I dont get why the audience was laughing so much, I can tell they were prone to laugh at just about anything (maybe just to let him know they understand him?) they laughed at "Father to my mother ( chukles) who died when I was 12 ( laugh harder).
i think right before he sing this song, he sang "Frank D. Fixer" which is his other granddad (father to his dad probably) and that makes sense if his mom got jealous and told him that line
