This is honestly one of the most interesting things I’ve seen for the PS2 recently. It’s super neat to know what Sony released something like this even if it never took off.
Thanks for showing this! Recently, a Japanese friend of mine sent a bunch of PS2 related stuff for a gaming event I'm having (because some older Fighting games have either a very good version here, or they are exclusives most of the time), and a lot of these HDD cards were included, wondered if they worked with FMCB and glad it does, I will just see if the BB Nav works better than OPL because man, that's a lovely menu, is really mid-00s style and I just love it. Thank you for showing and explaining it! Cheers from Mexico.
@poof69420 dreamcast too. And the Saturn could also browse the internet and play online but idk about dlc. Genesis and snes also had some download channels and online play features.
What you've got there is a very heavily modified version of the BB Navigator software. It has been (mostly) translated into English from the original Japanese, a lot of options have been added that were not available on the official release also literally everything has been moved around and put on different menu screens. Even the main menu has different options to the official release. It's as far from stock as it could possibly be.
yeah I'm aware because i had to find a laptop with that PCMCIA washer port to flash that image file, i do stil link it for people, i also have dumped and linked the discs for my 0.10 software that came with the PSBBN kit.
Do you know of how to load this on a softmodded scph-30002 with an HDD? New to the modding scene. Got it running fmbc off a memory card and copied it to the HDD. Edit: looked into your channel. My God you deserve more views.
you can use any IDE HDD and image it with the normal scph-50004/30002 ps2 with the network adapter. i can provide an image and a gui tool to image if you want to try it.
@@greyskiesrainfallandpeace3006 That was fast. Please, that would make it much easier. @Grey Skies, Rainfall And Peace mate, thanks for the video. I bought a brand new scph-10000 v1.00 as a self-gift for my college graduation, along with a 20400 external drive kit. So far enjoying the "it's 2000 all over again" experience. :-) I was wondering how did you manage to get the splash screen to show up? I installed FMCB 1953 on my unit. The hard drive modules load fine (the HDD and Browser 2.00 get initalised and I can load HDD games just fine) but FMCB won't display its menus on the OSD and I can't see the SCE splash screen either. If I plug out the HDD, then FMCB loads as usual. Any suggestions? Much appreciated :-D
@extalia heyo there I'm using a custom freeHD boot + PSBBN english image, it should be linked somewhere here otherwise I'll have a look and link you to the custom hdd image.
I would like to see the HDD that goes inside the PS2 and know what it does WITHOUT Free McBoot, I know one of the Final Fantasy games saved it's updates on HDD but was there any other games that used it like save part of the game for fast loading or other things
Some games actually _did_ use the PS2 hard drive (even in the west) for exactly those purposes. We wouldn't have the PS2 System Data add-on for PS3 over here otherwise. (PS2 System Data allows PS2 discs to use a section of the PS3 HDD as if it were a PS2 HDD, and is possibly also required for network capabilities)
How would I go along installing this on a Fat PS2 with an internal HDD (with FreeMCBoot ofc) and being able to load .iso games from this UI? There's no clear cut tutorial online, everything is scattered across different forums. Anyone here have any idea?
Can someone explain to me what exactly was this supposed to be but did not happend and nowdays people modded it making it working as it should be? Is it something that you can find it today and all that setup requires only a phat model and of course a laptop or PC to do the files ?
@panagiotist47 You can flash an image to any HDD in a phat console using RawHDD copy, that has patched PSBBN Navigator for English and has backups of the old webpages/channels local in the image, you can also store multimedia like music, video, images and even boot games off the HDD (as long as they are master disc patched) I mentioned all this in the video too, so there's your tl;dr.
