    I've painted for 26 years. Painted a deep brown a customer provided the Scuffx. I could not believe how smooth to the touch it was. I kept swiping my hand on the wall and just yelling"WOW"! IT'S WEIRDLY smooth. Mind blowing product.

      Sorry, but Aura is much more resistant to the deep damage using sharp tools. Scuff-x is a failure in this. A little preasure is leaving marks. I did the same test with Aura and Scuff-x.

    Scuff X is great stuff use it daily, when you roll with it an the orange peel look that you get when it's wet actually blends in to where you don't get the orange peel look it's really good stuff 👌

    I had a customer allow us to test scuff x in one of their rooms on a remodel. I was there a year after install to apply a venetian plaster. I immediately went to check on the scuff-x. Not only did it hold up extremely well, it looked like it was just painted. it has a beautiful glow and it's tough as nails. BenMoore hit a home run with this product.

    I painted my entire condo with scuff x. Satin on doors and trim , matte on the walls and I am happy with the results.He is right about the sheen-the matte is like a low luster eggshell.the eggshell is almost like a satin.The satin is heading towards an semi gloss.

      I gave the Fall River public school department two gallons of Scuff-X eggshell as a demo. They used it in the HS for the wall on the top part of the bleachers where the students sit against. It has held up very well, requiring less service.

    Thanks for your insights. In all fairness though, if you're comparing two lines of paint for durability, they really should be tinted the exact same color. The fact that the darker Scuff-X still outperformed the lighter Aura is a testament to the durability and toughness of Scuff-X though.

    Also, it seems the author is using a different preasure to leave marks on the left and right boards using more power for the left board (Aura). Not objective review.

    I use to think sherwin William's Duration matte was the best. Until I tried Scuff X. Wow Sherwin William's cant touch Benjamin Moore.

    • @stevenhozjan7719
      @stevenhozjan7719 2 роки тому +3

      Sherwin Williams Duration is garbage. As a commercial contractor who uses premium paint on all our builds like Tim Hortons and other various restaurants. Duration is one of the worst paints. Opulence is what we recommend if using Sherwin Williams. Specs call for Sherwin Williams and Opulence is our top choice if we have to use SW. As far as Aura goes, it’s hands down one of the best paints out there for coverage. Yes it’s more, however you get the results you want. Our discounts at Benjamin Moore are decent and we pay $53 per gallon for Aura, yet Sherwin Williams we pay $21. Yes $21. We buy bulk. And always two coats for true colour. Scuff X is ok. Just not what the hype claims it up to be. We aren’t brand bias at all. We use what works. If your budget doesn’t allow Aura, use Opulence then Scuff X. Just not Duration. Save your money. It holds its Duration on the shelf, where it belongs.

    Mate white is a problem to roll nice... too many stripes and see brushed and rolled areas...(on grey loos better) . Eggshell works well, Satin for trim is the best .

    FYI: Scuff-X matte is NOT matte. I learned the hard way. It's more like an eggshell! For those looking for a matte, they lied and this will be a disappointing discovery after you did the work. I am so incredibly mad! It potential ruined a design project I specifically needed a matte for. I purchased cheaper Behr Marquee in matte for a different project a few months ago and at least it was matte as it said and a fraction of the price Scuff-X was. So MAD I spent so much money on this non-matte paint!!! Maybe they should relabel their Scuff-X and remove the word 'matte'!

    Scuff-x is a complete failure for me. Aura is much better for me. Scuff-x completely fails the nail test, a little preasure leaves marks while Aura resists the nail preasure very easy.

    The carpenter suggested scuff x. I wasn't familiar with it so I checked UA-cam. I had found my perfect color in aged white by Sherwin Williams.
    Hopefully Benjamin Moore can match it in this formula.

      here in southwestern PA we have hardware stores called Ace Hardware. most Ace stores carry BM paint.
      if you don't have Ace stores where you live, then go to BM's website, scroll down to their map and type in your location (city, state and/or zip) and it will bring up the closest BM retailers in your area. hope that helps.

    • @chasemartin6097
      @chasemartin6097 4 роки тому

      Most Ben Moore products are usually very good with blending, as far as touch ups go. Now, anything with a sheen is going to show up at least a little bit, depending on the lighting in the room, but the Matte finish should be just fine for whatever you need to do in a rental.

    • @lesleewatson4266
      @lesleewatson4266 3 роки тому

      Not really, in that you will get flashing. The matte has quite a sheen to it. I consider Scuffix matte to be more of an eggshell. Scuffix overall profile has more stipple.

      B Welkinator Lol. Yea, most products will peel on concrete. Was wondering on scuff x capability on flooring, which it’s not made for but it seems strong enough.
      I’ve heard exterior concrete should only use acid stain or a solvent like I believe acetone, which won’t leave a film.
      I don’t think any paint would survive long outdoors on concrete. Maybe Alflor from Fixall. Seems like one of the better porch n floor paints.
