I’m so glad you enjoyed it! “An artist must have his measuring tools not in the hand, but in the eye.”- Michelangelo It’s so true and it applies to making junk journals, too. Without the creative spark, the vision and the will to create no amount of fancy tools will make us artists.
Thank you a million times for acknowledging that many of us craft on a very, VERY small budget. I live on SS alone and give away all the journals I make (Little Free Libraries and the local Senior Center, mostly), so I am always on the lookout for ways to get supplies that are free or low-cost. This idea is so magnificent for exactly that reason! Again, TFS!
You’re so welcome! Your comment made me very happy. I’m glad that the information was useful. As Bob Ross said: “All you need to paint is a few tools, a little instruction, and a vision in your mind.” I think the same applies to creating junk journals. Thank you so much for watching ❤️😊
You were born to be a teacher! How nice you explain … thank you very much for sharing! I was always fond of stamps and these are so simple to make! Thanks! 😘😘😘
These are beautiful, thanks for sharing them! I have made a few of these fun foam stamps, but I glue them to clear plastic packaging with Aleene’s Tacky Glue. I plan to try a hint I read on Yva Lovee Arts: to use Alene’s Tack it Over and Over glue around the center & edges of the design on the back side of the plastic. This takes up less room than cardboard/handles and will allow me to use my acrylic stamping block for more even pressure. If you have a single design, you could probably omit the plastic layer, but for a group (of circles, for instance), the plastic keeps them together in a set arrangement. Some of my favorite background stamps are just the leftover pieces cut in random shapes and glued to the plastic…really fun on the gelli plate too! Store them on plastic dividers in a binder. You can buy precut shapes of foam too, that you can add detail to with a pen. I hope to do some with my dies as well…so many ideas, too little time!
Thank you so much for watching and for all the useful tips you shared with me. I haven’t tried with the glue you suggested, can’t find it here in the shops but sounds like an awesome idea. I have been creating these with dies in the past and gluing them onto styrofoam with double sided tape. Used those on gelli and loved it. I think possibilities here are endless. 😊❤️
Thanks for your wonderful frugal ideas. These are so beautiful and just more opportunities for creativity. God bless you! You make the world more beautiful.
Incredible, I didn’t think they would come out so lovely!😮😊 So glad you used them to make those wonderful papers so we could really see how well they worked!!❤ Totally impressed! 😊
I'm glad to see someone else doing this, too! I've got a whole box of homemade stamps. I love drawing, so it was just an easy leap to start creating my own.
I often save quite a few leaves & I have preserved them, by adding watered down white glue or Mod Podge onto the back & then the front of each leaf & lay them out to dry.
I love these! I love your use of natural leaves, so pretty. I have a few handmade stamps of my own, but I want to make more, now😂. I found that, surprisingly, white glue holds pretty well. I prefer the Elmer’s Glue-All, Aileen’s Tacky Glue, or the Elmer’s Craft Bond-I haven’t tried the school glues. I have some I use for acrylic paints, including some from Styrofoam (I use everything I can, lol). The trick with paint is using a surface or palette to make a thin layer of paint, otherwise it will pool in the lines you made and you lose the image unless you clean it out with a stylus or pen or something. I don’t clean them, I just stamp them off onto another paper. Fun video, thanks for sharing; take care! ❤❤❤
I make my stamps with 2 sheets of fun foam glued together. You can glue them with silicone glue and them glue it on card with white glue. Them are very good. Yours are beautiful. Thanks for share the idea ❤
You always amaze me when you see something your mind goes to work and u r amazing. Thank u so much I’ll try it. I’ve been sick these 3days and watching u made me smile.😅
Thank you so much for sharing Dragana ❤Love these stamps and how they came out on the different backgrounds. A fun activity aswell as the only limit is fantasy.
This is so incredibly clever! I'm so impressed with the final results and how well the stamps hold up. I have some foam sheets with adhesive on the backside and I have no clue how I got those or what to do with them. Until today! :)
I’m so glad you liked the video. Self adhesive foam is even better for this purpose! I hope you have lots of fun creating. Thank you very much for watching 😊❤️
These are soo beautiful! I love that because you make them yourself, they’re unique; they turned out awesome impressions! Pls let us know about how long they last, I think that would be interesting to know? tfs!😊
Beautiful, I'm inspired. It's kind of you to teach everyone what you know and it doesn't cost a lot, I love the recycling aspect. Thank you. Question. I know you said using water to clean would ruin the cardboard backing on the stamp, however do you ever clean them with a clean er, wipe over, and how long do they last?
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching. I usually clean them by stamping off on scrap paper. Sometimes I would stamp on a wet wipe first and then on paper. It works for me. I have some that I’ve done 2-3 years ago and they still work, but I didn’t use them very often.
Thank you for sharing this affordable very crafty idea, I plan on trying to make these very soon, I have collected some stamps over the years, but it would be fun to make my own. I was thinking that eventually all of your hard work on those stamps, may start to weaken a good bit, being pressed onto those smaller ink pads, are there larger ones available for that?
I also have a question about the ink you are using here: 34:45 . How permanent is that? It will smear if touched with a moist hand? How about on textile? is there any permanent ink pad that works well on textiles and is resistant to water? Thank you very much again.
The ink I used for that segment is permanent ink, Ranger Archival Ink. It won’t smear when touched with moist hands. I don’t show it in the video, but I added coffee to it later on and the stamped images stayed the same. I use this ink on fabrics, too. After drying I usually heat-set it with hot iron. This video is another absolute treasure. These stamps are fun! 35:35 These prints are just stunning. I want to stamp on white napkins and decoupage wooden blocks my husband made for my grandkids. I like to keep my tools in organizers that I create myself. I am afraid after this video I will have to make much larger storage box then the one I currently have for diy stamps. Because I want to make many more now. Yes, craft foam can be purchased at dollars stores in the USA and Canada, in big bundles and assortment of colors. When I made my own stamps a while ago I did not use double-sided tape to glue the foam to the cardboard, I used Aleene's tacky glue and it worked very well. That glue is the only one I trust to be reasonably priced (here in Canada at least) and yet very reliable. That glue is good for foam-on-foam application as well. I produced stamps with two layers of thin strips of the foam. I banded and curved the strips to outline the shapes. My strips are wonky which I like because that makes unique fun stamps and later prints. But I never tried to make stamps with indentations like you showed. That is my next stop.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for all the useful tips, about the glue and using two layers of foam. I love how organic and wonky these stamps look. So authentic compared to the generic store bought ones. I store my mine in a clear plastic container so that I can see them. I’ve been stamping on those napkin papers and I loved the look. Starched napkin paper has rough texture and when stamped with these, looks like it’s been painted on, rather than stamped. Love the effect. 😊❤️
I love your take on this fun, enjoyable and oh so useful stamps alternative. Originally inspired by a Video from Noit Art about 5 years ago: ua-cam.com/video/Eg6HGkduewI/v-deo.html I have been making and using these types of stamps for years. Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching. Thank you for the link, too. I like Noit Art channel but I must have missed that video so I am going to check it out. 😊❤️
