Wow, wow and more! What a blog! My wife and I have kayaked, sailed the Caledonian canal, walked the west highland way, Island hopping and so on, even toured Scotland in our motorhome, yet never seen the sights what you guys have seen and shown us, even the location/s we could not figure out where you guys were? You got the best of the weather for sure and I envied your journey! We are is our 7os now, so no way could we walk in your footsteps! I watch blog/s about Scotland every night on my laptop, I have to say - this was the best ever that I have watched! I love my Scotland, I breath Scotland! I have a timeshare up in Rannoch which we go to every month of May - have done for 35 years, we then drive here and there, even take the train to Fort William! We used to go to arisaig with our kids when we were all younger every year and visited the surrounding villages! Took the boat to Skye! We are all blessed in being born Scottish and being able to venture out into the hills and glens and even climb the odd mountain! My memories are endless! So glad I tuned into your blog guys! Take care and I hope to see more of your blogs! Fabulous!
Forget Hell. All I see is heaven! Thank you both for this stunning video. As with all the wonderful UA-cam channels we can watch - there are people with a sad life who feel compelled to give a thumb down to simply wonderful moments. Wish I could do what you do.
If everybody liked the outdoors then there would be no room for me. So don't forget to tell everybody about the cold damp miserable weather you get when out doors in these lonely frightening dangerous places.
@@Normanskie Amen to that. it seems the more miserable the conditions the happier i am bound to be. I mean i do enjoy my comfortable sofa and warm blankets and indoor cooking at the end of the day..... but there's also something very fulfilling about being outdoors and living life. also helps you better appreciate your ancestors struggle. they didn't have a choice ...and I imagine they're looking down on us, shaking their heads in disgust, as we deliberately give ourselves bruises and blisters for fun.
Another fantastic adventure. Very cool to kayak, camp, hike and climb in such a gorgeous place with the best weather. Jurassic Park...lol...stunning! You look like you're on top of the world. Porpoises at the end was the icing on the cake!
I'm already in love with our wee country, but I love watching your videos as it inspires myself and many others to experience it for ourselves. When I'm in the mountains on my bike I always feels the emotion of the mountains and surroundings and somehow I feel you get that across on your videos. Absolutely stunning. Keep it up. :)
Trying to edit that trip in less than 40 mins would definitely do it an injustice. Easily one of your top 10 offerings. Scenery was outstanding and the decision to kayak in added a new dimension. Really enjoyed this Murray, thanks for sharing and stay safe
Thanks Dessie - really pleased you mentioned this - I was worried this was going to be way to long and people would find it boring - hoping it goes down well as it was a great trip :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
@@ScotlandsMountains A rout of this beauty and quality of filming would only start to feel ''too long'' if you were over 2hrs...I'm quite sure if you looked out the pieces not used you could break this outing into a few more pieces and make a bit of a longer mini series...what a pleasure...Thank you Murray...just spectacular 🧗♂️🚣♀️🐬🏕😁
I always appreciate it when you make the effort to document the whole adventure from start to finish: it makes me feel I've come along with you. I just watched this with a morning cuppa way down in Hampshire, dreaming of mountains before a day's work - but I'm now trying to arrange a relocation to Scotland. Wish me luck, and I hope to see you on a peak some day!
Was going to watch this on the kindle but decided to go with the 55 inch tv and wow am I glad I did. Those views. Absolute belter Murray. Best 40 minutes in a long time. Thanks for taking the time to edit and share this one. Stay safe and here's to the next 40 minute vlog.
That was wonderful! Since leaving the army (Scots DG) and living in Berlin getting back to Scotland regularly is not so easy, so you have no idea how your infectious enthusiasm and appreciation of the scenery and weather in a rainy pandemic affected city puts a huge grin on my face! Many thanks and keep having fun!
I travelled down that road at the beginning of the video and can vouch it's bonkers! I was in a VW T4 and wasn't sure if I'd get back up, Awesome film as always..
Not only did I get the wrong mountain range I was even looking the wrong way on the map with the wrong loch in the background. Thanks for sharing this epic adventure and introducing me to this area.
hope you enjoyed the video, Knoydart is such a great area in Scotland ! hope you get back to Scotland at some point take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
First class video again mate, and the scenery from those mountains was something else. My brother and I took a walk out to Barrisdale and stayed in the bothy a few years ago....so your bit of camera work also the narrative brought back a few memories. We didn't make it into the hills, that was to be a mission for a later date... Thanks for sharing the adventure, and cheers..
My butty & me, after arriving by train, took the post bus from Spean bridge....to Kinloch Hourn.... it was 2005, I think.... and it was a short wheelbase Land Rover with the most uncomfortable slatted wooden seats I've ever sat on... the journey getting there was an adventure in itself... the Postie was great fun too... when we got out, shaken, but not stirred at Kinloch Hourn, the fresh smell of the sea hit us and was fantastically overwhelming.... I wish I could have bottled it and taken it back home to South Wales with me... we had a fabulous hike along the path to Barrisdale, climbed one of the nearby mountains and stayed overnight in our tents before making our way along the path to Inverie the next day, where we visited the Old Forge, Britain's most remote pub, to celebrate our trip. We then stayed overnight in an old shooting lodge that had been turned into a hostel.... The Knoydart peninsular is a truly fabulous place, perhaps the last wilderness area left in UK.... even the boat trip back to Mallaig was fabulous, with great views of the surrounding mountains.... go there.... Sadly though, the post bus to Kinloch Hourn is no more....
Very enjoyable Murray, took us 5 hours or more to walk into the campsite on a very hot March day but oh the scenery. Again you brought back great memories. Atb to you and Gerry
Superb Murray. I really enjoyed this. A wonderful mix of loch and mountain photography. Knoydart is most definitely on my list of places to explore , once the local lockdown in my local area allows. I welcome the extended length of this piece, nicely reflecting the time tht you and Gerry took. For me, this is one of your best! Keep them coming.
Thanks Roy, its well worth the extra mile to get there, some amazing mountains and a feeling of remoteness from the outside world :) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Thanks for a great video; it brought back some memories. In my student days (nearly 50 years ago!) I hiked across the Knoydart Peninsula in very fine weather and climbed Luinne Bheinn and Lahdar Bheinn, and maybe a couple more I've forgotten. I stayed overnight at a small private bothy that cost 50p, but I don't think it was at Barrisdale. It's probably gone now :-(
That sounds like a great adventure and one that you have remembered over the years . Knoydart is a special place, love the hill walking and mountains in that area. Just did a 4 day adventure their beofre Christmas so watch out for the video (if you like Knoydart :) Take Care, thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you when it arrives :) Murray

