    This helped me so much. I've been a gymnast for so long and I thought my backhand spring was fine until I watched this video. All of my tumbling passes start with a handspring and you can see how a powerful handspring leads to a powerful tumbling pass. I also found that this works with front handsprings too

    Omg OMG. OMG thank you sooo much. I only knew how to do a back handspring with only help, but I could never do it alone. After watching this I went to my park and after 12 tries I got it!!! Thank you so much!!!!!! Not even my gymnastics teacher could teach me, thank you!

    This helps me alot i just recently got mine & im weak so when i throw my back hand springs i always land on my head & my arm collapse, this helps i feel like half my reason is i throw my head back & other half is i dont get my arm fully to my head

    I am having trouble. I can do it perfectly on the trampoline , but when I get to the ground I just freak out. I don't know what to do. HELP PLEASE!

      Have you tried using a really thick mat or mattress? Or even a bed? Once you get it on there you can move onto thinner mats with spot and eventually on your own on floor😊

      Carley W try going to a open gym/gymnastics classes or cheer and get someone spot you till your comfortable and do it on your own

    Omg! Thank you so much!!! I have been working on my backhandspring for a year now for the longest time I was doing the wimpy jump and not jumping hard enough back and my arms would bend causing me to fall once I jumped hard back I had no bent arms and it was SOO mug easier thank you so much!!

    I have my backhandspring, but my coaches kept telling me that I need to work on making it longer and not higher (the same as my hurdles). So this really helped, thank you!

    Thanks sm! I really want to try out for competitive cheer-and I know I'm striving for level 4 (layout, standing tuck, and 1,2,&3 to backtuck) but I'm having so many issues with backhandsprings to tuck so hopefully this will improve them!

    Practise it lots on a soft surface like a mat, then go onto the grass and do it, but with someone spotting you. Then tell them to help you less and less, until there aren't helping at all, and you can do it. That worked for me!

    Does anybody have any tips for me? I just got into cheerleading and I've been a gymnast for a few years but I can't seem to make my backhandspring strong. I can't keep my legs straight and together. What should I do even after I've practiced???

      Katherine Riley toKeep your legs together squish a water bottle between your legs then and try and keep it there

      Katherine Riley, a way to have your back handspring strong, is to practice a back arabian, or a back Iimber, while slowly inching your feet closer and closer each time you do one. It helped me a lot.

    I love coach meggin videos. I just learned my standing backhandspring the other day and I have had my round off backhandspring for a while. The problem is that I undercut it and then I have bent legs so I hope your distance and stretching backwards will help. Thanks so much and please make more videos!!!

    So basically what I'm saying is just go for the gold and try it and if you are too scared to do it alone on the sofa then get someone to help you! And once you have it you won't be able to stop! But even if it looks good when you have it keep practising too make it so much better and try to have a really strong rebound after it! Then you can connect it to thing like round off backhand springs! Go for the gold and don't be afraid

      Put something in between your legs when you do your back handsprings, it’s squeezes your legs together which naturally straightens them a little bit :)

    Hey guys this is a quick tip! I have been soo scared to do a back handspring and today I was determined to do it on my coach! It's still needs improving hence why I'm watching this video and the best thing is I had never tried it before not even with someone helping but it's so much easier on a sofa or trampoline that all my fear went away and I just did it!

    I try so hard with my backhand spring, but I look exactly how you showed how not to do it, but my wrist hurt sooo much, and i just give up everytime. My coah encourages me alot but I don't know how to make it better, but I'm definitely going to try these tecniques
