Just scrapped the same machine (purchase date 2005) for the same reason. I'm my case no build up of limescale, but the shock absorbers that you mention you had replaced had gone on my machine as well. Main bearing solid in mine as well. So I think it's enough to run a load with a worn shock to total the machine. Premium price machine with economy suspension.... won't be buying Bosch-Siemens again.
We got an Ebac (not sponsored) as a replacement. The guys at our local domestic appliance shop use them so that's as good a recommendation I was likely to get.
Wow now that is a catastrophic fail never seen a machine do that. Had it become any louder lately because it takes a lot of friction from the tub and drum catching for that to happen.
I had been advised that "the washing machine made some funny noises this morning" but having not heard it make the noises I assumed it was due to an unbalanced load making it hit the adjacent units. On the whole nothing was detected, I suppose the wearing was very gradual. There were quite a few bits of plastic in the filter as well.
I already knew what the problem was when I took the front off and I wanted to make the "the front fell off" reference which I couldn't do from the bottom. I have done some repairs by tilting it and it is a useful access point, although laying it on it's side means you have to pick it up again.
Excellent vlog thanks
Thank you, I hope it helped.

Wouldn't it have been easier just to turn the machine on its side for access?

@@twotone3070 Ok, I see what you mean.
Who was hurting you?
🙂
Had there been anyone there at all, it would have been my long suffering wife.
