I like the fact Dream was so patient with George, like it’s rough not being able to see colors and not being able to tell things apart. Glad he got a glance at green. :)
The windmill society No, the glasses just change sight on saturation. To be able to see the actual colors he cant currently, sadly it wont happen. The glasses aren’t a cure, there is no cure. The glasses just change how dark or light certain colors are (saturation).
I cannot even imagine his reaction if he actually saw the true difference especially considering his reaction to what i see as such a small change of saturation
well imagine what would happen if we had all possible (16) colour cones. everything would be SO WEIRD and we can’t even attempt to imagine the new colours
This is the perfect example of "perception dictates reality." When George says something looks more red, but it still just looks yellow for other people, that dark yellow actually IS red to him. When he was learning colors as a kid, and someone would point to what we'd see as gray, and say "this is pink," from then on that's what pink means to him. It's just a really interesting concept to consider, especially with colors but it could pertain to anything we perceive. If someone is telling you "no that's wrong, that's not what it is" but it's all you've ever seen or experienced, you're not going to have any idea why your perception is "wrong," to you it's reality. Very interesting, and a good thought when trying to be more understanding of others.
You can tell that the difference is huge, especially for someone who is color blind, but imagine their reaction to the actual colors. The difference would be immaculate.

I’m pretty sure it would have been slightly better then this! Not to mention the longer he wears it the better it gets. I don’t think this video shows a large enough difference considering he went from strong to mild severity
This is pretty much what Enchroma does. It doesn't magically make you see full colour vision, but it does help increase the contrast a lot, causing red and green to be more vibrant and stand out from other colours so George can tell them apart a lot better. That alone is a major improvement and I'm amazed that glasses like that exist.
I think he did see something kind of red ’cause (1) the video doesn't show us a 100% filter (2) I think he did see red because if not he would say that red is similar to green/yellow but he didn't . Fact: I think he saw some kind of red like really dark orange.

Absolutely... as very cynical person, I at some points told myself that he (George) was exaggerating or been a bit insincere... but after watching this video I felt so sad and sorry. I've never been one to believe what I'm told at face value, and I think many (if not the majority) of the people on the internet are just as skeptical as me, heck I don't think even Dream understands colorblindness well (and he's George's best friend). This is what I was trying to explain to people in the comments of the actual video. I was like “the glasses won’t allow him to suddenly see all the rainbow they just change the shading for the most part.” People were saying I was being rude, like what?
Its not about seeing them as we do. Its about him even recognising the difference. Being able to witness a difference in the sky or your girlfriends cheeks getting red from blushing. Its seeing something he would never have noticed before
Here is the thing. 1. To him this is super different and exiting, he can actually tell the difference between colors he couldn’t see before. 2. This is not 100% accurate
THANK YOU for actually being accurate, so many people mistakingly believe these glasses fix colorblindess completely. Thanks for showing the actual comparison!
Yeah, im colorblind but i know their is no perfect cure for it because its a problem with the 3 cones in your eye and its impossible to fix it, so even if i wear glasses it just modifies colors that i normaly see as an other color, to the same color but darker. When he’s naming the colors of the wool, I really didn’t know how he did that, the colors looked so different. But then I realized he’s lived with this for a long time. That made me feel so bad ;-;
That's right! Just like how a blind person learns to see through his other senses, a colorblind person is very keen on identifying the different shades of color on his/her available spectrum. The glasses only help amplify the differences in these shades of the colors to make it easier to identify. To us it's like identifying the difference between light grey from grey. To a color blind person, those differences in shades signal that two objects are completely different colors.
I am a protan too so it was actually so weird the colors of when he put the glasses on because the red just became green, i feel like iff I'm gonna use this glasses i wold feel so wierd to identify this colors because like, the red the he with glasses looks like green to me, the nether portal was so different, i feel like as a colorblind i can see much more the tiny differences between colours too, because we have to learn to like differenciate so little diferences like between green and yellow for example that the new green be so different would be so wierd and would maybe actually harder, idk seeing this was just so wierd but actually a good type of crazy, idk if I as a colorblind wold see closer to the "normal" seeing this video but it was so great and crazy
I have the very rare case of colorblindness where everything is monochrome so basically I can’t see ANY color just various shades of gray so I envy George

The colors that george cant see without the glasses: Protanopia, a type of red-green color blindness, affects red, orange, yellow, and some yellow-green colors: Red: People with protanopia can't perceive red light and may confuse shades of red with black. Orange: Colors appear less vibrant and saturated. Yellow: Colors appear less vibrant and saturated. Yellow-green: Some yellow-green colors appear less vibrant and saturated. Other colors: People with protanopia may see colors as shades of blue or gold. They may also confuse dark brown with dark green, dark orange, dark red, dark blue/purple, and black.
Guys when he said “these are so much redder” remember that his perception of red is way different than to a normal vision. Unfortunately at the moment it would be impossible for him to know what red really looks like but at least these help him differentiate between more colours :)
It's still adorable seeing how happy he was to be able to notice slight differences with the colour now. I just hope that one day there is a way for colour blind people to truly see colours
this makes so much more sense. i was wondering why he kept switching between normally seeing and the glasses. like if he was suddenly able to see all the colors, the change would be so drastic he wouldn't need to keep comparing.

