As many has pointed out, they did in fact find out the same way as the rest of us. They watched this video (there is a member announcement reaction video on their channel). Lots of crying, but they handled it very well considering their age. There aren't really anymore songs (unless you count the remixes) but there is still a ton of content worth watching: - Last Evaluation - Behind the Scenes Ep 1-3 - BTS for all the MVs etc - Knowing Bros ep 429 - Idol Human Theatre + Idol Human Theatre BTS - See You There BTS (from their fan-meeting tour they did) - Silence Idol - Lee Mujin Service - Rami These are all relatively easy to find (except maybe the Knowing Bros one). Looking forward to more Babymonster.
So for Pharita, there seems to be an edit after he posts her picture. Bad edit yes for sure, but he probably did say something about her. It definitely isn’t just because she speaks English alone, or whatever. It’s her monster talent. And later he most definitely said very positive things about Rora (main vocal of new group) and Asa (lead in Japan project). One can ask, a bit tongue in cheek, why are you not “grieving” or upset for the dozens of potential members that actually did get cut? Or course ‘cause we never met them in this series. It’s YG’s job to whittle a lot of amazing talent down, cutting some we never hear about. Sure, he’s a bit of a D, but I actually mostly respect his process, considering the nature of his job. Look, he very well may have had only 5 in mind, or 7 in mind, and maybe he sets this evaluation series up where he gives the audience a taste of the cut-throat process knowing he has 7 in mind…actually in one episode he essentially says that these episodes provide us viewers a taste of the process. Who knows what he thought. But sure, viewers were manipulated. Yet is it so nefarious to do so, or isn’t all entertainment doing this by its very nature? Blah, blah, blah, sorry, just rambling on. Keep in mind that YG has great admiration for Rora and Asa. While I’m happy they are part of Baemon, suggesting they could be the face of the group and lead other projects, isn’t treating them “mean.” Consider that currently, with 7 members, Rora has to compete with all those other voices. Fans complain about their favorites not getting enough lines or screen time... down to the last second. Now imagine her being THE focus of another group. Not competing with Rami for Main Vocalist. YG wanted her to shine like an aurora and was looking out for her. We’ll never know, but it may have actually been better for her career in the long run.
babymonster idol human theater and silence of idol are pretty good and fun variety of them (in the first one you get to know their personalities even more)
As recommendations I say start from the beginning! If you’ve already reacted to Batter Up there’s 3 episodes of the making of Batter Up and you can see how nervous they all were! And then they three special stages where YG tried to prepare them for their first live performance on an award show! BABYMONSTERS told him they didn’t want to promote anything until Ahyeon’s return! 🤘🙏🏻
So if you have heard of a group called MOEVV which is under THE BLACKLABEL. The member Gawon was one of the trainees in BAEMON Project which has now become BABYMONSTER. In the introduction video they show as many as 10 trainees which means in that year they cut three from the group. Gawon leaving YG as a tyrainee to become one of THE BLACKLABEL trinees happened if I remember it correctly in 2021 which makes sense since that is when Chiquita was added to the BAEMON Project. Keep in mind that YG Entertainment is running a business and along with that they have a budget when they are going to debut a group. It may have been that there was only budgeted for 5 members to debut and they had to do a few things to make it 7. There was a lot of uncertainty during the time when they were making choices in debuting the members. For one they didn't know if BLACKPINK would resign their contacts as individuals or a group. They didn't know if Yang Hyun-suk would be going to jail as his trail was coming up. Their stock kept dropping as the rumors that BLACKPINK would not resign any contract with YG Entertainment. So you noticed that Asa was younger than you thought, that is because when the video went live there was three members with the wrong ages. Ahyeon should be been 16, Chiquita would have been 14, and Asa should have been 17 since their birthdays had passed when this announcement was made but it was actually recorded a year earlier in June 2022. April/May 2022 was when THE LAST EVALUATION was recorded and people who followed YG's new girl group would have already known by this time that all 7 members were going to debut since they were spotted at the BLACKPINK BORN PINK connect 2nd day in October 2022. The announcement video premiered in May 11, 2023 in the US. After the announcement, there was an incident with Ahyeon that a video surfaced of her saying the N word while preforming a rap at her schools talent show. She had gotten so much backlash that it ost likely caused her mental distress. Their is no official word why she had left the group but the timing seems to line up with what happened. She disappeared from BABYMONSTER's social channels around June - July 2023 and when YG finally was ready to debut BABY,MONSTER they announced that it would be without Ahyeon because of medical reasons. What was most likely happening behind the scenes was that they had hoped that Ahyeon would be well enough to return before they were to debut BABYMONSTER because they needed to. BLACKPINK individual member contracts was not finalized in Aug 2022 which was when their contracts were up. The only active group they would have then would be TREASURE so it was cause for concern for YG Entertainments stocks. Some of this is speculation since we don't have all of the facts like the reasons why Ahyeon went on hiatus but most of this were the facts at that time.
