Love the outcome of this project. This piece will come in real handy as my summer jacket. Will you be recreating this? *p.s. excuse the bandaid on my left thumb. Broke that nail by accident 🙈
Thank you for this tutorial. Tomorrow is Mother's Day here in the States.....I will be making this as a present to myself. You are so talented and genius. You combined two things I love : a Kaftan & a Cardigan. Thank you Kim for sharing your God given gift....
@@KimDave yes I know that our shoulders are not straight i watch so many tutorials, they will measure about 2 or 3inches for shoulder slanting while cutting bubu but you don't do that, i swear I respect you for that 👍👍
More and more outstanding. This is exactly as you've described in the video. So gorgeous... Thanks for sharing... I'll be watching again cos the video is so much fun to see 💯🙌🤗
Been loving these videos that have more of your face and more talking, gives a more conversational vibe, like we're friends, it makes videos much more enjoyable to watch! :)
Omg thank you for the feedback. My channel was taking a weird dip and I decided to switch things up abit. So I’m glad you’re liking the new tutorial format
I call it an abaya cuz my sis got me something exactly in black with lace trimmings when she went to Saudi since 2016 and I'm still rocking it. I've been wanting to make something similar in different colours for myself but been scared of doing that because of the curved shaped. Thank you, Kim for this. I love you, for always coming through. Will definitely do enough now and give the black one a rest. 😃
Hello dear, God bless you. I really love your everyone your tutorials that you do. I just started in the line of sewing and your tutorials are really helping me.
hi greetings from Indonesia ... i am uwi i am happy with your flog, because I can also sew, sometimes there are some patterns that I don't understand, and I follow your flog ... thanks for helping ... 😉
Love your channel .Can I ask for some advice .I have the brother las14iy has been sewing perfectly now all of a sudden I have a people’s the top stitching is just small loops with a line of thread .I have retreaded the spool and needle can you advise further please
"very 'I have a million pounds in my bank account and no worries in the world'" made me laugh. thank you so much for this tutorial, the slash and spread to get the extra volume is so smart! exactly what I needed for a costume piece I'm making :)
Kim I love it o am going to do it and tagged you . How I do my belts on all my kimono I sewed it stopped it in the middle with a little opening then antique all the wat to the end and then I used a pencle to turn both ends true that key hole I made give it a goo press and she's done . I love it will def give her a try . Well done .
Hi.. Pls what happened to the front slash and spread you did and how were you able to join the front and back when it was not equal.. Due to the slash and spread?
Kim can you recommend any way to catalog these instructions for recall? I see one and I’m not near my studio and once there it takes me forever to get the instructions again.
Question about your basic bodice tutorial. What if the waist becomes bigger than the bust with added dart allowance? Or if all the measurements end up the same with added dart allowance?
The shape of the pattern should match the most dimensions, so if the pattern is for someone with a fuller waistline, then the side seam will protrude outwards at the waist. It’s always great to make a toile with the pattern and try it on to see how it sits on the body
@@KimDave I also had a problem with the armhole. When I added the 1 inch ease, it didn't go to the end of the pattern line like yours did at 5:58 in the video. What do I do? Thank you for answering my previous question too.
Lovely. May I ask though if the droped shoulder line is a design or if it’s something I can adjust to fall on top of the shoulder? I’m a little ocd about that seam not being visible at the front.
@@KimDave I’m still meaning to get around to making that cool turban you did a while back. But I’ve adhd so there’s been twenty things and distractions coming up between me and that goal lol
It's a YAH for me. How much material did you actually use to make this kaftan? That material is absolutely gorgeous and it made that look much better. Anything, else really won't work. It needs soft material. Much love.
That bandaged thumb though...I've stuck myself with a needle before too lol, and even if that's not the case, injuries won't stop me from sewing either.
@@KimDave I failed to say that I love this piece and it's versatility! I made a wrap skirt recently using cotton fabric and it's not as flowy as I would like. When you shared how you changed your mind on the fabric, I was mumbling about the same thing!
Omg I love this kimono caftan, it is beautiful but, what happened with the shoulder seam, it falls too much to the front, is that suppose to be like that? Is the shoulder suppose to drop or how would I be able to fix it? I don’t know, I want to recreate your beautiful kimono, but I would like to make my shoulders different, I mean the seam on top of the shoulder not to the front. I love the length, the whole vibe, beautiful. Great job.
Love the outcome of this project. This piece will come in real handy as my summer jacket.
Will you be recreating this?
*p.s. excuse the bandaid on my left thumb.
Broke that nail by accident 🙈
Yahh I will be recreating this soon.... sorry about your nail😪
So sorry for the thumb,be more careful love
So sorry for the thumb
We get so caught up in the bells and whistles. We overlook the techniques. I truly appreciate your content Priscilla.
Kim i really love how you make making patterns so easy and perfect

What I like about your pattern drafting is how you slant your shoulder it's so unique
Thank you Judith.
I slant my shoulder line because our shoulders are slanted which makes the garment fall more naturally on the body
@@KimDave yes I know that our shoulders are not straight i watch so many tutorials, they will measure about 2 or 3inches for shoulder slanting while cutting bubu but you don't do that, i swear I respect you for that 👍👍

great question and i am looking for the answer 🤔🤔🤔
Wow! Lovely
This is awesome
So beautiful ma. I love this tutorials . Pls how did u attach the belt since it didn't go through the back?
The belt is a separate piece that is tied around the waist
Thanks for this dear. What happened to your nail? Sorry if you injured it.
Kim can you recommend any way to catalog these instructions for recall? I see one and I’m not near my studio and once there it takes me forever to get the instructions again.
So beautiful, I'm in love
Hahahaha thank you 🥰
Beautiful outfit. Great work. How did you get the back to match the front without slashing and spreading?
De.Colombia tanks.hermoso.👏👏
Magnifique🤩🤩🤩🤩

Can I achieve this without a slash and spread method
You you can, it wouldn’t drape as much as the side
Love it
Yesss ..... First in the comment section for the second time .... love you kimmmmm
very close but not quite this time.
However thank you for the love
Lovely. May I ask though if the droped shoulder line is a design or if it’s something I can adjust to fall on top of the shoulder? I’m a little ocd about that seam not being visible at the front.
It is a design, it’s optional if your don’t want to drop the neckline like I did

I see about three metres of the fabric. Absolutely gorgeous print, the colours work so well together 😍
Nice video
Thanks
@@KimDave Pls how many yards will be enough?
Nice👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Please Kim can I know the name of the material
It's a crepe backed satin print

Same here.
At least the bandage stopped the bleeding

❤️👌👍👏
Can it be done in rayon or crepe?
Yes it can, as long as it’s a light go mid weight fabric
