- Really lucky with some great conditions for our five day cruise in my Mk1 Wayfarer dinghy 'Shuna'. We launched at Mount Batten and explored the Lyhner River, Plymouth Sound and The Yealm before returning to Mount Batten.

Splendid to see the views of Plymouth area scenery (yes, even including the warships) and despite the calm conditions, the lads enjoying the adventure. Having worked in the the USA for many years, missing the south coast from Cornwall to the Solent -- I especially enjoyed the nostalgic sights of the classic Wayfarer and the coast there. Thank you!
Thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed it!
I am 5 mins into the video and the best thing about this is the big smiles on the kiddies faces........That is what boating is all about.....BRILLIANT!
Many thanks for your comments - yes it was a happy adventure! Ginger beer and cake doesn't do any harm ....!
Another one of your awesome wayfarer cruises. Keep up the excellent adventures and thanks for sharing!
Thanks - more coming very soon!
Thanks, great video. Love the area, and the natural sounds.
Thanks for your comment, definitely a great cruising area!
Have had bigger boats in the past but this has given me the inspiration to perhaps look for a wayfarer lot of things going for it particularly the versatility.
Great boats, very versatile as you say, also great class association!
Thanks for your reply yes I shall monitor things Wayfarer there's always the odd boat or two lying around yacht clubs so might look at a doer upper in the future.
The kids will remember that the rest of their lives, when you are gone they will miss you and think of those trips.
What an enjoyable trip. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks very much for your comment, it sure was!
Wow the weather looked good and blissful fun having the life afloat, now dreaming of some sun.
A wonderful and inspiring video!
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video - I’m hoping to do a similar trip with my boys next year
Thank you, and best of luck next year!
Oh I did enjoy this one. You’re a lucky or should I say fortunate man!
Great video...stunning scenery..
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Wayfarers seem a lot like my 19' lightning. Nice cursing grounds. All we have is 1 small harbor and open ocean (Maui) aloha
This video convinced me to buy a Wayfarer. Thanks 😎
Superb! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your comment, glad you enjoyed it.
What a great trip! Love the dinghy paddling. Would be tempted to leave my kids in it and tow them 10 meters out the back for some peace!
Thanks, think the boys would have loved that!
Hi there. could you tell me more about your tent. it looks brilliant and has full height at the sides with your clever mod taking a line to the shrouds .
genius !
Thanks for dropping by and your comment. Yes the tent is great with lots of room inside, good sitting headroom all the way round due to the side poles between the support at the aft end of the boom and the shrouds, makes living on board quite comfortable. Don't really think there's a lot else to say!
Great stuff!
Great adventure, thanks for posting....I'm thinking your 'tent' set-up is probably the best arrangement I've seen on a wayfarer so far. Is it 'home knitted'?, bought?....did you find a pattern somewhere?..How does it perform when the weather isn't so great?
Thanks for your comment. Tent was bought second hand but in very good condition (made by Canvas Windmill who I believe are no longer in business, not sure what the options are now for buying anything new). It's pretty good in all weathers, it keeps the rain out and has survived a fair few windy nights!
Isnt that millbrook I dont like it there it reminds me of the hell on earth town
what a nice voyage
Thanks!
As salty a crew as there's ever been! Great stuff!
Спасибо!
I was on the boat (the older one of the monkeys) and the submarine at 0:52 is as impressive as it looks.
Прекрасное видео! Хорошая семья! Удачи вам ребята!
I was curious: "Excellent video! Good family! Good luck guys!"
A little late to the game but please tell you about mounting the motor. May wayfarer has a bouncy bulkhead inside the rear hatch where your mount is. What was your method of mounting the bracket?
Thanks for your comment, Shuna is a Mk1 originally with two blocks of foam in the aft buoyancy tank. I cut out the one on the port side in order to access the inside of the transom. Then drilled holes for bolts for the transom shoe for the (removable) engine bracket with a substantial ply pad on the inside of the transom to spread the load. The ply was glued with gap filling epoxy due to the roughness of the inside of the transom and then through bolted with the mounting shoe bolts. Its one of those jobs where the lots of thinking and measuring is required before you start drilling. Afterwards I added some closed cell foam into the aft tank to compensate for what I'd removed (the original stuff was pretty crumbly, well past its best, I'm sure it would have absorbed water had it got wet, so the new closed cell foam is much better). Hope that helps, good luck!
Thanks so much for the thoughtful response. Stay safe and good health.
No problem you're welcome, and same to you.
And lashings of Ginger Beer...
1.50 "lashings of ginger beer"
Cant have too much ginger beer on board!
