Yesterday, I put on a youtube video while cooking and I noticed they updated the on-screen touch controls 0:52. A nice update for sure 👆 as I mentioned I'm not sure why it was even like that from the get-go 😂
i use mine for a smart home dashboard, it also shows to do lists, shopping lists the weather and a photo stream that i update with new photos of family all the time. it turns off fully if no motion detected for a certain duration. it also shows security cameras. it makes me laugh when most people see this as a way to watch prime video while cooking.
Sounds like you make the most of it. I'll be honest I never use prime video with it, but I certainly throw YT videos on in the background where I mostly listen occasionally look. It is nice for meal/baking tutorials too.
I'm new to Amazon devices but considering this for kitchen streaming. Any streaming apps available on Fire TV are supported on this device, is that right?
Yes that is correct, it's fantastic for the Kitchen! Here is a link so you can see yourself about streaming www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=G8PWALDCEPNDN7EE
It is relatively handsfree, the youtube functionality is split however, there is an on screen remote or fire remote that you can use. You can also say some commands it will follow, you can also cast stuff over from a phone which is nice. Hope that helps a bit, not sure the exact limitations of your firend.
I would like to know what is the monthly wattage consumption for this device, I haven’t found any information about it. Really useful video by the way!
I currently have a show 8 system with my mum in her care home. It is only used for video calls. The size of this screen is an advantage for her eyesight. Would the reduced camera sensor negate any benefit of the larger screen? Is the audio quality ok for a voice call?
Hi! The sensor is decent, it will not be as good as the 8 but the almost doubled screen size might make that worth it alone. I would say if you have adequate lighting it should be fine. Hope that helps!
Can this be used to store and display scanned recipes rather than using a recipes app? I have many recipe cards id like scanned and put on s kitchen screen.
You could certainly upload scans to the Amazon photo app and then put them up on the screen. I would just make sure they are optimized for 16:9 or 9:16 depending which orientation you set yours up as. Hope that helps!
Those are Lutron shades, I got them at home depot they are blackouts. A lot of other companies offer alternative products just make sure they have an app and are smart connected, hope that helps!
@@VladimirKostek Is there anything that you don’t like about it? Does the screen glitch or freeze? Is it slow to responding to the touch screen or voice chat? Are you constantly getting ads on your device?
Those are Lutron Smart Shades, I might review them at some point. I've also used Somfy and Hunter Douglas ones. These I custom fit at Home Depot if you are interested.
Hi Nick! I have lutron shades that I got from Home Depot. They have a decent selection there, I have also used somfy and hunter douglas shades as well. I'll be installing some new ones in my living room soon so perhaps I will do a vid on those!
it’s a waste of money in my opinion. I wanted it as a hub but it’s worthless for that. Now i’m gonna have to get the new hub coming out and use this as a kitchen aid for quick calendar and a couple other things. You can’t even get downloader to side load apps you like.

This thing looks awesome, I actually didn't know they made it. Also big +1 for some Talib Kweli!
Def my favorite Alexa I have. Perfect size imo! Love Talib 💙
Good video, thanks. I just ordered one off Amazon 👍
Hope you like it!
I just ordered one as well how’s your two week opinion on it?

I'm still waiting for a 2nd gen of this 15.
I haven't heard any rumors but that would be cool!

Good video thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Are you getting one?
This is the poor man's Family Hub fridge screen 😆
Loll, hadn't thought about it that way but I guess ur kinda right 🤣
If this is your favorite kitchen companion, I would suggest you get out more.😜
Definitely the best one I've found, and don't worry I travel a lot jaja
Would you rather get the 10 or the 15 in your opinion from today ?
I'm partial to the 15 just because of the screen size and cleaner wall mounting. They are very similar in price right now too
Can you watch Hulu Live TV with this?
Information seems limited on that, hulu is supported I'm just not sure of live hulu. Take a look here help.hulu.com/s/article/supported-devices?
I’m thinking of getting this for a friend who is paraplegic so needs something hands free to watch UA-cam how handsfree is the echo show 15?

Glad it was helpful, hey great idea btw. I just 🔌 it into a wattage meter. I will make a short in a few weeks with the results
Just put out a short answering this question btw

How customisable is the home screen? Can I set it up it up to have Calendar/To-do's/post it notes and thats it? TIA!
It's very customizable, certainly the most out of all the alexas. The sky is the limit

Where did you get the wall mount (the basic white one from?) I can only seem to find the under cabinet ones and swivel/ Extendable types

Almost another year later. Do you still recommend purchasing it?
Absolutely, still use it everyday! It lives in my kitchen still haha