My opinion, YG had made drama out of nowhere for 2 reasons, the first was about marketing purpose for gaining audiences attention, and the second was to push 7 final trainees to perform the fullest potential of their skills. He might roughly had made decision to create 7 members girl group since before shoot the Last Evaluation video series because he always know these girls skills and talents for years through monthly evaluations. . I am quite very sure the girls had been heard the announcement not many hours before video publicly released at midnight. And I quite sure there was an aftermatch talking between YG and the girls to explain or reveal the plot to prevent mental harm to the girls, too.
Don't forget the final 5 was likely selected in 2021 but never debuted. YG hinted that selection was Rora, Pharita, Asa, Ruka and Ahyeon when he first introduced the Black and white solo performances together with a 5 member dance performance. At the time Blackpink Lisa had grown the Thailand Market into a mega market for YG. Thai members became a must have so auditions went out and they found Pharita out of thousands of applicants. She trained for a year but still no debut insight as she was not quite ready. Then they found Chiquita who was performing with Red Rose in Thailand and within 3 months of training YG was ready to launch. Chiquita has an uncanny similarity with Lisa in that she was a dance and performance genius but with an added benefit of a powerful and angelic vocals. All 7 were already selected either with Baby Monster or other YG groups and the last evaluation was to decide how to add the Thai members into the final 5 and who they will replace. But the girls performed so incredibly well together that they convinced fans and YG Baby Monster is OT7.
So, the korean group he mentions as wanting to put Rora in most likely is Meovv. There would be no other girl group anywhere close to debuting in YG. I have no idea if he really is working on a Japanese group (i doubt it). That being said, the whole thing was media play. YG is built on the concept of the fans hating Him and the company in general.
Along For The Ride the 7 members watched the same announcement we did so if you think they knew ahead of time you are mistaken! They by the time YG picked Pharita RUKA and RAMI were a mess Ahyeon was hugging RORA and Chiquita and Pharita were hugging ASA! Even the ladies from AR were upset! Maybe a controversial take but I think that member reaction video is all smoke and mirrors and that the girls are great actors. First it would just be too awful to put Rora and Asa through the whole schtick about other plans for them even it was just for a minute, second there is a scene in the Last Evaluation teaser #2 with Asa, Pharita, and a BROWN haired Rami, BAWLING their eyes out, but Ruka on the verge of tears has a huge smile on her face and Ahyeon enters the scene and hugs Asa. It's interspersed with Leejungs reaction to the 2NE1 cover but their outfits don't match that scene...I think this is a shot from when they actually found out that all of them were debuting.
There is no Japanese group, nor was there ever going to be. Remember this announcement came in May of 2023 and have not heard another word about a Japanese global girl group form YG. Besides, Rora and Asa trained for 5-6 years and I don't think they would have wanted to endure another year of training. Also, it wouldn't be Babymonster without the Asa/Ruka rap dynamic. C'mon now!
I’m sorry to burst your bubble! But did you not watch ASA’s Introduction! She specifically said she first met RUKA in Japan at the YG audition! And BABYMONSTERS have spent more time in Japan during the Fan/Concerts which YG was at to help them get ready because they were a nervous wreck! And YGE put out the invitations at the end of 2023 for a Global Girl Group in Japan! And a couple of months ago he put out the invitations for a Girl Group in Seoul! Not too mention the Monster Group that will debut next year! There’s plenty of proof out there I was lucky that it popped up on my feeds!🤘🙏🏻

The reasons l gather why Rora & Asa not chosen could be:: Rora is very young and Asa is a perfect rapper but do not have YG Dna , not swaggy enough. Her rapping is fast and good but not YG style. Just my thoughts.
