Wow! That’s quite an insightful treatise of how close the series hit home with the Establishment. Sure, there have been plenty post apocalyptic series on, Walking Dead, etc. However, none of them ventured into the realities of the aftermath, and how it had such far ranging outcomes. @@turkfiles @zachhoward9099 Its quite a scary show in many respects. Theres a fantasy of societal collapse it gives expression to - zombie apocalypse, fallout, civil war, anything really. We all want shit to hit the fan but its a perverse want in the sense that we cant rationally justify why we want it, and its obviously something that will be bad for us, yet we want it anyway and theres no changing that. Its like crash everything to the ground even if we live in the most barbaric, chaotic warlord era society, something better than this would arise out of the ashes. Theres of course people who dont want it, the beneficiaries of the system with a vested interest. But there are already some people who already live like in some post apocalyptic wasteland, running around scavenging copper, raiding abandoned homes etc. But its the appeal of forging a new community in the midst of apocalypse, like sticking together and having each others backs is what we really want. Its the feeling that the apocalypse would actually allow us to overcome the alienation we have in society. The system we have in place is like this extremely sophisticated contraption, like a medical device stretching our bones and skin apart with this extreme mechanical brutality and destroying it would give us immediate relief and reprieve. The idea it would be less alienating to literally be in a chaotic jungle than the kind of relatively stable veneer today.

It's one of my favorite shows and I just finished watching it again. The way it grabs you from the beginning and seeing how the town reacts. It's amazing how you can like some characters, then dislike them, then like them again. Stan saying goodbye to Bonnie crushes me every time. Anyway, I love this show, all 2 seasons of it, such a shame it didn't go on.
I think everyone in 2024 should watch Jericho season 1, and season 2 most of all. The way the worlds governments are looking today (Especially the US), the way the USA gov is portrayed it doesn't even look like a parody anymore. Hiring mercs and skimming money off the top, restricting what people can sell and trade, downplaying major virus outbreaks and not letting people disrepute vaccines. Sadly what the show doesn't portray is the people who are so mentally warped they think the world is all sunshine and rainbows.
@@NaterTot ive been tempted to continue the story on my own, but it would be far less character orientated (more like just developing the setting) because im not able to write characters that well
I saw Jericho in Latin America at the time, and about 15 years later, I consider it a true hidden gem and a highly respected cult series. A vibrant series that still captivates me to this day.
watched rome a number of times... just saw a review on this show... i think i heard about it years ago but never watched.... looks like some kind of show going on about nuclear weapons.. and the disater they could bring... not sure if would believe this with the current ukraine conflict i guess - there are no nukes being used but the russian military is performing pretty poorly against one small nation (ukraine) - i understand more now on why they got their arse handed to them in Afghanistan.... will probably watch it but to sure i guess.. will try.....
Facts I watched this series in 2010 plus when Ukraine sprang up in 2014 i knew it was a disaster in a stand still trump delayed putin until the the weak Democraps came back
This was such a good show. Might have to check out the comics. It’s a shame that these corporations horde the rights to these shows like Dragons with gold pile. They want to hold onto it because they might do something later with it. The same could be said about Star Gate and Firefly.
I wish they made a third season this is one of the most underrated show ever right next to firefly also I did not know they made a comic can't wait to read it.
Just started re-watching this gem today, am on season 1 at the moment. Absolutely love this show. Would be great to have it rebooted or remade, I think it would do well! Great story and interesting characters too.

