- Dr. Bill Moffit former Director of the UofH Marching Band created the famous Patterns in Motion style of marching. This is a recreation of one UofH's half time performances in the Cotton Bowl. We miss Dr. Moffit and salute all those who marched under his Direction. Go Coogs!!!
I met Dr. Moffit in Jax,Fla. after he retired. I joined his community band in 2000 after a very long layoff from my
trumpet. He gave me some practice sheets I still use today, helped me get my chops back for sure. He was a very nice man and we had fun in his band.
This is an important video!! Dr. Moffits's own band performing the Patterns in Motion concept of marching band show design. Dr. Moffit incorporated traditional style with his new concepts of slants, stacks, etc. to create geometric designs. I hope UH keep this clip. This style was used all over the country during the 60's and 70's before the corps style came back in fashion. Thanks for sharing.
@mrschlittle Actually this is a clip of the band of the director that wrote Patterns in Motion.
@w5draw1
It still is widely used among high stepping band. I am a director, and my band uses this style!
LOL @ mrschlittle. I did expect a little more myself.
Nice show, but they really didn't do too much. The pinwheels on both sides does look great though
terrible...... lines are meant to be straight...... using a 5 man squad has no bearing..... U of H should have done this better....patterns in motion was based on 8 to 5 marching..... what is going on here....
