I had the video in fullscreen mode and exited fullscreen to come and make a comment about that sentence and here was yours at the top of the comments While this is so relatable it also made me kinda sad! It's a lot to ask of poor books, to compete with the tiny shiny dopamine machine.
oh my gosh, seeing As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow in this video was such a lovely surprise! I'm friends with Zoulfa in real life, and she is such an amazing, determined person, and i truly believe she will make great change with the stories she tells. It's been an honour to sit next to her while she wrote parts of this book and to read one of the early versions of it. On behalf of her (because I'm certain she would agree) thank you for reading her book!
I felt so sad throughout you didn’t pick The Night Circus because it is a book that TRANSPORTS you! It’s really one of the most atmospheric books I’ve ever read! Also, I’m in a buddy read book club with my friend and I think we’re going to try this version of a 24-hour readathon - I think it’s genius! 😊
i was a fan of you from FTFK days when I was like 13 and the audible gasp that escaped my mouth when I clicked this recommended video and saw that it was YOU.... i could cry I'm so glad you've come back into my life in this way all these years later!!!!!
I've been disappointed by a TON of popular books because they're mostly lit fit, and since discovering your channel, I've really leaned into books with plots and adventure and friendship and it's been a [redacted] game changer!
i feel like i pick up the worst books in december every year?? at the end of every year i too am wondering "do i even know my own taste? what will make me happy? what is a book?"
I love your interpretation of reading /actual/ 24h and seeing how much that adds up to book-wise. Mindful of your brain and body & challenging at the same time! :)
"I AM IN SPORTS MODE, THIS IS SERIOUS" will definitely be my new mantra for making it through the holidays and tackling the new year 😅😅😅 thank you as always for the vibes of striving, yay for making the most of what we can get out of reading and goals even when the going gets rough. my bloomin readathon video was a similar journey of chaos and disappointment, but the important thing is that we tried i guess yay for trying whoooooot sigh okay ugh we got this i guess heck yeah 🙃
i highly recommend a tale for the time being by ruth ozeki because that book TRANSPORTS you. It is quite sad but it feels extremely real like I looked up several times if the main character was a real person because it felt extremely relatable. It’s also in a multiple pov format so the pacing is a bit faster and there’s also an aspect of the book where the main character learns to appreciate the little aspects of life (which I know you love), also THE WRITING OMG I was completely hooked by the first page and felt that way throughout the rest. I would give ozeki another shot cause I think she’s worth it and I think you would really enjoy it 😊
yaaay thank you for the hype! i’m still going to read this one and weirdly enough “the book of form and emptiness” didn’t falter my excitement. i hear they’re very different experiences! thanks for saying so 🌈
My heart jumped with a wee bit o' joy when you picked up "The Night Circus"!!! I generally read the classics but every now and then try a contemporary read for diversity and to overall shake things up. This time I simply wanted to go some place fun, far and away, and 400+ pages in, I am not disappointed. Note: I'm also not a circus person and this story has more to do with magic and relationships so do not let the circus thing deter you. Though my girlfriend told me that I need to read this and "Water for Elephants" back to back, but I've heard that is a really good story too so, hey, I'm in! 😍
I read Water for Elephants 11? 12? Years ago, but I remember becoming completely engrossed in it. Like you, I don't love the circus feel, I'm on the opposite end, where I'm thinking "I should read The Night Circus. I liked Water for Elephants, so I'll probably like this." 🤣
@@ComeUndun. I just finished "The Night Circus" today and like you, was completely engrossed in it. The ending wasn't a surprise as there are fortune tellers within the story, so you have a feeling where things are going. For me it was the beauty of the story telling and how Erin Morgenstern literally invites the reader into the intricate details and world she's sharing with us. The last chapter is directed to "you" the reader, and for me at least, that was very special and pretty darn cool. Looking forward to Elephants and I appreciate your comments! If you think to do so, if you ever read The Night Circus, please share with me your thoughts. ❤
Don't feel bad about A Book of Form and Emptiness. I had similar feelings. I kept it down at some point and said I'd come back to it and woop, it's been a year and i still haven't 🫣🙈
I recently found your channel and just wanted to say that your videos feel very comforting. Like listening to a friend. And the ACNH music is always so fitting but today there was a Pokemon song? Like what? Iconic!! Love your content✨
The Book of Form and Emptiness is a little rough for new Ozeki readers. I think you would appreciate more A Tale for the Time Being or My Year of Meats if you’re giving her another shot.
I just read The Night Circus and I LOVED it it may be my favorite book I’ve read this year ❤ I would love to see a vlog of you reading it I would be surprised if you didn’t like it
Since I only read six books in November (I normally read a few more), I'm going to continue checking off prompts from the bloomin' bingo board into December!
well done, me too! yay for just extending the bloomin goals into however long we feel like for getting the most out of the experience, i love that the vibe set by the hosts is very "do what you want and have fun with it" 😁
I would 100% recommend She Drives me Crazy if you’re looking for a “forget my phone” read, I finished it last night and three hours went by without my noticing! ❤
Just found your channel and aaaaa this is the perfect vibes! I'm recovering from illness and doing book research at the moment so this is the perfect challenge to try :)))) very excited to watch my way through all of your videos on my breaks from reading and keep my eye out for recommendations :DD

I always look forward to your videos, they're such a cozy way to spend part of my Sunday :) I really think you should try picking up The Night Circus! I feel like it has the cozy vibes you're looking for. If you're hesitant about the circus aspect, the "circus" itself isn't much of a circus, it's more like a bunch of tents with magical art installations? That's the best way I can describe it at least!