I have always felt that maybe Jericho was exposing some things that some didn't want said..... same with Revolution and the rebooted V series (not the alien part but other things).
Loved the show. There were a few bits that didn't work for me but the overwhelming majority was amazing. The show had some real gut punches and surprises.
Yeah, you can tell it was made before society was all messed up. Some of the slow to anger reactions the characters have feel almost fake now. I guess being civil made sense back before the 2008 financial crisis, the trump era, and the jan 6 insurrection.
If the show were to be brought back (in theory), Netflix would probably destroy it. Amazon however... that wouldn't be a bad idea. I bet they could make it work.
For some reason I was thinking of this show today, so I searched on here and found your video! I loved this show and wish it did run longer than it did. I do have the DVD set so luckily I can watch it anytime. It would be awesome if it would come back!
this show was amazing. I loved the entire storyline and wish it was 3x longer. we had to wait so long between seasons and for the longest time didnt even think we would get anything else.
Man I used to be obsessed with this show when I was like 7 when it was still actively airing. I had no idea what was really happening in the series, I just liked it because the main guy looked like my cousin lol. Should probably watch it again now that I’m older.
Just finished the second season and immediately searched for an analysis, unfortunately this is the only video on the show I could find :( great job on this video tho!!!
This is my all time favorite show!! I am re-watching it again right now 😊 Another show that gave me kinda the same feeling is "The Event", wich got cancelled after one season..
Great show , wished it was still being made , just an observation Jennings & rall in modern terms would be blackrock investment firm , Largest GDP in the world in order USA , China and blackrock . Come back jericho
Great video. Thanks for highlighting one of my favorite shows of all-time. Also, another reason why I don't see Jericho being revived; it is much too "political" for the current era. Unfortunately, most of the film industry would not look kindly upon promoting libertarian ideals.
This show easily could have gone on 8 seasons or more. The two seasons were riveting full of mystery and you have the dichotomy between the breakdown of society; how people try to survive. And I’m he factor of what happened who and how! It was definitely character driven, but it would have been awesome to see it expand into the broader picture. Like we start just like the towns inhabitants, completely clueless about what’s happening or why, but so invested in these people making it. Would love to have seen how they could merge the civil war, the fixing of the destruction, and had that theme of perseverance with the ending being basically a somewhat hopeful note. Shame they canceled this with all the asinine stupid quite shite bs cop shows!
I watched this show with my father 2 or 3 years ago, and was really disappointed to see it cancelled, I watched it because I like Fallout, and ended up enjoying the show way more than I thought I would. Would love to see a continuation of the show’s plot at some point in the future wether that be in show or a comic book.
I was just having a conversation with a friend about some of the greatest post apocalyptic shows and I brought this one up but he never saw it. Had to find a video that talked about it so I could remember if it was really that good or not. Seems I was right, might need to go and rewatch since I have paramount subscription.
big issue was that this was the dawn of online viewing and the studios didnt count online viewing. the published ratings were fairly low since they only counted Nielson..
Jericho was a terrific show. Initially I was drawn to the premise of the show, and the setting, I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic stories. But, it was the characters that kept me hooked. The chemistry was fantastic across most of the ensemble cast. I'm not a "shipper" by nature, but even I was won over with the Stanley/Mimi dynamic, they were so great together. I rewatched the show last month, probably the 4th or 5th time I've watched it now, and it still hurts every time I get to the end, it deserved so much more. Similar story to Jeremiah, another post-apocalyptic series that died before its time. If I could bring back any show I wanted, it would be a toss up between Jericho or Jeremiah......or Firefly ;)
Ive bought the series on dvd twice and have the digits on my Afghanistan hard drive. It was part of my rotation when the pandemic kicked off and i was running Wal-Mart out of Cheyenne. I came up with 2 lists on what would change to make the show better.

This along with Stargate Universe for me are perfect examples of shows that were just a bit too early to be on streaming and succeed, haven't rewatched Jericho in a while now but reckon I might just do that now
The show is quite accurate regarding prepping and improvising, they could have tried listening to AM or FM radio in their cars to find out what was going on the hours after the initial attack. AM signals can travel over 500 miles at night due to ionospheric skip depending on terrain and ionosphere conditions, they could have turned in to clear channel stations from Texas, Nebraska and other cities to get more information. Also, after EMP, the show didn't make it clear where people got their water from, how their toilets worked or didn't work and of course what they did without toilet paper. There are many ways to protect electronics from EMP effects. One way to protect spare or replacement electronic devices is to: first, wrap them completely (no gaps) in aluminum foil. second, place them in a plastic bag or cardboard box, or anything that does not conduct electricity, ensure the device is completely covered by the plastic or cardboard box, no gaps. Then place the devices in a metal garbage can with a metal top. Make sure the metal garbage can and metal top has no holes and that the metal top and garbage can makes a good metal to metal seal.

I never new this show existed until a couple yrs ago. But it became one of my favorite shows. Hatted that CBS took it off. They've done to a lot of great TV shows over the yrs. And not just CBS
To date, my favorite show ever. I don't think it's the "best show ever." I think Game of Thrones takes that crown, but the people of Jericho are my family. I would gladly spend any holiday with Stimi, or Jake and Emily, or Dale and Skylar, etc... CBS has forever earned my wrath for not selling the series to Netflix so the fans could enjoy it.
I really did enjoy this show but the one thing that really bugged me was not filming on location. I assume it was filmed in California (hence mountains, big hills, etc) but western Kansas is flat AF. And Denver is far enough away that you wouldn't see the mushroom cloud on the horizon. But those quibbles aside, it was a solid show.
Show will always hold up. It could have been better but not much. The storyline and the main characters were just fantastic. 100% my favorite show of all time. Was sad to see it cancel and was recently sad to see it wasn't on Netflix anymore. I bought it on UA-cam.

