03. 시나위
시나위는 남도 무악(巫樂)에서 출발한 기악합주 양식이라고 정의된다. 전통적으로 호남지역뿐만 아니라 충남과 경기남부(남한강 이남) 및 경상남도 남해안까지도 모두 남도 무악의 영향권에 속한다.
이 지역은 남도 음악 선율에 의한 시나위가 연주되는 곳이라 하여 흔히 ‘시나위권’이라 부른다.
과거에는 이들 각 지역에 따라 전승된 시나위 가락이 차이가 있었고, 다양한 스타일의 시나위 가락이 전승되었으나 이즈음은 굿 현장보다는 무대예술 양식으로 다듬어진다. 주어진 장단 틀 안에서 자유로운 선율연주로 즉흥성을 유발한다.

Sinawi is a form of instrumental ensemble music derived from southern shamanic music. Southern shamanic music covers a large sphere ranging from the Honam area, South Chungcheong Province, the southern part of Gyeonggi Province to the coastal area of South Gyeongsang Province; this large sphere is also called “the sphere of Sinawi.”
There used to be regional differences in Sinawi, but it is now performed more on the stage rather than at shamanic rituals. Musicians improvise within given rhythmic frameworks, and the instrumentation may vary according to the circumstance, as may rhythmic patterns, which usually follow the order of gutgeori - jajinmori - dongsalpuri.
