The fact that home depot didn't want to return the money seems crazy. It's good reputation for them, but now we know why people go to home depot to get scammed!!!
Good job reporting, good job to the deputies who intervened, and good job to Home Depot for refunding the money. The scammers still got their payout, but at least it stopped at $12K, and hopefully, more awareness results.

There should be a limit to how many gift cards a buyer can buy per transaction. This can make scams more detectable.
