Hi sir, do you think it’s possible or had students in the past that went from D to an A in a short time? I just got my march mock results and got a D 😢 need an A to secure my apprenticeship
Yes, it is possible - but you have to be working HARD, and be very, very dedicated from this point on! It won’t happen by chance and luck - you really need to put the work in, so get serious about it! Let me know if you need more guidance.
Hi Sir! I really need some advice. I have an offer from Cambridge and need an A in maths but currently am so worried that this will not happen. What should I be doing in these coming weeks to ensure that I secure that A grade?
So much timed exam practice! If you want some reassurance with some of the more challenging topics, you could also consider attending some of my revision sessions - they aim to show people some of the most challenging content so that you are more equipped to deal with unusual questions. Congrats on your place at Cambridge!
Hi sir for the online lessons once paid for at the times stated will we expect an email to join the zoom call or a confirmation of beginning. I plan to book the normal and further maths classes so I would like to be aware of what to expect
I have paid for a few and you receive a conformation email straight away and it says in the email that the link to the zoom meeting will be sent out around a week before the scheduled time along with the materials/slides needed
Firstly, thank you supporting my channel for many months now, I really appreciate it! Once you book the session, @elliestubbs2981 is correct that you get a confirmation email - I'm currently working on the slides, so once these are ready, these will be sent out, along with the Zoom link and further details. Thank you!
You'll definitely gain some really good tips! I've gone for some challenging questions and the pace can be quite strong so that we get through a lot - but students last year found rewatching questions with the recording was really useful too. Thanks for the support!
@@ikunim_ What a lovely thing to say - thank you - please let me know if there's anything I can do! P.S. If you feel the pace might be fast, I'd probably recommend having a read through the questions/maybe try one or two in advance of the session, so that the pace will feel more comfortable. Just a thought! :)
It depends on which topic - these aren't sessions to teach you all the content, really looking at the most challenging questions. Some topics will get 10-15 minutes (plus extra questions + video after) and some more like 25 minutes depending on the challenge level - does that make sense? The sessions are intended to direct you to some of the trickiest parts of questions :)
If I’m working at a C right now Will these classes be too difficult for me? Also what would you recommend I do to improve since I need an A for my offer
Good question! The classes are designed to be challenging, but there'll surely be many areas where you'll find yourself seeing ways to get more marks. Here's what I'd recommend - try one of the earlier sessions, and see how you find it. When you sign up for the ticket, you're immediately sent the questions that I'll be using. It'd be worth you having a look at these before the session, as this will help you with the faster pace. And then you can decide whether the rest would suit you! As I've said before, the recording will also be available, so you can rewatch challenging parts, too. Although it's designed for high grades, you will still gain lots from it, I hope :)
Sir you know the pure b topic the date is likely to be on Eid so many people including myself can't attend . Is there a possibility you can change this to a later date.
I can't believe I didn't check for this, I am so sorry! As I have already sold loads of tickets, I cannot move the date now - the best option is probably to sign up for the session, have the recording and all the other materials, and to watch when you are available, and know that you can email me if you have any questions that aren't covered/discussed in the session. I will make sure I check for next year, but realise this probably won't matter as Eid will be even earlier in the year. Again, my apologies. Ramadan Kareem!
Really similar in style to the other sessions, focussing on the higher level exam skills. The CP1 session I recommend to anyone doing AS or A-Level Further Maths as the content comes up again at the end of course exams.
Personally, FM1 isn't all that bad compared to normal mechanics as long as your willing to put in the work and have a general interest in it as some of the concepts are more advanced but not impossible.
I haven't been able to set up a process for this in time for this year - but if you email me with evidence of your bursary at sebbicen@gmail.com I'll see what I can do... :)
Random question ,am I allowed to use a highlighter and a color other than black to annoate a question and the diagrams. When doing questions where part asked for an answer to 3sf and the next part of the question requires using part a's answer do I use the full calculator display or the asked answer from part a?
