The fact that he went ahead with the paternity test at the insistence of his mother shows that no matter how abusive his mother gets, he will always be on her side not yours. I would've prefered for op to give an ultimatum. I give you the paternity test but you go NC with your toxic mother or divorce. There is no need to make MIL apologize, just expose her as the reason on why the marriage failed and why he is only going to have visitation rights.
These Op’s barely do that. People still have the mindset: I must stay together for the child(ren). Unaware of the fact it’s only more toxic for the child(ren) to stay together.

Never ask for the test. You're a parent too, you can just go do it yourself. Asking for the test literally just shows your hand and starts a fight. If she is cheating she's gonna get defensive, and if she isn't she's going to be ready to kill you because you just accused her of cheating over something she has no clue looked suspicious. Asking for the test only gets you anywhere if you already have proof she cheated and are deciding if you want to fight for custody.

Wrong story dude.
Legally u need sign consent from both parents, even when come to treatments for illness both parents have to be on same page or doesn't happen

DNA tests should be mandatory at birth should be required before a man can sign it.
