Two short years after the show for the ax while at the top of the CBS ratings Irene Ryan passed away. I loved the show so much, u was devastated and I was overseas in Jr. High at the time. I also enjoyed the two spinoff shows; Petticoat Junction and Green Acres, which got cancelled at the same time. This was called "The Rural Purge " when the network cancelled every show with. Tree in it. All were at the top of the ratings chart.
"Lassie" was canceled too, but its last year I thought it was rather strange, the dog wanders everywhere by itself, the owner, a park ranger,is only shown at the beginning, and the very end.
When I first saw the introduction to the show, according to the "ballad of Jed Clampet" song, I thought the reason Jed ran into the house and grabbed the stove pipe,I thought it was because oil was about to flood the house. Then I saw the first episode I understood it was because Jethro was about to smash into it but ended up smashing into the chicken house instead!😀
Question. According to the "Home for Christmas," it took them six days to get to California. That truck couldn't go faster than around 50 MPH so the trip should have taken longer. I think they must have camped out by the side of the road on the way.

They need to bring back shows like these, good wholesome family shows instead of the trash that's on TV now