This is so wholesome to me, because even though I'm seeing the *actual* difference in a (somewhat) accurate way, it still goes over my head just how fascinated George is by all of this- It just blows me away, honestly, and I can only imagine how exciting it must've been for him, because the contrast probably means a lot more when you're so used to seeing things the way George does *without* the glasses. And *also,* I am genuinely impressed here, because now I understand a little better how (seemingly) miniscule the difference actually *is,* and George is catching onto which color is which *incredibly* quickly. *I'd* probably have a *lot* more trouble than that- (shoutout to dream for being so incredibly patient and supportive)

@@flan6449 There is currently few technologies in the world that could cure George. Although this might seem like a good news, it can only cure a specific color blindness that may not be suitable for him because the cones are damaged for him not the nerves. For me, the only chance for him to see colors is probably eye transplant and idk if that technology exists yet.
i’m not gonna lie, this video made me cry but, george seems so happy so it’s okay. And i’m sure the last thing he wants, is for people to feel bad. Im glad he had a good experience w the glasses and i know he’s seen like this all his life, but the way he has adapted to tell the difference between colours is so incredible. Like i literally see no red whatsoever and george is like just like “ITS JUST SO MUCH MORE RED”
Think about this. He’s never seen red before, so this looks AMAZING to him, and he’s used to this kind of world, so he can understand what the colors look like because it’s his world. Hope this made sense.
If it makes you all feel better... The simulation in the video is of really severe colorblindness, a type where the person in question can literally only see blue, yellow and a greyish mush for everything else (dichromatic colorblindness, where the person is outright missing the relevant cone). Most colorblind people are not that severe (because they have all three cones, but one type is not aligned properly), and George isn't either. He CAN see some red and green; he just confuses those colors because they are desaturated a lot compared to what we see. (We know this because the glasses DO NOT WORK on people who are dichromatic. The glasses basically "shift" colors for people with misaligned cones; if he was missing a cone type, there would be nothing to "shift.") The glasses increase the saturation and contrast of what he sees, so he IS actually seeing red as "more red." (Even just the fact that he describes purple as having more red in it suggests to me that his colorblindness isn't too bad, because most red-green colorblind people just plain can't see purple as anything but a shade of blue even with the glasses.) Unfortunately, most of our simulations of colorblindness use the most severe forms because they're actually the easiest to create. The subtleties of "milder" colorblindness are hard to show, plus they are very individual.
As you said. If you try to think of a color that does not exists, you can't make it up. So, even if Gorge puts on these glasses he can't discover a totally new color, it is not possible for his brain. So while he can see different shades of a color, as we can as well, he still can't imagine (see) a totally different (new) color, such as red.

@@ynntari2775 in normal vision, green is darker than yellow. It's because yellow gets picked up by both the red and green receptors in your eye, whereas green only gets picked up by the green receptor. So you're getting two signals instead of one. But aside from the cones that can detect the wavelength (color), we also have rods which are more sensitive to the actual brightness of the light. They have a bigger effect on how bright colors look to us. The end result is that yellow seems just a bit brighter than green.

It’s sad but at least he can see some Colors, I couldn’t see pink Or red whatsoever;((
If it makes you all feel better...
The glasses basically "shift" colors for people with misaligned cones; if he was missing a cone type, there would be nothing to "shift.") The glasses increase the saturation and contrast of what he sees, so he IS actually seeing red as "more red."
(Even just the fact that he describes purple as having more red in it suggests to me that his colorblindness isn't too bad, because most red-green colorblind people just plain can't see purple as anything but a shade of blue even with the glasses.)
Unfortunately, most of our simulations of colorblindness use the most severe forms because they're actually the easiest to create. The subtleties of "milder" colorblindness are hard to show, plus they are very individual.
@@bluesonicstreak7317 aweh thank you for explaining all that :)) and yes that honestly does make me feel better for him
As you said. If you try to think of a color that does not exists, you can't make it up. So, even if Gorge puts on these glasses he can't discover a totally new color, it is not possible for his brain. bro.. this is for colorblind people
@@joudyh ..what?
:( I'm so sad
The video said that it might not be completely accurate, so he could very well of been seeing purple and red, just not as vibrant and saturated as we see it.
I really hope someday we're able to get glasses that actually let colorblind people see colors
The actual colours ✔️
literally not possible but a cool thought
I think it will not work :/
I mean... we apparently have glasses that let completely blind people see colors
@@Halo916_ no this is impossible lol
"Reds are now like- really red!" threw me for a loop because for someone who is not colorblind the red looked yellow or green. But I realize that for him, that's what red has always been.
Now I understand why he can’t differentiate the iron and diamond armor, even with the glasses
look at the shoulders though
@@roietbd2992 the shoulders are the only real difference, but you're not going to be able to see that at a distance or during a battle
@@diggoran diamond armor has a more defined outline, a bit darker.
@@roietbd2992 his point still stands
Yeah but it's basically still looking at difference in the texture and not the actual color
I’m sad cause dream thought he was seeing stuff completely different
Ikrr
i don't think so, dream was being pretty realistic the whole time and I'm pretty sure he was just excited to try something new with him lol
@@prodbydominikm yeah, but there were also moments where he asked if there was any change at all, and although it isn't in this clip I'm pretty sure there was a moment where dream said he thought they might not even do anything
I think most of the exclamations of "that's ___, you're seeing ___!" were just out of excitement
but either way they obviously had a good time
edit: also, to george this WOULD be seeing red or purple because it's the closest approximation to that color that he can possibly see, and is probably the most red or purple that he's ever seen before putting on the glasses. just thought that's worth mentioning
@@prodbydominikm also I don't want you to think I'm being argumentative or anything, I just don't want people to feel disappointed just because it's not what they imagined. it really was a special thing and it's cool that they were able to experience it together
@@86chu6 Dream doubted it but he definitely hoped that's what George was seeing, that's the point we're making. I'm sure if he saw just how little of a change there was he would be disappointed.
When he said “that’s redder” and all i saw was gray .. my brain lost 3 braincells😭😭
For him that’s what he learnt red to look like so yeah :(
Its because he doesn't see the way normal people see and that's why he learned a new way of telling colors apart
I think it’s redder than what the video is saying but not by alot
...gray? I see green-
yeah, red somehow seams like a yellowish green
I now understand that colorblind glasses help you differentiate colors, not magically give your eyes the ability to see red and green
No
I have George’s colourblind and I showed this to my friends and they seemed extremely shocked that I will never see ‘red’ in my life also thank you for clearing up at the beginning so people understand because people will always go “what’s this colour then”
Ur profile is blue

