This is something I've long known about but never visited, with the exception of Begijnhof. I love the idea of hidden oases of quiet in the 'Dam. I must visit one or two on my next trip!
Where can you find out about those other hofjes? When it comes down to it are the ones in the Jordaan the best/most interesting? Are there any in other cities? Begijhof and the old English Church are interesting but apparently have become overrun with tourists. On my last visit, they had installed turnstiles to bar access to the path leading to the buildings in the rear. While it may have been necessary, it detracted from the experience. Especially because I had always been quiet and respectful when visiting there.
Ron, for warmth, July and August, but it gets insanely crowded in the center. Try June or September when it's a bit less crowded.... After that I would suggest November or December for the holidays.
Been visiting the hofjes this week. They are amazing oases in often bustling neighbourhoods.
Love that you're finding our vids useful and having a great time!
I stayed in Jordaan last time when we visited Amsterdam. It's truely amazing part of Amsterdam. loved it.
Hi Drunken Bear.. It's one of our favorite sections too. Will be there this year for Kingsday!
I love your videos! It's inspiring to actually go around and see the city :)
Thank you for the nice comment Majid!
My friend showed me a Hofjes in Harlem and I was very impressed. Thanks for sharing! :)
We'll have to go check those out next...

It's a really fun thing to do...and there are more outside the Jordaan too.

AC, I'm trying to make my second visit to Amsterdam in May. If it doesn't work out when is another good month to visit?

The only critique I can come up with for your videos is....they are too short, I want to see more.
Hi Cymon.. thank you very much...will do.. we'll have a steady stream of them now that the weather is getting nicer..
Hey great video really appreciate you posting it but the annoying music is a little too loud compared to your voice just an observation ☺