Well that had everything. Great scenery as usual. I’m intrigued by the campsite which I found on Walk Highlands can be walked into. The vistas were fantastic on what was clearly a great day. Keep up the great work, Murray 👍
Yes the estate try and encourage camping on the campsite (if that makes sense ). There are a few houses here and they ask not to camp in eye shot of these . The first time I visited Ladhar Bheinn we bivvied high on the hill . The campsite is pretty decent although the bothy was closed due to Coivd when we visited this time around. Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Excellent video Murray, done this in September 2006 we got a boat from Arnisdale did Luiinne Beinn (loony bin) and Meall Buidhe overnight camp at Barrisdale then Ladhar Bheinn the next day you have rekindled memories, bizarrely I was at Armadale ferry terminal on Isle of Skye across from Mallaig on the 6th August about 11:20 to 12, with my binoculars I was watching people on the top of Ladhar Bheinn then shortly after I saw your video on instagram so I think I was watching you, you did the right thing as the next day the weather turned to heavy rain about 2pm and was heavy all the way back to south of Glasgow not a good day to be on the Scottish mountains, keep them coming, take care Stevie. Lol just watched your other video walking in the rain the next day, well done Murray
Hi Murray, what can I say brilliant. As a boy ( long time ago 1981) part of my apprenticeship was to do an outward bound course call a Skye Trek. It involved walking from Loch Eil to Glen Brittle in Skye. I distinctly remember wading through Loch Hourn at low tide to save us 4 miles around the edge of the loch. What an adventure, your film rekindles so many memories. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks - we got perfect weather for the kayak in and then the hike - were lucky - can’t wait to get back :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
An absolute Epic video! What a dream and adventure:stunning scenery, that calm water surrounded by mountains, looks so much similar to Norway's fiords. Fantastic way to live to the full.I reckon if you'd to offer guided trips like this, you'd be fully booked. Loved every bit, from narrow bendy roads ,sea, beach to the mountains. So much packed and so interesting. These 5thumbs down must be from competitors as I cant find any rational explanation.Brilliant work Murray
Thanks Kris - absolutely right - it was an adventure from start to finish this one - parts 2 and 3 still to come - hope you enjoy them (more wildlife in part three too ;) Thanks for watching ATB Murray
Beautiful and refreshing as always!!! Can´t wait to visit the Highlands again! Your are lucky people (despite the weather...). Thanks again for sharing your passion
Wow. Absolutely loved it Murray. Really beautifully filmed and put together. Looked a tough walk but conditions were perfect. Really illustrates the combined experience of Gerry and you. A dream trip. ATB - Dave

