Yes, the point of PPS is it is variable voltage. Any voltage in the range. Obviously power decreases as the voltage decreases. The point of PPS is to offload the charge regulation from the phone to the charger to make the phone get 'less hot'.
Good review! This power adapter charger, ending up testing, far better then some of the other ones! It oddly has a short overload before reset, compared to most other's. And strange it didn't quite get there to DOE SPEC. But, at least in other ways, its a darn good charger, most certainly worth buying from what I can see. I also noticed you were not using your vintage testing gear, only the new ones. HEHE. Good stuff buddy, thanks for doing this!
Yeah, this adapter isn't a bad choice. I hope more adapter manufacturers take note. The older test gear is a bit less video friendly. The Yokogawa power analyzer is old but very stable over time. It actually does a better job seeing peaks and unstable power since it has significantly faster ranging versus the newer equipment. The GW Instek does a hunt and peck type of thing where it never knows what range to be in so it spends most of it's time doing nothing but it has a fancy display and graphs.
Would you do a review on the 200 watt version? Interesting enough its priced at $130 which isn't outrageous, wonder if it performs similar to this one or if it gets dangerously hot when charging 2 100 watt devices.
Thanks for great review! Are the comparison tables you mention in last video minutes also available on the website? Would be fantastic! Also I wonder if you with is maximum voltage deviation on USB output under max load (for example, for 5V could be from 4.98V to 5.01V = 0.03V)?
Yeah, the webpage is limited access and it's still missing a few things, I collect the voltage but it isn't actually listed yet. The tolerance is generally +/-5% of nominal. So, 4.75 - 5.25V, officially. Typically, devices can handle a 10% tolerance. This device stayed within the 5% tolerance in all modes.
Great review, thank you! if you could review the new 240w one from the same company, it will be great :) BTW, is it ok to use it with a MacBook pro ? i know it works, but is it healthy for the laptop?
They keep adding more watts... The laptop decides how much power to draw and in general laptops have larger batteries so even charging at 100W isn't going to cause additional damage to the battery. I say additional because every time you charge and discharge a battery it degrades a little.
@@AllThingsOnePlace First of all Thank you for answering :) I read the PD & PPS wiki and I see your point. the MBP 2019(96w) doesn't always draw enough power from the charger(kovol sprint 120w) or maybe the negotiation doesn't work properly. I guess that it's something related to apple's implementation, maybe they don't follow the protocols and probably have some secret extensions to it. your videos are very informative and useful, thank you!
Wow, that's an expensive charger! Eventually, I will probably take a look at things like that but probably will be several months before I can buy something like that.
Great and interesting channel! I am looking for the best quality power 100+ watt usb c and usb a adapter. Would it be the Razor? Could you review that please?
Did you check if it can charge Samsung devices with Super Fast Charging 2.0 (45W)? I've tried similar 130W charger and after few seconds it drops to Fast Charging. The cable is fine (checked, SFC 2.0 works with other charger).
Hmm. The only thing I can think of is port selection. The first two USB C ports labelled 100W can do 20V-5A in the PPS mode so should be able to sustain the faster charging no problem. The 3rd USB C port is only fast charging.
I have had mine for about a year now no issues until now. I left my brand new samsung book charging when I went to check how much it had charged it didn't. Now the charger won't charge my cellphone I just get a pop-up saying "charging connected USB device" on my phone. I would appreciate if you could help me out
Yeah, it sounds like it thinks the charger is an accessory. Which means it isn't properly negotiating USB power delivery. The obvious things, try different USB ports on the charger and try different cables (a loose wire in a cable could be an issue with data communication for PD to work), worse case the charger has failed. Hopefully, not that. I don't have a lot of time on this Wotobeus 130W but my 200W Wotobeus one has a TON of hours though.
The AVEI 130w is an exact clone of the Wotobeus 130W, along with several other brands on AliExpress. I will look into some of these at some point but not for a while since it is an obvious clone (like minix and invzi and MANY others).
Paid 130$. Went on a few trips where I used it. Probably 20 days. Its a dead brick now with pprts falky and one port completely dead. So 130$/20 days = 6$ a day. Not worth it.
Yeah, that's not good. Hopefully, they can replace it for you. I use the 200W one constantly, it's been good but there are always failures in electronic equipment.
Awesome review, I was looking to bought this one and now I'm convinced.
Glad I could help!
Thanks again man 🙏👍🤞
Thanks for watching! I hope I can find more good adapters.
Nice review, looks like more PF corrected designs for these larger adaptors. Detachable cable is nice too.
Yeah, for a keep at home adapter this isn't a bad option.
A 20 volt PPS will also support 11 volts. In PPS, the outputs can be combined in writing, because it is a range unlike fixed voltages.

Awesome review. You earned a sub👌
Thanks for watching! There’s too many power adapters out there. Slowly making sense of them.
i just found your channel and i'm loving it so far! i would love to see you do a review on the nomad 65w power adaptor!
Thanks for watching. I added that power adapter to the list and there are many more on the way!

Mmmm yeah. That should be a fun one. I have the ugreen 200w brick coming out in June probably.
Thank you for your reviews and tests , will you be doing 240 watt usb c cables and blocks once they become more prevalent ?
Yep! They’re slowly trickling onto the market.

@@AllThingsOnePlace lol saw just now you're posting tomorrow a video about it
Could you try the idmix 100w?
I put it on the list... It is a long list.
would love to see you test the Razer USB-C 130W GaN Charger

dewalt 100w
Oh yeah, that's not a bad idea. Different category of device (more like a power bank) but it does look like they sell a 65W usb charger with it.