I had searched for a video like this, but I hadn't found it. But now I found S2. Thanks.
And, this shows me how we need to be more inclusive towards people with difficulties, such as dautonics. Mojang changed the texture of the ores for this, but there are still other things that could be done to help.
A hug to everyone who is colorblind, and don't forget, the world is perfect the way you see it.
Thanks for putting this together, Ive always known that the glasses werent suddenly magic but i've always wondered how it looks to the user. Definately not "curing" the color blindness but its definately making it eaiser to tell. Amazing.
Yeah same
him getting so excited to see red when it wasnt red at all :(
I feel bad for him but we cannot pity him, he has lived with this colour blindness so it's normal to him just like vibrant colours are normal to us. Obviously what he sees isn't the normal world but to him it is, we cannot put pity on George because it could make him upset, like imagine you being colourblind and tons of thousands of people are telling you that what you see isn't accurate or putting pity on you because you wont ever see red, purple or green. Being colourblind isn't a sad thing, they just see the world a bit different than we do but it isn't sad, they lived like that for years so its fine to them so it should be to us aswell. Sorry for the rant but I just wanted to share my opinion.
Late reply but he might have actually seen red, I don’t think we can copy exactly what George is seeing right now it might’ve just been something similar or only working in certain colors but again- don’t come at me maybe they somehow found exactly what George is seeing lol
@@annazuz0 your not wrong
@@annazuz0 i agree, nice
@@catherinewilay3108 EXACTLY- I was confused on how he was naming the rainbow if it didnt even look like the rainbow in this video- we technically cant see what he sees on the glasses so idk-
4:52 “it’s way redder” :(
I’m pretty sure the effect that we are seeing is different than exactly what he’s seeing
Xplodin Creeper He can’t see the color red.
Batfleck Forever I know but I think he was referencing it to it not being very red even with the effect of the glasses
Duke but he was also able to distinguish every color on the wool that dream put up but the effect that mugo has its completely impossible to distinguih
Xplodin Creeper we were unable to distinguish it, but george can because he’s use to seeing those colors being even less vibrant than they are with the glasses on
My heart just broke into 1000 pieces. George will never see red, purple, pink, orange and green... I wish that i could give him mine eyes...
This broke my heart...
If this is accurate, that's why he kept saying "this is darker"
Because its darker??
In his vision it is
In normal vision it turns green, not darker yellow, and the green is not any darker than the yellow
These enchroma glasses just exaggerate the difference in hue so that it's more obvious which is which for a colorblind person.
@@Lightning_Lance hey. Finally someone else that understands. Too many people don't know this and it, honestly, annoys me.
Even if you didn't know a quick Google search will teach you. It's all fairly simple.
Remember guys to George there is a huge difference.
I wish i could give away my eye only for him to see dream's color...
You actually can do that, only if George agrees that he has a surgery like that though.
@@SilverKnightGoAnimate only if george agree.... And if the surgery went bad, Me and George will be blind..... :/
no if you donate only one eye and he donate one his eye to you... you'll be colorblind on 1 eye and....
maybe?
@@marsaaas mann im curious.. is it possible to have one colorblind eye and one normal eye.... It must be weird when you open both eye

gonna google it!!
maybe its work like dominant eye
if its colorblind you will see like colorblind? but if its not you will see colors?
its not what normally exist so yeah we should google and learn more about eyes!
Pink is white gray for them? Oh my god, i bet he would be so shocked if he saw the world without being colorblind, theres so many colors they cant see, wow
