As an Asian person who grew up chubby borderline fat, you never stop hearing about. Bullying and family talking cruel about as if you’re an ugly piece of furniture that needs to be thrown ago. I had family say some of the meanest things some even suggested bulimia if I wanted to eat a lot. I started struggling with that ED. They didn’t ever address the root issues that caused my disorganized eating. My parents were always gone, I only knew how to cook ramen and eat junk food. I was never taught nutrition. A teacher in my middle school (he was also my HS’s varsity football coach) saw me get bullied and addressed it with my mom. I saw nutritionists, therapist and my teacher taught me how to work out with his daughters. I’m still close with their family. To me, it felt like he really saved me as my own dad is useless. The way I got treated fat vs skinny was immensely different and it really is sad that there’s such unrealistic standards. In Asia a size 8 is still considered fat and in the USA in the 1960s Marylin Monroe was considered plus-size at a size 6. Most ppl in the USA struggle with weight without mental health never being as important.
@@SaintShionthe avg US woman size is 16 now. Plus size models are 14 and up where it used to be 8-12 which I think was ridiculous. There is still a negative stigma on plus size women here but not as extreme as in the past. There’s more of a push for self-confidence and being comfortable in your own skin now.
