If I was a rapper, I would make this the last track on my last album. To me each beat tells a story, and this one is a story of flying over the world once you've mastered yourself and you truly are happy about all the struggles you went through cause you realize that made you the master you are today. R.I.B. and Thank You Mr. J Dilla
How could a human create this. Its so musically complex yet sounds so simple. Its has such a jagged melodic groove to it yet sounds so tranquil and pure. I could zone out on this beat for hours and not notice time go by. I have never heard music like this before in my life, my god that man was on another level.
i don't think I'll ever stop missing Dilla....as long as his beats are around, there's always going to be that direct connection to me as well as every single fan of his music. He was a legend who should be recognized for his craft instead of being only looked at as a 'hip-hop producer'. R.I.P. Dilla
This is easily one of my favorite beats by this dude. He had an ear for the music man. Period. Period. And you can't turn his stuff into a pop song. That's hop all the way kids.
+Roberts Budigins they got smacked open-handedly by some players...and now are sad because of some folks who "used to call (them) on (their) cell phone..."
I fell back into the Dilla catalogue this week and this track has stuck with me since I found it almost 10 years ago. Something so simple but so perfect.
I'm from Colombia and I've never visited New York in person, but when I listen to this track by Dilla, I don't know why always take me to the same thinking of me on a cloudy day taking a walk under the elevated railroads of New York while im listening to this beat just chilling on my own. That's what makes Dilla music so special, he was unique and one of the best beatmakers of all time. Long Live Jay Dee🙏🏻
Many people could easily say that this beat is easy to make, which it probably is. But Dilla had so much soul and creative intuition with his beats and sampling, that I would never be able to scope out. Who could find shit like this to sample? Genius
Because this beat appeared on Another Batch which has been around forever. Old Donuts is like a quarter of what is on ANother Batch. If you wanna link just say
I first heard Dilla through spotify. I was on up a mountain and I had internet access and it was the night, then it started drizzling outside. The beat was 'Dime peace' and ever since my life changed. RIP Dilla!
+Soul Survivor 187 take it easy. when this batch used to be on UA-cam it was dated (1993) so I always took that seriously. it wasn't hard to imagine since he started producing in SV back in high school
***** It's off the one now on UA-cam titled "Old Donuts." I don't wanna talk about it too much or it'll get pulled off youtube again. It should be about 14 minutes in.
Yeah, Fam. I never met him, but when he passed I sobbed like a baby... The void that was left knowing I would never hear him again, with the exception of what he left. He was a gift man... Your words are so on point. Respect...
Dope Dilla face sticker on my back windshield rollin' around Detroit showing respect like I'm spose to. Dilla will always be amongst Motown's finest! R I Beats
A perfect description of both this song and the genius in a large majority of Dilla's work - if there ever was a producer who knew a song could be dope without overdoing things, it was Dilla
I read a article back in like 2000 in a recording magazine that jay dee programmed every drum hit throughout the whole song, not just 4-8 bars and loop it, but through 64 plus bars. Thats why they beats ride all through and don't get repetitive, its alot of extra work that most producers won't take the time to do, but the listeners will thank you in the end if you do, because it makes for a much more enjoyable listen.
I went to the "Donuts Are Forever" benefit last year with my girl. I felt like I was in underground heaven. I damn near lost my mind when the dj played "Dont Cry" and "We Must Be in Love." A night I will never forget.
I don't know how this man was able to craft perfect sonic nuggets that can be a loop three seconds long, completely cyclic, no further embellishment, or do the exact opposite, keeping it linear and organic and maintain his artistic integrity. his chord progression choice is SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK.
Man... I'm listening to this beat every day... every our... every single minute, it just doesn't get old... and I'm waiting every time when he hit those 3 pads at 1:39. DILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This beat is so unbelievable... I'm almost crying.
I`m Lost inside my own stress man So many thoughts of progression Who do i have to kill, To become Heir Like will I ever be a millionaire Will I ever be truly happy Other than grabbing boobs while she rides me smooth through the back seat Cowards die a thousand deaths, I`m a soldier living profound instead While i count my cheques i got a glock loaded around my bed One mission impossible dive away Aim it in your opticals boy fly away or your gon`have to off your soul and die today my postures poised I ride that way.
this beat never gets old man i can play this all day 1 after the other 4 real Mad Props Again To Master Jay Dee MAns have come far in the game miSs Dilla CraZy
If you can EVER make something like this, you will be musically gifted in my eyes. But this man, J Dilla, has changed so many lives with his music, that I somehow doubt that he is overrated.
And now returning to this comment 8 months later this is helping me deal with my godmother's passing. Allowing me to see the beauty of it and life itself. Can't thank you enough James Yancey
i watched the last J dilla performance and had to turn it off almost cried. He inspired to make beats and i never got the chance to meet him. I wish i couldve beem blessed with the opportunity to sit with him and just 1 million questions. Man but Thank GOD for even creating such a genius i definitely will play his beats around my future kids. Word Up

Seeing the comments from over 10 years ago and seeing that it’s still just as good now as it was back then makes me happy shoutout to all u beautiful ppl god bless
The tracks i grew up on... that gave me such inspiration, I never knew they came from him. He kept such a low profile, and i never knew who JD wuz. I was like "Jermaine Dupree couldnt have done this!" And Dilla should get a movie cause he is one of the biggest influences that the hip hop community there ever had.
and artistic integrity like my man jay dee. you can't tell me that he disliked the fact that he was one of the most prominent and well paid producers in the music buisiness during his time on earth.
One of the greatest beats I've ever heard.
When i listen to this track, i can feel there is a better version of me hidden somewhere... Man ... I love Art.

