My parents are Furries without realizing it. One day I asked them if I could make them a Fursona and they said yes. Then I started drawing comics of us as a family, they always loved to see them. Then I said, "Hey Mom, Dad, I'm gonna go to a furry convention one day." They just said, "Okay, can't wait to see what it's about. Should we get paws or tails?"
I was speechless after this but happy at the same time. No hate, just curiosity and happiness from them.

As an adult I don’t have to worry about what my parents think, though I understand it can be difficult for kids and teens if their parents don’t understand

My dad is 60 so he had no concept of what furries are, so when I explained to him that I am one, he decided to research and I caught him watching one of your videos, made my day when I saw it.
The Moms of Furries are awesome, but I would also love for more "chill spaces" for those of us in the fandom that are sex adverse or aren't into the drinking and all that. I know a LOT of us who just are uncomfortable with sexual stuff, even as adults.

I told my mom I was a furry right before this litterbox drama. She was very negative about me being a furry at first, but after seeing how easily people would believe any rumor, she was a lot less judgmental. I also sent her a few videos about it and she has kinda changed about it. She still doesn't want me to have a fursuit though lmao.
It's really weird how people say furrys are perverts when a large portion of the furry fandom are children...
Well there are furries of all ages but yeah the kids and teens are a part of it for sure
Though I think it’s mixed enough to say a large portion isn’t “just children” as I’ve seen many adult furries too
But yeah the fact that there are young furries helps prove that it isn’t a fetish at all

bro i had anxiety to talk to anyone but when i started a conversation with someone in the community my anxiety vanished idk but this fandom made me les scared to talk to people before then i never involved my self in anything now im making myself known to people then hiding away and to see the mums of the furry fandom are trying there hardest to give us a good name bc when i first was in the fandom my nan and my teacher was scared for me being one bc of fools rumors know that there are people telling the internet that we are not bad that will be good for the future to any one who reads this have a good rest of day/night and stay you bye

Not gonna lie, I was having this conversation with my mom earlier, and it’s clear she knows there’s good in it, but she almost always likes to being up the fact that there are problematic people within. (As with most groups of people.)
She has no problems with the fandom, and has been supportive, but it’s hard to just have a casual conversation about it with her without her kinda proving a lot of those misconceptions based on facts.

This article was shown to me on my Chrome on my mobile device, and it got lost because my device would not allow me to scroll back up to it resulting in the page refreshing and losing sight of the article. I wanted to see what it was but could never find it. I am grateful that someone else asides me got the same article.
I've only heard about the Mom's of Furries but it's really makes me happy to know that there are some trying to better inform people on the fandom.
My mom is kind of weird when it comes to furries and the furry fandom. She says that she doesn’t care and that she’ll support me no matter what. (Heck, she even managed to drive me to 2 furry conventions out of the kindness of her heart even though she isnt too crazy about them. She does however think fursuiters are cool though.) However, if I wear a tshirt or something that’s furry related in public like my Memphit Furmeet t shirt, she’ll be like “You really gotta wear that shirt? Why dont you pick a different shirt?” And I’m like “because I feel like wearing it” and the conversation ends there. I suppose she could be worse though. Whereas my dad just completely thinks furries are strange and creepy.
Some parents unfortunately will see stuff that way. Especially since it’s different and if some level of weird wasn’t already a norm in the household, most likely parents will look at you funny for expressing it. It doesn’t take much to misconstrue the fandom and while the fandom may not personally appeal much to her, I’m happy your mom still wants to be supportive of your interests. I love your pfp btw.
My mom is kinda like that, and my dad gave a 30 minute speech while I was alone with him that was essentially "You're weird and that's okay"

My mom hates furries because of CSI and now hates them even more because kids at my high school started using litter boxes(I had no clue cause I’m in middle school) and she burned my art supplies because she knew I had fursonas :(
Sadly the litter box for furries at school thing actually happened at my school as a "senior prank". Needless to say no one laughed. Stuff like that is what makes me so grateful for the Moms of Furries educating people, they're such angels to the Fandom and they've done so much good!

This video was really good, I have been hearing about the MOMS of furries for some time now, they just do not get the mention they should, they do a lot of good in the community and help a lot of kids and young adults as well.

7:29 I… I joined the fandom for that reason actually… well I mean I want to be an anthropomorphic fox technically but still, my fursona is just a basic fox, like legit nothing special about it, just a legit fox in almost every aspect.
If only I can join a furry convention or atleast interact with some furries in real life.

I am so lucky to have supportive family of me being a furry 😭I told my mom a while back I was a furry and asked her to take me to MFF, she agreed and ended up also taking my aunt and my cousin, they all enjoyed the convention way more than I expected and they’re already looking forward to next MFF 🤣

This is funny, because I was on Google a couple days ago to look at the price of my cars fuel pump and next thing I know I click on an article about mothers of furries.

While my dad thinks it’s a hobby and he doesn’t care, (which is probably the right approach), my mom was very supportive and interested. My parents, though their wording is different, aren’t going to bash me for a hobby.
Edit: when I say interested I mean that she was like “oh, when you’re older you can get a fur suit.”. I’m sure she’d being willing to even go to a con with me nowadays. I’m just shocked she’s in her late 30s and understands what a furry is.

They do miss a little from the other troubles my mom has with the fandom like for some reason price even though in literally every other fandom has expensive things also as a historian (somewhat) i know what the tulip mania is and a single tulip would cost 100s of thousands of dollars in the Netherlands if it was it was adjusted do inflation and currency

Aren't a large majority of the furry community minors? A smaller percentage of the fandom is a little questionable. Although every community and/or fandom always has a bad side, the furry community usually takes the most blame for it. I love the Moms of Furries, they always try their best to educate new furries and "normal" people about the furry fandom.