I was in Knoydart back in 1988, had a fantastic expedition which lasted a week I still have the map I used to navigate. Incredible place, thanks for this. We stayed in Barrisdale bothy.
Nice one..did kayak Mull and the outer islands..Coll, Tired etc Nd Corryvrackan. Still will walk the North as well as I do long-distance walking projects months in a row....
Thoroughly enjoy your videos mate. Especially this one. I like your ability to tell the story, your passion for your country & your authenticity. Cheers from New Zealand.
Absolutely FANTASTIC Murry, what great views, wildlife etc. For me some wonderful memories, I spent a week exploring the Rough Bounds in the early 90s and had weather similar to your day. (been back a few times but not so lucky with the weather) The downfall for me was walking in with all the food and it was pre-digital - so only 36 slides. Definitely my favourite hill (s) MANY thanks for sharing. keep them coming
Thanks John - its such a wonderful area - I've still got the Corbetts to get through there so will be back at some point :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Excellent adventure. Watching it on my iPhone whilst sleeping in the van at Duncansby Lighthouse. Looking forward to shooting the stacks at sunrise. Your excellent video has got me all psyched up for the morning 😁😁
Thanks for that wonderful film Murry. For me it was a fantastic reminder of one of my trips to Barrisdale bay taking a group of family and friends from Kinloch hourne. We too ascended the same mountain. Now,0 I have only been up half a dozen Munroe's and I'm pleased that was one of them. I think it was 2007, april and surprisingly 24c. The estate Gilly gave us a lift back in his boat. Cheers Murry.
Nice one Dave - the Gilly did you a massif favour - I remember that walk out the first time round and it a killer of a walk out after a few days in the mountains 😂 Thanks for watching ATB Murray
What a fantastic trip guys. I spent time in Knoydart in my youth but the weather was usually less kind . This is first video I have watched on your channel but I have now subscribed and look forward to catching up with the previous trips and following you on the next outings, Keep safe , (from an ex-pat in OZ 🦘)
Finest Munro or not, It IS the MOST WESTERLY Munro on the mainland and like the Fisherfield ones attractively remote. Really enjoyed this one Murray, my Fav area. When I was on the peak, a couple of fighter jets flew under me, one coming from the left side, low into Loch Hourn and being chased by the other one which came from the right. Pretty loud, but spectacular view. Plenty to explore in Knoydart & surrounding area. Keep up the great video accounts. Many thanks.
Thanks - always spectacular when the jets appear below you - have had a few experiences where I have literally jumped in fright as a jet has appeared when on the mountain! 😂 Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray

So much packed and so interesting. These 5thumbs down must be from competitors as I cant find any rational explanation.Brilliant work Murray
Thanks Kris - absolutely right - it was an adventure from start to finish this one - parts 2 and 3 still to come - hope you enjoy them (more wildlife in part three too ;)

Wow. Absolutely loved it Murray. Really beautifully filmed and put together. Looked a tough walk but conditions were perfect. Really illustrates the combined experience of Gerry and you. A dream trip. ATB - Dave
Thanks Dave - I’ve been lucky on this mountain as had similar conditions first time round many moons ago- it certainly a mountain to leave for good weather and we certainly got it :)

So glad I found your page ....your videos and adventures are amazing ....this is what life’s for ❤️
I was in Knoydart back in 1988, had a fantastic expedition which lasted a week I still have the map I used to navigate. Incredible place, thanks for this. We stayed in Barrisdale bothy.
Nice one..did kayak Mull and the outer islands..Coll, Tired etc Nd Corryvrackan. Still will walk the North as well as I do long-distance walking projects months in a row....
Superb video Murray of one of my favourite spots in Scotland. I also highly recommend Charlie MC Cartneys video of Knoydart.
Thoroughly enjoy your videos mate. Especially this one. I like your ability to tell the story, your passion for your country & your authenticity. Cheers from New Zealand.
Thank you Brett - very much appreciated

Absolutely FANTASTIC Murry, what great views, wildlife etc. For me some wonderful memories, I spent a week exploring the Rough Bounds in the early 90s and had weather similar to your day. (been back a few times but not so lucky with the weather)
The downfall for me was walking in with all the food and it was pre-digital - so only 36 slides. Definitely my favourite hill (s) MANY thanks for sharing. keep them coming
Thanks John - its such a wonderful area - I've still got the Corbetts to get through there so will be back at some point :)

Excellent adventure. Watching it on my iPhone whilst sleeping in the van at Duncansby Lighthouse. Looking forward to shooting the stacks at sunrise. Your excellent video has got me all psyched up for the morning 😁😁
hope you got a nice sunrise - in fact dont tell me I want to see it in the vlog ;) #nospoilersallowed
Nice one Dave - the Gilly did you a massif favour - I remember that walk out the first time round and it a killer of a walk out after a few days in the mountains 😂

What a fantastic trip guys. I spent time in Knoydart in my youth but the weather was usually less kind .
This is first video I have watched on your channel but I have now subscribed and look forward to catching up with the previous trips and following you on the next outings,
Keep safe , (from an ex-pat in OZ 🦘)
