I hope you are feeling better and Sharon is better. Great video again, this is why you have given me the inspiration to try powder coating. Thanks for your advice earlier.
Excellent outcome! Two of my schools used these for transporting pupils - one in Worcestershire and one in Lancashire. The 53-seat Duple Vega Major as depicted here cost about £5,500 complete in 1968, chassis only for about £1,500. The Bedford VAL chassis came with a Leyland diesel engine and very distinctive Clayton brakes.
I agree with everyone else, a little bit of commentary makes the video much more enjoyable. Butler's bus lines down the sides would look good 😀. Nice resto for a sick fella 👍
Well as the song went the self ‘preservation ‘ society quite apt Hehehehe yes I believe it was a duple bodied VAL I think Bedford chassis ,nice the driver who played mark in UFO and flew the moonbase interceptors drove it well until he skidded hehe
Have the exact same bus since i was quite young, is still in reasonable condition too thankfully. Have it parked on a shelf in lounge, last year I had a friends dad come round and offer me £90!!!for it.... Hell no, more sentimental value for me!! Brilliant restoration mow mow man!!
Brilliant restoration. I'm a bit of a purist and I thought changing the interior color would take away from its originality; but alas, the new color looked incredible. Well done and the narration was immensely appreciated as well. Take Care.
Thanks for that! I have always wondered if MAZAK alloy was tough enough to take being sandblasted and withstand the heat of powdercoat curing. Thanks to you, now I know. Nice one. Lovely restoration, and I was hoping that you'd repaint the interior in red - I do recall going on school trips many, many years ago, and coach interiors always being a deep red.
Nice one Martin , good to no the powder coating is ok for these toys ,funny you should post this video, I am bidding on a couple of these to restore myself at the moment, hope you get Better soon.
Well done Martin; another great restoration and I much prefer your videos with narration as you offer advice as you go along...it’s much better...please please keep the narration in future videos...break away from the norm 👍🏼
Very enjoyable Martin. Just had my first full week off this year and woke up last Saturday full of cold from folk at work! 😡 Still got it now, so I know how you feel. Hope you're better soon. Great video. 😊
That looks great Martin top job 👏👏 a real good plastic polish is that stuff you use to restore car headlights, it would last you year's the amount you would use on the die casts, love your videos buddy 👍👍
Hi Martin, this brings back some memories as I had one just like that as a kid (iirc if you "lean" the body in the direction desired the front wheels "steer" round the corner which on the deluxe version also made the orange indicator lamps on the side light up) which was one of my favourites, hope you feel better soon.
I remember owning this model in the early sixties and lying on the floor in the long hallway that crossed the dwelling we lived in and feeling the warmth of the oil furnace that warmed me the back .... wow i think i'm getting nostalgic ...🤔
Excellent job as usual Martin. Commentary makes it more interesting. You could have got rid of some of the seats and had a Michael Caine figure with a crate of gold in the back.😉 Get well soon.
I'm playing a drinking game. Taking a shot for every time you say _''as I say''._ I'm only 3:40 in to this video, and I'm almost shit-maracked already! LOL. Crack on!
@@RetroHax - Awww crap! - Oh well then...a toast to RetroHax: ''Cheers! and bottoms up!'' _...Digger Dawg now laying paralytic on the floor beside a now empty JD bottle..._
Nice restoration of this Duple bodied Bedford Vega coach. I'd love to see a restoration of the Berliet Paris bus 889. I was thinking you might have painted the seats light green or light blue. Results were excellent. Only gripe is you didn't paint under the seats, can be seen through the base and a box would have completed it fully but otherwise great.
Hello Martin. I really enjoy watching your videos, I think they're very interesting and I can learn stuff from it. I find it is much better for you to have your commentary on these videos. It makes the videos more interesting. I can see why you don't want to use the powder coat on the tiny cars.
Get well soon Martin yet another quality restoration reminds me of the coach on carry on at your convenience on their yearly factory outing hah Haaah hah lol keep up the good work 👍👍👍
I saw the thumbnail and thought “Getta bloomin’ move on!” It’s clearly not a model of the coach used in The Italian Job but I whistled the end credits tune as I watched your video... thank you!
Exceptional job! I especially like your choice of color for the seats. It drives me crazy to see someone paint seats brown in a blue pickup. The people who make real autos and trucks color match carefully. So should model companies and restorers
I enjoyed seeing you sandblast and power coat, but having seen it, it seemed like the finished model had less detail than it could have. Also, since the underside of the plastic insert could be seen when the model is upside down, I think it would have been better to paint the bottom of that piece as well. Finally, the glass seemed thick enough stand a bit of sanding. I think there was room to restore the windshield a little bit more. Enjoyable video. I hope you take my comments as constructive.
That's quite a special coach. It was in the Italian Job. Now just need a hunk o' gold and 3 minis! No. Correction.. It was a Harrington Legionnaire. Similar though!
Great resto Martin, and I like the new color on the interior - it looks much better than the original color. And get well soon mate, you gotta take care of yourself. 🤒👍👍👍
Hi Martin love the colour scheme for the bus it’s come out beautifully, just one thing that I would like to make you aware of I’m sure you are already and that is you can use a process called retro bright, the process is for plastics that have been sun bleached as like this was, my under standing that a chemical called bromine leaches out of the plastic when UV rays hits it. Look it up, there is a couple of channels on UA-cam that explains the process better than I could ever do, retromancave and David Murray from the 8 bit guy does a very good video on how to set it up. Anyway happy learning. Steve.
The coach you just restored was known as a chinese six 0r bedford V.A.L, the air over hydraulic brakes were terrible, they used tiny 10 " drums and faded out really badly, afterwards they used a electric magnet that the prop shaft ran through which was powered by the vehicles batteries, this was v.effective in reducing speed down hill and the brakes helped it to stop, but the magnet only worked if you had v.good batteries.
What a great restoration , looking for one of these Coach's for my collection.
Just to let you now i have now bought one of these coach's .
I had this ! From memory the indicators came on when the wheels turned.
Quite right. The holes in the side had yellow lenses and when you pressed and turned they iluminated
I always like your videos. Love the sand blasting and powder coating painting! Great job!! I always appreciate when someone paints the taillights in!
Superb little stove. I have a twin burner model and that throws out a fantastic heat
I hope you are feeling better and Sharon is better. Great video again, this is why you have given me the inspiration to try powder coating. Thanks for your advice earlier.
No problem Jeff
Excellent outcome!

