    Your ability to connect with people is a truly beautiful skill! And this series is a great reminder that once we can safely be around each other again, we’re going to bring back all the things that have been canceled for a year, because the experiences we have in person with other human beings are super meaningful!

      Definitely very meaningful and extremely important I feel so bad for some folks especially where I live in Taos NewMexico who are now literally afraid of people :(

    A saw! A saw! My kingdom for a 10 in or bigger saw. But alas my kingdom is small and rock too big for my saw. So for now I will have saw envy even for a broken down 12 in saw for lack of freight.

    Hiya my friend, once again....awesome video dude! I watched it and watched it again. Beautiful opals, hey I think I had told you about the dinno bone I found, I still haven't been able to cut it. Lol
    I look at it every once in awhile, but I just can't do it. I have been thinking about cutting the meteorite, I'm gunna get brave enough one day and just do it. Lol
    I hope you have a awesome blessed day.
    Cya!

      Thanks so much for watching my friend:) your be best
      If you cut the meteorite make sure to do a bit of research on which blade to use I believe Maybe use a blade for native coppers and meteorites are called CBN or CNB either way make sure to look it up because there’s a special blade that is intended for cutting those materials because a regular diamond blade supposedly is not to talk to use

      @@lapidarydave thanks for the information, I'm glad I didn't try it yet, because I really was thinking about cutting it.
      I didn't know it takes a certain type of blade. You see that's all kinds of Knowledge I learned from you. Thanks for all the things you do.

    Cliff hanger.
    What kind of opal did you get?
    I love all but have a special place for mintabie.
    Not much coming out of the ground after they kicked everyone out.
    There's still current mining leases but who knows for how long they will be renewed. And it's like 300km to the nearest town or gas station so it even more expensive to mine there now.
    There is also a hydrophane deposit that doesn't get mined much anymore called tintenbar.
    Last I heard most of the deposit is covered by a new road.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 роки тому +1

      Holy hot dogs are some great information and what a shame that they covered it up with the road truth be told my friend I didn’t buy any opal
      I am so super poor LOL I bought a couple display cases and the gentleman but no opal

    Thanks for the peak into Quartzite (for those of us who have never been there!). I have some dino bone slabs but I've been afraid to cab them until my skills improve a bit!
    Do you think it will be worth it to travel from Detroit to Tucson in April? With such a parred down show I'm not sure it's worth the drive.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 роки тому +1

      So this year’s Tucson is going to be a lot smaller than it usually is my particular venue is only going to have 50 vendors however it’s the 50 of the largest wholesale vendors in our venue that alone is worth traveling to Tucson from Detroit but the largest venues in Tucson are planning on having sadly smaller shows but just like you know my venue they plan on having their largest biggest and best vendors so long story short yes I do believe it will be worth it my friend it’s going to be a month-long so if you’d like you can wait a few days after the show starts and I will post videos from the first day it happened so folks can see if it’s worth going to :) don’t be afraid to cut your Dino burn unless it’s a particularly precious piece
      Dinosaur bone is one of those materials that are not particularly rare but there are some pieces that are worth a lot of money and are sold by the carrot

    Dave- why is the opal in Warter?

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 роки тому +5

      So this particular opal is in water to show off the color that might not be able to be seen with the naked eye when it is dry the gentleman in this video is selling very high-quality Opal and most people will not be able to see the color if they are not used to this quality of Opal And a lot of people do not carry spray bottles it also helps to protect the opal inside of the jar
      Sometimes people keep lower quality opals inside of water to hide the cracks inside of Opal they call this “crazing” However this gentleman is not using the water in this way it is only to show the color to people who do not carry their own water bottles which is most people

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 роки тому +1

      That’s a decent request my friend every single cutter I know who is a professional cuts American material if you mean
      If you mean cutters that sell American material and only American material they are very few that right now
      If you mean people that facet American gemstones and only American I don’t know any because every cut right now cut American and foreign material so you have to let me know my friend are you looking for cabochons or facets and also what type of American material are you looking for

    • @jogalbreath5216
      @jogalbreath5216 3 роки тому

      @@lapidarydave I'm looking for someone to cut material I buy. Thanks for responding Dave! I Was in jewelry design years ago. Now I'd like to buy BC Picture stone - from Dan Hurd - for example and get cabs and or drops made to go with the Herkimer diamonds I've been able to buy. Most of my new designs use gemstones and small crystals. I don't wrap them. I can make decent settings for them. I used to subscribe to lapidary journal. People used to advertise there. Not sure where to find cutters now.

    • @lapidarydave
      @lapidarydave  3 роки тому +1

      @@jogalbreath5216 You know it’s getting harder and harder to find cutters to commission in America at least that are reasonably affordable everybody I know cost about $35 an hour more here in America to cut material you might have a better time overseas that comes with a lot of political problems I’m sure for a lot of people but unless you’re willing to pay a good price it will be very hard to find somebody here in America to cut
