The better version of this is getting the peeled zests and leaving them in sugar. The essential oils get extracted and the resulting syrup gives an even richer citrus flavor.

For a more interesting taste, Slice up the lemons and limes (skins on, unlike the Americans), put them in a small pan (Around the size you'd use to make chai), Add 5 slices of Lemon, 2 of Lime, let it boil for 10 mins, add a lot of sugar to let the bitterness go away, you'll have a much better Sprite Competitor 😎

I think the reduced fizziness is just cos the soda water was diluted with like 30% non-fizzy ingredients. Could maybe mix it all up with non-soda water and then use a sodastream type product to fizz it all up

you can make this and freeze it into ice cubes
I store lemon ice cubes to make juice almost without any effort
it tastes good and isn't as harmful as other sodas might be

Baking soda is the secret to sprite. The citrus of the lemon reacts with the baking soda making it so much more fizzy in comparison to other soft drinks.

I have a sodastream at home. If you have that, you can make the water much more carbonated, which I suggest as an improvement. But also it's expensive so I get it if you don't want to do that

Lemon juice + lime juice does not taste like sprite. Sprite is flavored by the essential oils from the citrus, not the juice which is almost entirely just water and citric acid very little flavor, create an oleo saccharum to draw out the oils/flavor compounds from the peel