Yes, you can - but they might not show up when scanned in. So if you're using it for your own benefit, that's fine - but if you're wanting to communicate with them, then it's not OK. I would recommend using them if it helps, though! As for your second question, examiners will be expecting either - I personally think it's easier to use the rounded version they asked for in part (a)
All the details can be found here - they are at various times and dates www.tickettailor.com/events/bicenmaths Whilst most of my channel is free, these events are paid-for - this is because I put a lot of time into planning and arranging them!
Hi sir, I received my pure maths mock back and got 76/100 which is good but most of my mistakes were to silly errors such as misclicking sine for cos or not reading that it wants integers and not the fraction that I got. I could’ve easily got 90+ if it wasn’t for these mistakes so I would like to know if you have any tips or any way to kind of decrease that exam stress which is causing me to make these silly mistakes, I already do a lot of exam practice under timed conditions so if there are any other tips available, it would be really helpful 😁 Just a note, this isn’t an issue for any other of my subjects (bio and chem) or stats & mech, just pure.
Interesting! If you have enough time to slow down a little, that'd be really beneficial. I'd also recommend adding in extra lines of working rather than skipping too quickly, as that can reduce mistakes. Lastly, I'd suggest redoing questions to see if you end up with the same answer, rather than checking through your working - this is a better way of trying to detect if there are any mistakes. These all take up time though, so be careful!
Right now I'm preparing all these sessions rather than preparing for my own exams hahaha but I will be doing lots and lots of practice as I get closer to them!
Yes, mostly - but they won't just be past paper questions from the Exam Questions by Topic document I have in my Google Drive, I find questions from other places that are 'fresh' and 'unseen'.
Is that an IAL video? I am sensing there’s more demand for IAL things, so will hopefully be able to cater more to this next year when I get this big project of Further Maths content completed!
Hey sir I bought the Pure B and mechanics one I also wanted to get Pure A but it’s sold out now if I get the recorded version can I email you for help on stuff I don’t get thanks
Hey sir, I plan on buying your upcoming further maths sessions. I was wondering if you have any advice on the following, in my recent trial exam I got a C in FM I find myself having this issue of forgetting content I go over pretty quick. For instance, I had gone over CP Vectors and when I tried doing questions on it a week after I completely forgot how to do everything 😔. Do you have any advice on how to combat this. Thanks as always!
Great question! I would try and repeat the questions sooner than a week if you feel that it is slipping away too quickly - even repeating the same questions. You want to train your brain to be able to retain information, and sometimes waiting too long can mean it is even more of an effort when you return to it. I'd also like to add that being at a C right now is a strong position - the grade boundaries are relatively close, so every mark will count for you. Even just a few marks here and there will shift you to a B, and very soon you'll be working your way to other higher grades! Let me know if you have further questions, happy to answer them! :)
Hi sir, if we sign up to the session and have any questions/need any help, are we able to contact you and get a response? Or is it just the videos & resources you are providing? Thank you!
good evening sir just wanted to ask a question about ur videos say i wanted to go over a topic from scratch would it be most productive to watch a whole playlist of it with ur videos since i realised this may be time consuming but im really just looking any advice/insight. Thanks once again
It really depends on how much recapping you need - watching the videos all over again will be like me teaching you as though you don't know any of it. I'm hoping to create videos for this purpose in the future, but this won't be ready for at least a few months. I'd probably recommend attempting questions from different exercises in the textbook, and if you get stuck, to rewatch just the videos from the playlist that correspond to that exercise - from the title of the video. I hope that helps!
@@BicenMaths OK thanks for your advice yes I was thinking on weaker topics try it from the textbook and use ur videos to help with any weaknesses. Thank you for the advice🐐
Bicen, I was wondering which resources are you using to revise for Decision Maths. I have checked exam questions and they are structured differently compare to book's questions. Thanks for your time.
I haven't done a ton of revision yet, but I'll be using past paper questions, as well as questions from the old specification for D1 - there are some parts that are slightly different, but most is the same! www.physicsandmathstutor.com/a-level-maths-papers/#D1
