- The first attempt at selling a gig on Fiverr did not go as planned. But this time, things seem to be looking up. I've had a Beta reading gig on Fiverr for a couple of months and finally got my first couple of sales.

I've been wavering about setting up my Fiverr seller's account as a beta reader! I'm afraid to mess it up. So afraid that I've been procrastinating since March of 2022 and here it is August. Yikes!
I already have my cute graphics done (before March, haha!) so that part will be easy.
As far a beta reading is concerned--I've been doing that for years now and am a published writer of a few books.
What am I afraid of? I don't know! Waaaa!!!

This is very inspirational Tania. I am inspired to try beta reading out in Fiverr, perhaps to build online presence as well, but mostly what you said about getting exposed to different types of writing styles can be very beneficial especially to aspiring writers. I had a quick question, I got to the end of setting up my first gig and got to the requirements section. I have no idea what questions to ask! Any advice as both a writer and a beta reader?
Hello! Nice to meet you. 😊 I would suggest questions like: What feedback do you hope do recieve from me? Do you have specific concerns you would like me to focus on? Etc. I set up a template on word, where I paste their document on. At the top half, above it, I paste any questions they asked so that as I'm reading it, I can answer them.

Congrats! I attempted proofreading/editing through upwork in the past, considered fiverr, but nothing came of it. I did also try hiring beta readers in my earlier days, but was generally disappointed. It was like I could see their attention/interest waning. They would be very good about offering feedback at the beginning, then offer less and less by the end of the project. It ended up not very helpful. These days I'm leaning more toward finding people I know (like authortubers I've interacted with) to offer an exchange of skills.
I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I generally use my mom as a beta reader because she loves reading. Always honest feedback. I feel like a pro may offer more detailed feedback though. 🤔 if you can find the right one. I wish you luck finding someone that works for you
@@TaniasWritingRealm I currently have my sis and a friend, they're great for my ego but not for feedback. They just always tell me it's perfect! I have an Aunt who reads all my books and will sometimes offer feedback, but she likes to correct grammar and English isn't her first language, so that's hit or miss. The search continues!

Finding good and dedicated beta readers has always been a challenge for me despite book swapping--they typically renege on it and I end up doing it without a fair barter. So sad!
Hi interested to be a beta reader but I'm not sure if I'm fit to be one a reader but I LOVE reading I'm just scared to start being a beta reader cuz I don't know the ways or how to do it I'm a single mom and it would be good side job to do what I love to do read 🤩🥰
Usually the writer will give you certain things to look for or ask you questions in advance. Then you know what to watch for. You should give it a try!

@@TaniasWritingRealm Do we have an opportunity, as sellers, to communicate with potential buyers before they make a final decision?
I've seen how certain beta readers have 10 orders in queue--what's to keep the buyers from cancelling since it's obvious the seller won't be able to beta read a full novel in a week (as promised) with 10 waiting?

@@ElizabethMuellerNovelist buyers can contact you through direct messaging before, during and after placing orders. They can ask for revisions if they are not happy.
I haven't had anyone cancel an order before to be honest so I'm not certain about how that works. I'm sure it's possible if the seller isn't responding or is very late on delivering.
Sellers can also limit how many orders they accept at any time through settings.
@@ElizabethMuellerNovelist I know you can display samples in your photos, of your previous work. Most of the info they need should be displayed in your description. But they can also ask questions before they officially place an order

@@imad_vlogs4435 I would start by going to the website and browsing. Set up a profile log in. Look around and see what the dashboard looks like. Then watch some more videos about fiverr before you set up a gig.