Amen!
Even after watching this show 15 years ago, I still think about it often. It's messages are still very relevant today.
It's one of my favorite shows and I just finished watching it again. The way it grabs you from the beginning and seeing how the town reacts. It's amazing how you can like some characters, then dislike them, then like them again. Stan saying goodbye to Bonnie crushes me every time. Anyway, I love this show, all 2 seasons of it, such a shame it didn't go on.
stanley getting his revenge almost gave me a literal orgasm
I think everyone in 2024 should watch Jericho season 1, and season 2 most of all. The way the worlds governments are looking today (Especially the US), the way the USA gov is portrayed it doesn't even look like a parody anymore. Hiring mercs and skimming money off the top, restricting what people can sell and trade, downplaying major virus outbreaks and not letting people disrepute vaccines. Sadly what the show doesn't portray is the people who are so mentally warped they think the world is all sunshine and rainbows.
such an amazing show, and im still mad it was cancelled. i love alternate history shit like this too!
Exactly. This reminded me of some Turtledove stuff!
@@NaterTot ive been tempted to continue the story on my own, but it would be far less character orientated (more like just developing the setting) because im not able to write characters that well
Thank god someone is finally talking about this show!
It’s an amazing show wish it was still on Netflix
Amen!
I saw Jericho in Latin America at the time, and about 15 years later, I consider it a true hidden gem and a highly respected cult series. A vibrant series that still captivates me to this day.
Currently rewatching again.
One of my favourites along with ROME
Never gets old.
watched rome a number of times... just saw a review on this show... i think i heard about it years ago but never watched....
looks like some kind of show going on about nuclear weapons.. and the disater they could bring... not sure if would believe this with the current ukraine conflict i guess - there are no nukes being used but the russian military is performing pretty poorly against one small nation (ukraine) - i understand more now on why they got their arse handed to them in Afghanistan....
will probably watch it but to sure i guess.. will try.....
It was like a throwback to the 1980's. Whole families were getting together to watch it. Not since the 80's has that been seen.
Love this show! it felt somewhat real! And it exposed me to Lennie James for the first time. Absolutely fantastic actor!
Never Forget.....
Mayor Johnston Green, 1944-2007
This was one of my favorite shows of all time. I’m gutted that it ended so quickly
Wow, so much references now a days, year 2022
Too many 🤣
Facts I watched this series in 2010 plus when Ukraine sprang up in 2014 i knew it was a disaster in a stand still trump delayed putin until the the weak Democraps came back
Most underated channel on UA-cam! You really out here remaining me of all these shows I forgot about from my teen years
Thank you so much. It means a lot. 😊
Jericho is my all time fav tv show.
This was a great show with an equally great cast, and had awesome potential. Sadly it didn't have the following to keep it going.
I think it's because most tv viewers are used to spoon-fed, main stream garbage shows and shows like Jericho are thought provoking and well written. 😐
This was such a good show. Might have to check out the comics. It’s a shame that these corporations horde the rights to these shows like Dragons with gold pile. They want to hold onto it because they might do something later with it. The same could be said about Star Gate and Firefly.
It really was and you're right. I think they should bring it ack.
It was on Netflix but it’s gone now
Such a gem me and my wife just watched the whole series this week!
It could be revived Jericho 10 years later, aka Sarah(Hawkins girlfriend) had 6 Nuke`s hidden they go off, Jericho with jMayor`Jake Green Hawkins the sheriff hear of the blasts while on the road and battle to return home finding new friends and enemies along the way,
Home, Dale is now married to his girlfriend and 1 child,
Hawking's daughter is now a town sheriff,
Stanley now married and has 2 kids,
Jericho now has a perimeter wall around it 90% sealed off America 10% trade in-out / people passing though to other areas,
The main engine/heating fuel supply is now alcohol based owned by Dale and his wife they sell/trade on that commodity.
Last year i watch season 1 and 2 of Jericho and man it was great, in concept Jericho is a simple show but man it really deserved more popularity.
Excellent show and can still be watched on Paramount plus. A lot can be learned from this show.
Amen! Such a great show
I like how they show how you can make ice using fertilizer in one episode. A lot of survival tactics were explained in this show