My husband and I just found out we are moving to Belgium in March 2023! Im super nervous but also really excited. We will be near Mons/Brussels. Have you read any books set in Belgium that you recommend? Also I loved Legends and Lattes too, sad about Can’t Spell Treason without Tea but I do like action fantasy so I might still pick it up!
i haven’t found any belgium setting books yet but “i who have never known men” was written by a belgian author and is one of my favorites! congrats on the move 💛
i am so glad you agree about the essays at the end of iwtdbiwtet, i got to that point in the book and was wondering why i was still reading it was really jarring
I've been hard pressed to get myself to read anything lately but hopefully I'll be able to pick up some more reading this December once I'm done with my work for the term. I have Early Riser by Jasper Fforde and R.S. Thomas' Collected Poems out from the library that I want to try before I go to my parents' place, and my copy of A Cat's Day by Genie Liang arrived about a month ago after backing it on kickstarter. Do you dabble much in the "literary classics"? My uncle recommended me a whole bunch of them that I'm hesitant to try to read because I know that they're going to be written like they're the age that they are (early 1800s etc) and it's going to take commitment to settle into that writing style.
Is it just me or did anyone hear the animal crossing theme in the starting of the video anyways I loved this video soo much im definitely gonna try this!
Loved this! I wonder if you'd be interested in The 500 Years of Indigenous Resistance Comic Book: (Revised and Expanded) by Gord Hill. It might feel a bit more accessible for some folks.
Hello, concerning your migraines, I wonder if you've heard or thought about an ear piercing? They've popped up a few times on my fyp and many people say that it helps.
i have! apparently it’s like a 50/50 chance of making them worse? plus mine are linked to my immune system and hormones etc but thank you for the recommendation!
@@mikemcdonald7281 Yes I recently read Eleanor Oliphant and wowow it was such a great book!!! Eleanor isn't explicitly labeled as neurodivergent but seemed to be written/coded that way. Definitely some complicated parent relationships and emotional abuse mentions, so take care if those might affect you, but I highly recommend it: I was immediately invested in the characters and the story itself.
@@rachelberan8741 I loved Elinor Oliphant too and The Maid is quite similar, but the mystery element has a larger role in the story (I enjoyed that, but it depends how much you like murder mysteries).
"I want a book that makes me forget about my phone" is gonna be my requirement for all my books now

Have you read any books set in Belgium that you recommend? Also I loved Legends and Lattes too, sad about Can’t Spell Treason without Tea but I do like action fantasy so I might still pick it up!
i haven’t found any belgium setting books yet but “i who have never known men” was written by a belgian author and is one of my favorites!
congrats on the move 💛
omg yes coffee, we love a relevant sponsor!
the sprite and the gardener?! i need this it looks gorgeous
i am so glad you agree about the essays at the end of iwtdbiwtet, i got to that point in the book and was wondering why i was still reading it was really jarring
i love the rainy day cat cuddles 😍
nooooo so disappointing about can't spell treason without tea - hopes and dreams shattered

My uncle recommended me a whole bunch of them that I'm hesitant to try to read because I know that they're going to be written like they're the age that they are (early 1800s etc) and it's going to take commitment to settle into that writing style.
i definitely struggle with classics but i hope you have the best time!
I also suck at 24 hour readathons!
Hi! I'm new to your channel and reading as a hobby! I noticed you read with headphones on, what are you listening to?
instrumental music or brown noise!
i am officially hyper fixated on ur vlogs
I giggle every time you use catbug audio

Loved this! I wonder if you'd be interested in The 500 Years of Indigenous Resistance Comic Book: (Revised and Expanded) by Gord Hill. It might feel a bit more accessible for some folks.
The audiobook saved The Book of Form and Emptiness for me. Still, she was long 😅
Hello, concerning your migraines, I wonder if you've heard or thought about an ear piercing? They've popped up a few times on my fyp and many people say that it helps.
i have! apparently it’s like a 50/50 chance of making them worse? plus mine are linked to my immune system and hormones etc but thank you for the recommendation!
I hope I can get out of my reading funk soon. I bet one of the graphic novels you read would be a great jumpstart (*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡
what are some good books that have neurodivergent characters?
i’m still on the hunt for a satisfying cohesive list! i can tell ya that i loved “convenience store woman” 🥰
@@allisonpaiges i'll check that out, i've read The Maid that was really good. I've also heard Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is good too!
SHOOOGAR PEEEEEAS!!!
DRRRRROP EM!
