Excellent info for the new starters Like you say it’s all about handling the baby’s and keep them well fed, I’ve kept ferrets for over 40 yrs and still have them. Good working ferrets they are.
Thank you for sharing this amazing breeding video! Ferrets are illegal in California where I live so the ones that I have owned I have had to smuggle in from Arizona or Nevada. I have bred one of my Jill's once and out of the four or five kits only one survived, the Jill actually ate several. Your ferrets are and amazing and beautiful looking creatures and I have watched a few videos of the ferreting process, which I've never personally witnessed live but it's cool to watch the videos. A lot of work goes into to it.
Hi curt I was wondering if you currently breed still or have any possibly I could adopt in Southern California I personally cannot find another way like you mentioned and really didn’t wanna go that route any help or contact info?
@@deputygurb8874 I recently moved to NorCal and could not keep my ferrets in the current living situation. I gave my ferrets to a good home. Good luck in your search, I absolutely loved my pet ferrets!
For others, please only breed if you know the bloodlines, and they are solid. Also, you can now use a deslorelin implant to bring jills out of season rather than either a vassy hob or an intact one.

I know this is an old video but have you ever exported ferrets to other countries? I know people who have done it with their horses and am now wondering if it’s the same with smaller animals as well.
Hi, I'm not sure how you go about shipping ferrets off but I think it would be possible. I've got a litter due in two weeks and it's the silver Jill from the video.

@@EastMidFieldsports im unsure about the hob but if he wasn't fertile would the jill come back into season also what should i do try another hob or will it be bad for the jill

When you introduce food, can you do bone yet? They need that and organs for a complete diet but I’m wondering if they can chew it? I’m beginning to research breeding and the feeding/weaning process of the babies still confuses me a bit at times.
May I ask. Why did you separate the mum from them at 6-weeks old is there a particular reason they would be separated so young? All three of my jills have been mated yet the vulva does not seem to be getting any smaller.
They are removed at 6 weeks to give the Jill a rest, by then the kits can eat & drink independently. Once mated it can take a week or two for the vulva to go down but in some cases it may not.

Hi,when they first have raw they more suck it but once they have teeth then they can get through the bone.
how long does the mother stay with the kits?

How do you clean out the hutch when there a couple weeks old
I clean out the toilet area and remove any meat from the bedding area, I don't touch the nest until the kits are 5 weeks old
How much money are 10 kits?
Kits normally go for £5 - £10
