This show is the greatest parody of "outdoor show hosts" I've ever seen. As a native zonie I've never heard anyone refer to a jumping cholla has soft and fuzzy. The ranger does say how painful it is when stuck in you (like a porcupine quill on steroids). The ranger advises removing them with a comb and Ike pulls out a hair pick, with a straight face 🤣 There are other classic bits in both shows, but this one is classic! It is very difficult to shoot a show that looks and feels serious and then the host comes in and boom and with his lines and forced stiff persona he leaves you howling. As pugs&hugs commented below it is VERY Punny. Thanks PBS for giving us a break from another "hiking show" and Ike keep up the great work👋
I live a few miles west of the Supes and the sun comes up behind them every morning. I,ve topped that mountain a couple dozen times and it's always changing in color
Speaking of the Thunder God, as a child, I spent alot of time with my maternal grandparents on their Texas ranch. I recall lots of times hearing loud thunder on their ranch. It cracked and boomed. I found it exciting. Grandpa said it was the "tater wagon" rolling down the cobbled streets of Heaven. I said it was God talking.
I've been in a lot of mountains and those Superstition Mountains are different, you have a desert of 4000' hills or wash canyons and dry river beds, the trails can disappear behind you, Superstition Mountain itself is alive i believe, I've spent 3 to 4 nights in those Superstition Mountains and it is a fantastic experience. As for treasure hunting, the little people don't mind you looking, they don't mind if you find, just keep your hands off the gold,,,I leave tokens, fire, food, water, steel, tobacco and vegetable seeds,,,I leave a little gold or silver behind when I leave,,,I was on ironview peak during the Pheonix ufo sighting, 7 lights on a flying wing around 1 mile wing tip to wing tip, it moved slowly to the east then NE and it got dark, then the flair went off over the mountains to the west,,,in the videos you can't see it, but even at my distance I could see aircraft drop the flairs using my US Navy 10x50 binoculars, helicopters,,, Those Superstition Mountains are not a safe place, big bears, cougar, timber wolf, Bobcat, ocelot, coyote, so many things that want to eat you, the harvester ants for instance,,,research your path, leave stars all along your path on Google maps, take 3 times the water you think you'll need, while active eat every 2 hours, I do granola, nut, fruit chocolate bars,,, I'll be seeing those Superstition Mountains again in 2025, I'm taking friends this time,,,😊🖖🤏thanks for a great video
Superstition mountain is not even close to one million yrs old. You really have no clue what you're talking about. You are at best making assumptions. I have to turn down the volume
You’re totally right it’s not close to 1 million years old at all it’s substantially older then that! You gotta realize it had magma pouring down it when it was formed it’s been quite a while

Wish we knew the truth regarding Egyptian's in the Grand canyon
Okay, now this one got me good, about broke my foot running to the comments 🤣
Hope your foot's okay -- you're gonna need it to hike those trails! 😉
Awesome video. Thank you
Wow
Looks like a old castle or bulding

Good luck for your next expedition!
❤❤❤❤❤
It should be renamed "death mountain".
Most of the video is overexposed. Why?
Very punny 😂