When the dad died I cried my eyes out like a baby
same
I have always felt that maybe Jericho was exposing some things that some didn't want said..... same with Revolution and the rebooted V series (not the alien part but other things).
Loved the show. There were a few bits that didn't work for me but the overwhelming majority was amazing. The show had some real gut punches and surprises.
Yeah, you can tell it was made before society was all messed up. Some of the slow to anger reactions the characters have feel almost fake now. I guess being civil made sense back before the 2008 financial crisis, the trump era, and the jan 6 insurrection.
just rewatched it all for a third time, was free on amazon prime video last time i checked
Awesome! I need to see if it still is
If the show were to be brought back (in theory), Netflix would probably destroy it.
Amazon however... that wouldn't be a bad idea. I bet they could make it work.
Be cool if the fans of this show could petition Netflix or Amazon to pick up a reboot.
I hope so!
They would ruin it with wokeness.
This is one of my favorite shows of all time. Great review!
For some reason I was thinking of this show today, so I searched on here and found your video! I loved this show and wish it did run longer than it did. I do have the DVD set so luckily I can watch it anytime. It would be awesome if it would come back!
This is one show I have and will rewatch hundreds of times
Definitely well worth it
I’ve recently started watching this and now it’s my fav show
this show was amazing. I loved the entire storyline and wish it was 3x longer. we had to wait so long between seasons and for the longest time didnt even think we would get anything else.
#CBS needs to catch a hint and sell the show to Netflix. The fact that people are still talking about it 16 years later says something!
Man I used to be obsessed with this show when I was like 7 when it was still actively airing. I had no idea what was really happening in the series, I just liked it because the main guy looked like my cousin lol. Should probably watch it again now that I’m older.
Rewatching the seasons tonight, it’s an annual must binge for me. I wish it got the attention that lessers shows have received.
*I liked the follow-up comic too.*
So people demand the show to return and literally resurrected it's corpse but then didn't turn up to watch it?
We watched Jericho season 1 in school. It was so good at depicting the aftermath of an apocalyptic event it was allowed to be watched.
Just watched the series. This was made before its time. Loved it, wish there were more episodes.
Jericho was awesome.
Completely agree. One of the most underrated shows of all time.
I watched this show with my father 2 or 3 years ago, and was really disappointed to see it cancelled, I watched it because I like Fallout, and ended up enjoying the show way more than I thought I would. Would love to see a continuation of the show’s plot at some point in the future wether that be in show or a comic book.
Farscape, Jericho, Firefly, The Expanse are shows that are on my top 10 best shows all time.
Nice, Nate's finally doing a video on the first ever undisputed champion Chris Jericho. BREAK THE WALL DOOWWWNNNN
Should have thrown a joke in about that. Damnit!
It was great, so glad I got to see both seasons. It deserved more, but most shows that make you think outside the box get canned fast.
Ive bought the series on dvd twice and have the digits on my Afghanistan hard drive. It was part of my rotation when the pandemic kicked off and i was running Wal-Mart out of Cheyenne. I came up with 2 lists on what would change to make the show better.
Was a great show, have on disc to rewatch
In a time where the women were actually hot
A NETFLIX show would have been awesome
I still have hopes it can return!

One way to protect spare or replacement electronic devices is to:
first, wrap them completely (no gaps) in aluminum foil.
second, place them in a plastic bag or cardboard box, or anything that does not conduct electricity, ensure the device is completely covered by the plastic or cardboard box, no gaps.

I love this show. Nice video.
Loved this show, I really wanted a few more seasons to finish the story properly
I didn't watch TV at the time that this show aired. Watched it later on Netflix and I loved it. Was sad when it I hit the final episode.
"Nuts"
I remember my first time watching not knowing of the sudden cancellation and having the biggest blue balls.
Ugh. Fantastic show, top-notch acting and a great plot. Lennie James and Skeet were superb.
Absolutely loved this show
It was a really good show, too bad the American public didn't appreciate it.
Show will always hold up. It could have been better but not much. The storyline and the main characters were just fantastic.
100% my favorite show of all time. Was sad to see it cancel and was recently sad to see it wasn't on Netflix anymore. I bought it on UA-cam.
I absolutely agree. Glad you're still supporting it too!
6:18 Jake should have said DEEZ NUTS
We actually named our son Johnston as Johnston Greene is one of the greatest characters to hit tv. My favorite show of all time
What an amazing story. Thank you for sharing. That's an amazing name
Best show I've seen to date
This was such an underrated show.
Just lost Kenneth Mitchell(Eric Green). RIP sir.
Loved Jericho while it lasted. So sad it wasn't picked up.
Jericho was a great series. The BBC Jericho was also quite good.
Tonight’s the western stars are falling bright again.- Bruce Springsteen forever ❤️
I watch it every couple years. I also have the graphic novels on my kindle
One of the best shows I have ever seen… Ever…. Lennie crushed it. Mcraney crushed it. They all crushed it.
Probably my favorite show of all time. Of course fox abandoned it, but it was so great. I wish I reboot would come with skeet Ulrich as an older man now
I have season 1 & 2 dvds and the season 3 and 4 comics.
