No no no! I know that safety on railroads is important but I don't see the point in removing the RRS bell. It takes so much away from this crossing, surely someone at CN thought wow I've never seen this bell before? But no. At least is wasn't replaced with an electronic bell.
Holy guys I’m sorry ! I removed the bell - it was skipping beats and not activating all the time. I did save it, let me see if I can clean it up and put it back. It weighs a tonne and I didn’t realize people actually noticed or cared. It was marked Made in Toronto, Ontario Canada 1960. The date the crossing was installed can you believe it. Original. I try to keep replacing with mechanicals as I hate e bells but CN new standard is preferred electronic as no moving parts.
hey if you want a free bell theres on one an abandoned railroad crossing in Cambridge at 43°23'56.5"N 80°21'02.3"W put these coordinates into google maps. i've already taken i sign from that crossing.
God Damit i was just there a few weeks ago waited for L540 got fed up and left had i know it was going to get replaced i would have waited but i had to get over to the Guelph sub as i GO Transit engineer promised to give me a horn show if they saw me. such a shame its gone
@@railfannernb2024 there is a crossing on the Guelph sub over by the board walk in Waterloo that had a mechanical bell a few years ago then to was replaced with a WCH E bell then strangely it got a mechanical bell again which replaced the E bell and its still there. it can be seen here in this video of mine ua-cam.com/video/m54HB_QdjJY/v-deo.html
You gotta be fucking kidding me. Another RRS bell gone. Like doesn’t CN realize what they’re doing with these extremely rare bells. The bell sounded perfectly fine, what a shame.. Sorry if I cussed. Was that the last RRS bell in Ontario on a real line?
CN doesn’t know or care about the rarity. The bell possibly could’ve died or something. There is a BZ bell on the Cayuga sub but as for RRS bells this was the last one afaik

I wouldn’t mind obtaining the bell for my own personal collection. In fact I’d absolutely love it. I could do the maintenance needed on it too
I hope you don't mind me asking, what branding does it list inside? WRRS, RRS, or something else?

I Live in Kitchener and got the train at that same crossing. A shame.
Great video.
A Beauty.
NOooo WHY CN THE BELL HAD NO PROBLEMS THERE'S NO POINT IN PUTTING ANOTHER BELL EXCEPT TO MAKE US MAD
That’s what I’m saying..
Maybe the bell died idk. CN doesn’t target railfans over crossing equipment
At least it’s not a Siemens E Bell, I’d take a 3rd gen WCH mechanical over that

Yes this was the last RRS but there is a Bryant Zinc bell near Aylmer. I can show you where it is
@@DRrailfanning3115 I know the one you’re talking about, the one on Best Line.
