    Mumbai had the most organic growth in the whole country
    People wanted to come here for progress
    But govt couldn't provide infra as needed at the time
    and now the whole mumbai has got congested

    Mumbai is so much costly for common/middle class family,
    Much costlear than Delhi, banglore.
    That's why
    Pune is an alternate city for middle class family.
    Also Pune can expand all around the city.

      Pune is more geographically unfortunate than Mumbai.
      In Mumbai,sea is maybe on just 3 sides out of 4.
      In Pune,you have mountains,hills,forests,rivers,lakes inside a city that destroys economic potential of the city left and right,up and down.
      Compare Pune with any big city in world and you will see how may billions of dollars worth economy might have been working if there were not so many barriers here.

    The problem with building so many highways is after 5 years, even they are congested, You cannot reduce traffic by just making a lot of highways. Any post war expanded city of US and Canada have tried this and the congestion never stops. Houston has 27 lane highway which is also congested. All those cities are now turning back to building a strong public transit. Mumbai needs these tunnels. But these has to be the max limit. After this there is no scope of further highway expansions. you only need large scale good quality metros and rail. roads should not be used for daily commute. Still all indian cities have not learnt efficient city planning like other asian or European cities. There is a max limit of road infrastructure beyond which it starts to give -ve utility.

      I am not against anyone but Problem is not developing those States or city's from where people migrate themselves for earnings in Big city's, I mean yes opportunity is a reason but even for a start up if people get in big or mega city's population increases traveling gets affected, Public Transport gets congested, I may not be able to explain but instead of Highways we need to see from where do educated people comes give them an opportunity in their city or state atleast so that it becomes easy for all.

    Bengaluru must learn from Mumbai
    *(Where as cities like Noida, gurugram, Pune, Hyderabad govt is building forcing city towards IT sectors by building world class road and Infrastructure and even asking companies to come and settle there, but in Bengaluru all the companies came here by their own and after their arrivals state govt decided to build multi IT parks etc, despite having worst road, traffic, poor transportation system Bengaluru still tops as 5th start-up destination and 7th IT ranking city around globe)* If govt make bengaluru like how other state govts are looking forward no doubt not just in Asia Pacific but all over asia Bengaluru will be head to head competitor for Bejing (let it be any political party in Karnataka they are unfit for bengaluru)

    Main fear for Mumbai I think is in monsoon roads are getting flooded, imagine what will happen to the tunnel if it floods there.

      It won’t flood in the tunnels because proper drainage work takes places before the tunnel opens.
      So no matter how much it rains, the tunnels won’t flood

      @@Hey1234Hey British era storm drains/ drainage mostly can be seen in South Mumbai. & that area extremely rarely ever gets flooded. Infact the parts of Mumbai where the British era buildings & roads still remain are very well planned with quite wide roads such as Ballard Estate, behind Taj Hotel, Colaba , Fort Area
      It's the suburbs of Mumbai & the areas that developed arnd 1960s onwards that are a mess . And the newer areas that are being developed an even bigger mess . All coz of random constructions, lack of urban planning & unchecked encroachments .
      Reason are obvious & known to all ----
      rampant corruption + lack of accountability of Municipal & other Govt offices over past several decades + people voting for all the wrong reasons in different Elections

      Solution is with common residents. Unscrupulous use of cement ,paverblock on footpath ,society inner area has resulted in rain water coming out on streets . Just remove some paver blocks from your society footpaths and see the result.

    What mumbai or any Indian city need is better public transport which also connect with small satellite town..Politicians will only talk about mumbai nd not it's neighbour area...look how NCR development going towards meerut..RRTS will be masterpiece for it....

      Suburban rail system used to do that, it connects Thane, Panvel, Navi Mumbai etc. Rrts is nothing but a fancy Suburban rail. Actually connectivity within Mumbai is an issue, as they were dependent on local which never were built for this purpose.

      Mumbai needs to stop constructions on the Western side unless its a re- development residential project . All constructions to be planned on Eastern side + in & arnd New Mumbai. Only then will congestion in Mumbai ease + city will grow in a balanced manner .

    Bro forgot all metro line tunneling projects. Line 3( entire line from aarey to southern tip), Line 11(wadala to CSMT), line 7A, ( near airport), parts of line 5 in Kalyan.

    Things which i want to see happening in #Mumbai.
    * Slum redevelopment
    * All new flyovers / tunnels should be 6 lane or more.
    * New network of Drainage built with TBM to get rid of flooding during monsoon.
    * All normal Local trains should be converted into AC local with Automatic doors. Non AC locals with out automatic doors should be thing of #past.
    * 1000 cctv cameras should be installed at critical places to make #Mumbai safest on #Earth.
    * Cleanliness should be top notch like #Tokyo.
    Want to see #Mumbai city becoming $1 trillion economy by 2035.

    03:25 Hello, I mean no offence but the Kharghar-Turbhe route is already at 14 km i.e., 30 minutes. I know it well because it is my daily route (except for the road jams), so having it reduced by 30 minutes doesn't make any sense.

    #AskPT As we all know MVRL has discarded MUTP tender. The majority of Mumbaikars deserve this mega transition. What is that as tax payer citizens we can do to put pressure on authority to fast track this project. It's high time now something should be done on the ground.

      How many infra projects have been completed in & arnd the New Mumbai area ? Rare few . And even whatever gets done is at a slow pace with a start, stall, stop & then repeat the cycle method . Currently all infra projects getting completed at a rapid pace are targeted at the convenience of influential people living in certain areas of South Mumbai & upto Bandra . Rest of Mumbai are expected to continue voting blindly and be exceptionally grateful for any small work done by the Govt

    Building infrastructure is just one end of the problem, but what we fail is lack of system. Traffic congress will not be solved unless we take pedestrian and local transport very seriously like Europeans

    New York City's first underwater tunnel opened in 1910 under the East River. Today there are 14 tunnels under the East and Hudson Rivers (road and metro and railway).

    Tunnels are good in some ways where they are feasible...take Tokyo for example where land is very less ...so they build ring roads, expressways, highways,link roads underground rather than spending double the money for acquiring land and building viaducts,roads,etc

    I think Mumbai should also create also create small artificial islands out of waste debris along the coastline and if possible, artificial mangroves. They will act as breakwaters and will help in managing high waves.

    #AskPT why are they not utilising the opportunity of building bullet train tunnel in thane creek to also build tracks for metro line 14 that also follows the same route.
    Also they can use the same for road as well to compensate for the cancelled project of Ghansoli Vikhroli Flyover. It is stupid of the authorities to not utilise this opportunity to build for all transport types.
