Omg, thank you to your reaction to this movie. At the end when you were crying i had to look away to try not to cry, but even then the tears still came. Thank you again for letting us watch you watch the movie.
What makes me tear up while listening to the chorus, it's knowing the fact that she's unable to dream and hold her love one(s) anymore. That's most likely what her fam and husband thought of when finally hearing the song for themselves after she passed, since she died during that albums development😩 And you can just hear the passion in this song, she died too early without witnessing how the impact of her unfinished album affected the world and music industry.
I watched this for the first time like when I was like 5 and omg I cried I am spanish and I dont know how to speak it but I know every single lyric to all of her spanish songs and that is the only spanish I can speak to this day.

Before Selena died she kept having a dream that someone was throwing roses out to her on stage but she couldn’t catch it. She said she hated the dream and didn’t understand it. I believe that’s what that scene is about @ 1:59:30
Yes that's what that scene is about but to get deeper into his "was that symbolic for something?" question...remember the scene in La Bamba where Buddy Holly tells Ritchie Valens "stars don't fall from the sky" and then the plane crashed from the storm? Well, Selena not being able to catch the white rose, which were her favorite, was her "star" falling. It was a bad omen she kept having. 😔
Also in her last show, it happened. Someone threw the rose and she couldn’t catch it. White rose symbolises purity and innocence. She had a beautiful soul, may she rest in peace.
Omg I have never heard of that and I’m like obsessed with her! Did she share that with a relative and they shared it in a interview? Where did you hear that or read that? I’d love to see or read it too. Thanks
Wow. I had no idea about this. I've seen and heard so many details of her life, me being ten years old when she died. Where did you find this out? So intretesting. No wonder that why they made that scene in the movie.
NOTE: The "extras" were actually Selena's fans who were at the Astrodome and those who auditioned to be Selena. That's why they look so familiar from the real footage of her concert. This was truly a passion project of love and that's why it still resonates so much with us today. Also, in Mexican culture, the white rose means a funeral or omen. That's why it meant so much in that moment. It was a great cinematic use of culture to let the audience know to brace ourselves.
Whole mood of the movie changes when that witch makes her first appearance onscreen. But I have to say, I got nothing but love for Lupe Ontiveros for being brave and taking on that role because at the end of the day, someone had to play Yolanda. Sadly, this choice did haunt Lupe after the release such as receiving death threats. Lupe was a great character actress during her career who unfortunately became victim to typecast where she played the stereotypical Mexican maid many times.

I agree, that’s why dreaming of u has always been a sad song to me :(
It’s the part “I’ll be holding you tight” that has a ballad-like somber note that hits you

He had to break the news to my mom when she got home from the grocery store. Then I came home from my grocery store job and he had to tell me. Then when my older sister got there, he had to tell her. I get so sad that my dad had to tell all his loved ones of this tragedy. Breaks my heart.

In an interview with Chris, he said that He played that riff LIVE because the actor (John Seda) didn’t know how to play the guitar 🎸 so they asked the REAL CHRIS to do so and it was Brilliant. I thought that was a Great tid bit of real news on him 😁👏🏼😁👏🏼

She said if she can’t have Selena in her life then no one will. Selena was always worned by her husband that she was to nice and she couldn’t trust everyone. But Selena’s heart was just to big she was to humble. unfortunately that was her downfall trusting that killer
