I had thee exact same problem with my floor it would’ve been best to leave the tile and screed over it because what’s under the tile is years of adhesive cracks chips etc either way that is not flat if needs to be levelled screeded that lvt is similar to laminate that came out in the late 90s except it’s even better quality and waterproof anything covered in adhesive is not flat once you remove tiles remember to lay the tile they might’ve added more adhesive to certain sections to make it all level glad you listened to the fitter or your floor would’ve cracked moved and no longer be waterproof because of any separation

Oh I hope there wasn’t asbestos in the tile when you guys took it up. In older homes tile floor that’s been down for that long usually test positive for asbestos
One of our friends mentioned that! We did wear masks when doing it so hopefully that would’ve protected us abit 🤷🏼♀️
