Terry was an incredible athlete coming out of college. He had a wild, loosy goosy devil-may-care attitude and a cannon. He was something of a momma's boy and sometimes he just wanted a hug. He didn't get that in the pros. He improvised on the field using his God given talent because that worked in high school and college. He got to Pittsburgh and coach Noll let him know right away that won't work here. Grabbed him by the face mask, got in his face, and told him exactly how it's got to be. Terry hated him--- at first. A Super Bowl later he started to think maybe the coach knew what he was doing, and the hate turned to love and admiration. Later on, Terry said "Coach Noll made me tough'!

Never could afford NFL tickets, First saw our beloved Steelers at the Kingdome many years later. Did however see Terry live once his rookie season if memory serves. WPIAL HS Football playoff at Three Rivers. Bunch of us kids went down to watch practice or something. Some Steelers were out in uniform working out. We saw our first round pick immediately, no helmet. He was throwing 40 yard passes with barely a flick of the wrist. What an arm!

Ahhh I'm getting choked up reliving these Great things and the Revelations of Greats. Like Lynn Swann who was a nemisis of My First NFL chosen Team.
To recall, I became an NFL Fan in 1976, my Team was the Denver Broncos then, & up until 1995 or there abouts? To now hear Great player's such as Lynn Swann talk about Thier Careers & Game's. IS absolutely just fantastic & ohhh so gratifying too Hear. IN that day n time the NFL was the Utmost Brand of Football 🏈🏈 that was being played & provided at that Time. This is an Opinion and POV that I will basically go too My End, whenever that is fully backing it All the Way. As for the Game of Today? IT is a Shadow of what was? Lynn Swann is definitely a well-deserved Hall of Famer. Art Monk was a stat-padder. Typical Art Monk game: 7 catches for 31 yards. Swann made history-making, game-swinging catches. The '70s Steelers don't win four Super Bowls without Swann. Redskins went on two successful Super Bowl runs ('82 & '87) WITHOUT Monk. Seems to me when your "Hall of Fame" receiver is out for the playoffs your Super Bowl hopes are done. Art Monk: The Keyshawn Johnson (all receptions/no results) of his era.

@@JAWrightonline You don't have to put down Art Monk to prop up Lynn Swann. Both were solid and reliable receivers and are Hall Of Famers.. Art Monk didn't have Terry Bradshaw caliber quarterbacks throwing to him. But he made Theisman look as good.

@@bonanzatime Nope. Art Monk is one of the most undeserved players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Others being Bob Griese, Cris Carter, and I could go on). Lester Hayes owned him. Theismann padded Monk's catch total with all those three-yard passes. I know one thing (in addition to the 'Skins winning their first two Super Bowls while this "Hall of Famer" was on IR as Alvin Garrett and Ricky Sanders did a better job in his stead): When Lawrence Taylor ended Theismann's career and the QB duties went to Jay Schroeder, Doug Williams, and finally Mark Rypien, Monk's salad days and gravy train were over. If Art Monk wanted to catch a pass, he had to run his sorry ass down the field.
Lester Hayes before Super Bowl XVIII: "I don't fear Art Monk...I fear Joe Gibbs. Gibbs can make an All-Pro tight end out of (6-7, 310 lb.) Joe Jacoby. Gibbs has taken two good receivers (Art Monk, Charlie Brown) and made them semi-great ones." With Lester Hayes covering him, Monk played in Super Bowl XVIII and finished with one catch...Hall of Famer my ass!

@@JAWrightonline I don't know what planet you're from, but it ain't from planet earth (maybe it's Philadelphia?.. Asshole Capitol Of The World).. Anyway, Art Monk was The Best high school receiver in the country when he was in high school. Also he held several NFL records, one of which was consecutive games with catches.. My memory is pretty damn good, and remember Art Monk being a receiving force of nature for many many years. And That's A Fact.. his only detriment is being quiet and humble off the field, so bitter beagles fans like you can put him down..

Lynn Swann was a Great Player, but a huge Narcissist.
Just listen to him say, I figured this out by watching film.
None of the Coaches who were some of the Greatest coaches to this day could not figure that out with out Swann bringing it to their attention ???? Wait, what?
Coach Knoll was not as good a coach as Swannie ????
Lynn Swan was as good as Jerry Rice and He could Literally fly up and catch any Ball looking like a Ballerina the whole time, He was that good.
I think he should have left it at that instead of making up stories like this one.
Somebody get Terry’s take on this and post it...
