- Join Paul and Suzanne as they visit Oakham in Rutland. Lots to see and eat, plus a very special Signal Box and lots more.
We visit the Castle with its room full of horse shoes, Why? Peers of the realm who pass through Oakham for the first time must give a horseshoe to the Lord of the Manor. This unique custom started over 500 years ago and still continues today. Over 200 horseshoes are displayed in Oakham Castle (which is actually a Great Hall).
We eat in the Castle Cottage Café
Oakham is a market town and civil parish in Rutland in the East Midlands of England of which it is the county town. The town is located 25 miles east of Leicester, 28 miles south-east of Nottingham and 23 miles north west of Peterborough.

I would love to go visit the Great Hall. Last time I was there was before the renovations that have been carried out. LOL I have a tale of a Ploughman's lunch from before Lindsay and I were married. I would have had a pint of County LOL lovely video. Not been there since I topped fishing in the RAF Championships.
