I'm so glad I switched to Linux. Microsoft fired most of their testing team and the results speak for themselves. Early Linux was buggy but that is now largely a thing of the past. Quick question: isn't taking regular backups more of a recovery mechanism from a ransonware attack instead of a protection mechanism? I mean if you're using backups to restore files that were encrypted, you were already hit by the ransomware and not protected from it. Thanks for mentioning protected folders. Do you know how Windows is able to prevent malicious programs from changing protected folders vs "any" program? Or does it pretty much block all programs, other than ones "authorized" to modify protected folders, from changing protected folders? Thanks for posting the video!

is there anyway to decrypt .igvm ?
You are 2 days late 😞. My server got hit 2 days ago. Luckily for me I have 19 backups 😂. Just sucks losing a day for business.
best ransomware protection is not to use Windows. Seriously, after being on Linux for a few months you won't be so eager to get back on Windows
wow, you showed up quickly, for once...
Wait, what's wrong with the verge?
I hardly use Windows anymore. More Mac and Linux. In the unlikely event of my Windows one getting Ransom poop on it I would just wipe it as it only has games on it now.
Would I then Reinstall Windows?
It would probably end up as a Linux.
I'm waiting for the day to get rid of windows completely. I still have a machine on the shelf that is running windows. Somethings aren't available on linux and I hate that.
The same is for me. I would but i can't. 3 business-apps that runs only on Win7. And no way to using this MS-trojan Win10. -> 1 Update and you got candycrush, xbox-whatever, etc.
@@BenitoF2009 I wanted to do my taxes on turbotax the other day and the DVD only runs on windows and Mac. Went to their website and they stated clearly that it only works on those two platforms and that they're aware of Mac being Unix and close to linux, but they still don't support linux. That is just one example.
@@MyReviews_karkan Oh. That sounds crazy. But the same is here in Germany. Here you can do your taxes with a app called "Elster" . Till now. From march on Win 7 will not be supported anymore and you have to upgrade you system to Win10 to use it.
Even though Win10 can't be run legaly in europe, because of our "DSGVO" (Data Protection Act). With that in mind you have to do illegal things to do your legal obligations. Dictated by the government. Here is the offical statement by the "Conference of the independent data protection authorities of the federal and state governments" therefor - with warnings about the use of Win10. tlfdi.de/mam/tlfdi/gesetze/orientierungshilfen/beschluss_zu_top_13_win10_prufschema.pdf in sum: Win10 is spying on users and nobody knows exactly wich data will be transfered and even worse: you can't switch off this function. And that's why it is illegal to use it. This document is a great argument against Win10 and for switching to linux. BUT it is a fight against windmills because nobody here seems to care about it.
btw: my personal answer to a WIN 10 upgrade: social.librem.one/system/media_attachments/files/003/753/578/original/a93c737d065f9d98.jpeg?1581654994 ;-)
@@BenitoF2009 if you guys can't run windows then what do corporations and schools run?
What if you do not use Win10?
can you show how to make a deb package of a programme you have installed on one machine to install on another linux ubuntu machine, in my case spotify the new version just does not work with audio recorder like the old version i installed does
If you are installing program from source, I suggest you use checkinstall to make a deb package so you can install the program to multiple ubuntu nodes. wiki.debian.org/CheckInstall
What about SambaCry?
Thank you, Chris. Ha ha ha ha.
Never pay a Ransome! That is the worst possible thing you could do!
Chris, can you give us a perfekt disaster protection strategy? Just change computer and continue business.
happened to me last night thousands of pics and videos plus Movies games GONE in a blink of an eye i just started from scratch....

Blessed is the pessimist for he hath made backups -- Exasperated 2:27
I pretty run just run linux now, i do have windows in a vm only use it to copy files that really really large, for some reason under linux 2/3 of the time large files being copied to flash drive (only!) lock up and use the vm to watch xfinity tv since it wont let me under linux yet. I do backups 2 times a day with time shift, so far its worked pretty good. as for windows its self, can't stand it cuz of all the reasons you mentioned in this video. awesome vid though, make anyone know runnign windows stuff like this.
My lappy had been attacked by zwer ransomeware and it encrypted my data and its decryptor for online method is not available.. please if anyone get any decryptor please suggest me guys...
I keep my Windows Updates disabled and I use Malwarebytes and Avast. I keep UAC enabled to the maximum. I have Windows 10 Home Edition so I have no choice.
You mean Avast? The co that just got caught selling all users personal data browser data etc to big tech? Oh I guess you missed that a few weeks ago........oops
Andrew Reichel I didn't miss that a few weeks ago. I actually disabled all the data collection so thanks for notifying me
Windows Defender is really bad. Use something like Kaspersky or Comodo.
Itv: here's how to configure your spyware to protect yourself from spyware! Remember to configure the spyware updates to delay them so its own updates don't make your spyware vunerable to more spyware!
still luv ya m8!
I hate the shit...my games don't save anymore I don't know how to disable it or get my games to autosave and save
You forgot to mention, you should have a good VPN.
Total protection from Ransomware don't use the computer 😂
is this a joke that i am too linux to understand
i like backups tho
Adwcleaner, for sure. Plz check.
You would think that for all the billions lost that Microsoft would devote as many resources to security as they did to the development of Windows 8-10. And for all that time and money that was wasted you would think that there would hordes paying to develop programs to replace Microsoft products and Windows.
Windows Home users: Tough poop peasants!
I though you used PIA.?
After the buyout, I moved to ExpressVPN. Much faster and better imo.
Ok ...thank you
John heikkinen ExpressVPN is much better
my all files encrypted with .lalo extension ransomware.help me.you are my only solution.
just install linux /s
I'm sure if everyone had Linux they would be finding more ways to do ransomware on that too though