A beat with a million views....wow. Smoke!
How could a human create this. Its so musically complex yet sounds so simple. Its has such a jagged melodic groove to it yet sounds so tranquil and pure. He might as well been another species, this guy was too good.

RIP Dilla, another year passes by and I miss you more.

That uplifting moment when you discover a Dilla beat that hasn't graced your ears. Beautiful
The ONLY Jay Dee that really matters in music.
I'm gonna leave this on repeat for the rest of the night! This beat seriously puts me at a state of ease. Thank you Dilla for your brilliant music!
Waiting at the airport type track
gets you ready for a new start.
would fit perfectly in a movie scene, where people are passing by but the character on screen is sitting idly by.
Going back home
Reminds me of gta vice city
Shane Reed ohhh that's true hahah thanks for the share bro
This is easily one of my favorite beats by this dude. He had an ear for the music man. Period. Period. And you can't turn his stuff into a pop song. That's hop all the way kids.

Racism knows no bounds, and UA-cam is host to much
BeastNation2009 BAHAHAHAHA
I fell back into the Dilla catalogue this week and this track has stuck with me since I found it almost 10 years ago. Something so simple but so perfect.
First there was the word. Then there was light. And then came Dilla
That is the most classic comment ever, get that on a t shirt or jacket bro!
Haha thanks homie
+sittingbull1903 Yeah good one man! One of the best comments I've read in awhile.

I'm from Colombia and I've never visited New York in person, but when I listen to this track by Dilla, I don't know why always take me to the same thinking of me on a cloudy day taking a walk under the elevated railroads of New York while im listening to this beat just chilling on my own.

Long Live Jay Dee🙏🏻
I love this beat man, sends me to a higher place. Its the chords on that what sounds like a piano underwater. Mesmerizing!
Many people could easily say that this beat is easy to make, which it probably is. But Dilla had so much soul and creative intuition with his beats and sampling, that I would never be able to scope out. Who could find shit like this to sample? Genius
i think this was my first dilla beat back around the spring of 11. Damn this takes me back
Because this beat appeared on Another Batch which has been around forever. Old Donuts is like a quarter of what is on ANother Batch. If you wanna link just say
I first heard Dilla through spotify. I was on up a mountain and I had internet access and it was the night, then it started drizzling outside. The beat was 'Dime peace' and ever since my life changed. RIP Dilla!
R.I.P. DILLA! this beat is my favorite from him
I've been listening to Dilla for five years now. I just discovered this today and he still keeps surprising me
I believe he made this when he was 19. Dwell on that.
+Soul Survivor 187 I have to disagree. He was born in 1974 and this track is off a beat tape from 1993.
+Soul Survivor 187 unless I'm wrong and the tape was from around 1997
+Soul Survivor 187 take it easy. when this batch used to be on UA-cam it was dated (1993) so I always took that seriously. it wasn't hard to imagine since he started producing in SV back in high school

+Charley Grossman No, this beat if from 1998. Don't believe some of the dates on Jay's tapes and CDs.
The drums with the sample make this super special ! Crazy fresh beat !!!!! Dilla at his best!!!! He will be missed R.I.P.
Dilla is so classic... He has a heavy influence on my productions!
You a legend.. you take my mind to another realm make me feel like it’s a world with no stress and you could just live free. REAL FREEDOM
Dilla, you were too nice man.. too nice
Wish Dilla was still here, discovering him and his catalogue was a damn good choice🎧🎶🕊️
only dilla can evoke such emotions in one another in a simple but yet beautiful beat as this one
Yeah, Fam. I never met him, but when he passed I sobbed like a baby... The void that was left knowing I would never hear him again, with the exception of what he left. He was a gift man... Your words are so on point. Respect...
Sounds it could be in one of those old Toonami promos
Adult Swim always had bangers

This joint makes me think of the fun music I listened to in the late 90s/early 2000s
I went to the "Donuts Are Forever" benefit last year with my girl. I felt like I was in underground heaven. I damn near lost my mind when the dj played "Dont Cry" and "We Must Be in Love." A night I will never forget.
Nice and relaxing. I like it.
This is a straight vibin beat, no rhymes necessary...
I feel this beat in my soul. Reminds me of being a kid playing outside
Just sheer brilliance!!!! It seems like he catches parts of a song that many overlook.
R.I.B. J Dilla
What a rough day... time to get lost in Dilla.
J Dilla had some awesome beats it's just ashame he never got a chance to see how big of a fanbase he's got now😪❤
how can people dislike this beat?
people who think that dilla aint king lmao, they're always so salty
Yeah man, the chord break in "Between the sheets" he executed the interpolation so lovely!!!!
Why do the best leave so soon? (Dilla, Nujabes, etc.)
Man... I'm listening to this beat every day... every our... every single minute, it just doesn't get old... and I'm waiting every time when he hit those 3 pads at 1:39. DILLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This beat is so unbelievable... I'm almost crying.

Like will I ever be a millionaire
Will I ever be truly happy
Other than grabbing boobs while she rides me smooth through the back seat
Cowards die a thousand deaths, I`m a soldier living profound instead
While i count my cheques i got a glock loaded around my bed
