"Benoit Wikipedia Hacker" interrogation -- Part 1

- Early on June 25, 2007 -- some 14 hours before the bodies of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their 7-year-old son Daniel were discovered -- a wrestling fan edited Benoit's biography at Wikipedia to assert that he had missed a wrestling show the night before because of "the death of his wife Nancy." This caused a media frenzy. The edit was traced to a 19-year-old wrestling fan who lived in Stamford, Connecticut -- the headquarters city of World Wrestling Entertainment. This is the first of three parts of the interrogation of the fan, Matthew Greenberg, by a Stamford police investigator. Author Irvin Muchnick acquired the video after appealing to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission the refusal of the police to release it. The bit he says "I don't have anything to do with the WWE or anything like that" without bring asking if he did just makes me think he does have something to do with them. Living in Stamford right by the WWE and being a big wrestling fan, surely he'd have at some time or another made aquaintance if not friendship with someone or other who works for WWE. It's too much of a coincidence it's got to have been tipped off by someone.

I highly doubt it. I’ve done my fair share of research on this kid ( now 30+ year old adult) and his parents while wealthy weren’t billionaires by any means. I doubt he rubbed many elbows if any with WWE executives.

He was probably on a few sites those days and if he was the police could follow his tracks to the sites he was on and see what was posted at those times. Wonder if the police bothered to look them up or just go with what the kid said???

According to Irvin Muchnick, they did not search for any sites to find where the rumour started, they just searched specifically for anything connecting him to the murder, which it is pretty much a given that this kid didn't commit any crime.

I think somehow information got out before the murders that Benoit couldn't make it to the PPV because his family was sick due to food poisoning. That's what he told WWE. This guy caught wind of it, got on Wiki, and posted that his wife died because that's what he assumed. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, poor dude.

@@bryantguerrero5914 there is a heck of a lot more than the wikipedia leak. the Benoit's cell phones were never recovered ? why even let the neighbor go straight into a crime scene? how did she know Nancy was duck taped n strangled? all the reports didn't make sense bout Benoit having the brain of a 80 yr old n yet he was out n bout doin shows promos n working out n things of that nature don't make sense. there was also lacerations on Chris' body which tells me there was likely a struggle that took place that evening of the incident.
We could even look at the real murderer
If anyone reads about this aspect of the story in Mushnick's book** and concludes that this was just a coincidence...their credulous simplicity is astounding.
There is no way a guy, in the *same town as the WWE* makes up this story (especially considering that the cops never searched his computer to verify his claim that it came from rumors on other sites).
The much easier explanation is he got tipped off from someone in the WWE who was trying to keep it quiet. This needn't be seen as *that sinister*...it just says the WWE knew something serious was up a lot earlier than they admitted.
**The content of that section of the book has never been disputed by anyone.
There's never such a thing as a true coincidence, but things can correlate.
For example, someone who lives in the same town as WWE is extremely likely to have heard of WWE. By being so immersed in that atmosphere, it's not a huge stretch to imagine a teenager working at Bed Bath and Beyond would become heavily consumed by this culture and immerse themselves in websites and rumour mills for this matter. Therefore, it's not so much of a further stretch that a super fan would take it upon themselves to moderate Wikipedia articles for a number of wrestlers.
I'm not saying this IS just a coincidence, but we should sensibly consider all issues like cultural and environmental influences rather than jumping to conspiracy.

@EducatedRebellion101, Whatever happened, one thing is for sure, Benoit didn't kill his own family and himself no matter how many injuries he took to the skull or how many steriods he took. There was no suicide note, he seemed ok while talking to wwe personnel and his wife, Benoit was having ecw heavy weight title match, and he loved his son and wife.

My main issue is that Benoit was found with several empty beer cans around him yet had no alcohol in his blood system.
People think this is weird but you have to remember 1: Benoit would never miss a PPV unless something was wrong and 2: I bet people think all kind of bad things wrestlers when they unexpectedly miss a show.
