging him to shoot his hardest on every shot.
That's a way of doing it. Only have him do say so many shots just before he fatigues. Every week have him add 1 shot extra. That'll increase power and it's known as progressive overload. Also great to use when working out 😊
So you’re shooting just under 60 MPH standing still with no forward momentum. Do you think this would be faster on ice because of movement and less resistance than a shooting pad? It would be interesting to see how these results translate on the ice.
Yes my shot would be quite a bit harder if I was skating and shooting off ice. I would be curious to know if the 2 MPH gain would have been larger on ice if I tested before and after on ice as well.

Im working on muscle memory for my shot right now so would it be better to do a lot of shots or less but more power. I normally shoot somewhere around 100 pucks a few times a week
There's great workouts Hockey training has. Also add some conditioning workouts. You can do multiple muscle groups working out entire body 2x a week. Conditioning training 2x a week and stretching exercises. Do full body using dumbbells an body weight Monday. Tuesday conditioning Wednesday stretches. Thursday rest. Don't forget stick handling drills Friday full body body weight exercises conditioning exercises Saturday rest Sunday repeat. Do stick handling drills for 1 hour every day workout at night. 😊😊 just an option to try. Do these workouts on days that work for you be sure to rest. When doing body weight exercises do abs as well.
You should practice off both feet. I've been doing mostly outside leg shooting as I grew up mostly only shooting off my inside leg. Watch Auston Matthews shoot... majority of the time he's going off outside leg.

What mats do you use for off ice stick handling and shooting, I am looking to get a few things for off ice training and am not sure what I should get.
Everything aside, those shoes are sick.
Can you post your workouts that you did per week?

Practice shooting 2x per week and train for strength and explosiveness. Check out other videos we have at our channel and our app Hockey Training TV

do you do personal training in london asking for my son
Hey, no sorry but we have an app Hockey Training TV that he would probably love. We also have some on-ice camps coming in the summer
👍
Strange you are shooting from left to right foot. I’d shoot to the inside foot and load up the stick 🤷♂️

Don't disrespect the 5030! Generations of players were raised on that stick! :D