what an awesome result 😎👍
Beautiful job! Better than new!
I agree with everyone else, a little bit of commentary makes the video much more enjoyable. Butler's bus lines down the sides would look good 😀. Nice resto for a sick fella 👍
I have both varieties at home in my bus collection. Very nice job
Cool, thanks
On top of the beautiful project, i agree the narration is an excellent extra! All your videos are entertaining! Thanks!
That came out really well. Reminds me of the bus in 'The Italian Job'.
Well as the song went the self ‘preservation ‘ society quite apt Hehehehe yes I believe it was a duple bodied VAL I think Bedford chassis ,nice the driver who played mark in UFO and flew the moonbase interceptors drove it well until he skidded hehe
Good job . I like the interior painting it's nice to see more detailing on the interior.

Large or small objects is there nothing that can't be powder coated to a super standard, great little referb as usual!

Yeah but its fine bud, It tells a story now.
Looks great! A lot of restorers use Pledge floor polish to make the clear windows look even better. Watch Marty’s Matchbox Makeover channel.
Yes I know I have some.
That's quite a special coach. It was in the Italian Job. Now just need a hunk o' gold and 3 minis!
No. Correction.. It was a Harrington Legionnaire. Similar though!
Really enjoyable holiday on the buses 😂
Hope you feel better soon martin you sound chocked full x also just realised hope Sharon ok
Thanks Chris, yes we both are.
I like the "talkies" The coach came out beautifully.Great job (as usual). Feel better soon Martin!

You should look into some retrobright videos. The sears would have been prime candidate for it.
I know all about that Patrick
Great resto Martin, and I like the new color on the interior - it looks much better than the original color. And get well soon mate, you gotta take care of yourself. 🤒👍👍👍
