Great video. I need some advice bad. I changed my motor and the wipers park in the upright position. I've removed the linkage and adjusted the motor shaft and tried other common tips from the internet. I've also replaced the motor again thinking that I purchased a faulty motor.
@@PistonShack yeah. I tried everything. Couldn't get it set right. So I pounded the tab on to the motor in the correct position. There's a grove that's a square on one side and rounded on the other. I beat it on lol workng great.
@@adamwarner888 Morning Adam! Defective, faulty aftermarket new parts didn't surprise me specially electrical components. So far you can call it fixed, for now. If this one will fail I just go to scrapyard and pull one for 10$.

on my vehicle, the windshield wipers would not work. i replacded the multifucntion switch on the steering column, replaced the wiper motor and all supporting fuses and relays. after all, the issue was with the 30 amp fuse under the steering wheel. the fuse was not making good connection. upon playing with the fuse pushing it in and out side to side... the wipers miraculously turned on. hope this helps

So I have an 08 f250 SD. First my wipers would come on without switch on ,them ac blower stopped working. Checked fuse 45 and it was blown, replaced with new fuse so now if I switch either to on and the fuse blows. Think this could be my issue?

Seems like you have short power to the ground, power to power or defective shorted one of the wiper motor circuit components as switch, electric motor, relay etc. First would check for any contact points where wires can rub against metal parts, swap rely, replace shorted wiper motor. Hi Cody, Sorry I missed your comment. Did you get your problem solved? Sound like you have a good wiper motor and control switch. I will check wiring (power and ground) down to the motor from the switch control side. It could be just open or shorted circuit.

Close to a foot of snow fell from the roof of my 2003 F-350 onto the operating wipers - they stopped. Now there's a clicking noise, but no wiping. Sounds like one of the mechanical arms broke, but on your video they look rather solid. Any suggestions?
I would check for any ice and snow accumulation down at the wipers arms and motor first. Then check if wiper arm shaft turns at the wiper arm connection.
Thank you very much! I rigged up a cord to each wiper blade, with one going to the driver, the other to the passenger. With this we are able to operate the wipers by taking turns pulling the wipers towards us, one at a time. Once I get the truck out of the ditch and back home, I expect to find the trapezoidal wiper arm assembly broken somewhere. Your videos are excellent and appreciated.
Truck is at home, wiper assembly is out. The bar of the assembly that comes off of the motor post popped its ball from the socket on the opposite end from where it connects to the motor. I bent the arm back to something like the original position and am able to pop the ball back into its socket. Before I do that I'll spend a few moments looking for a new arm. The assembly itself is over $500 at a big chain parts store. A junkyard would be ideal if the truck wasn't essential here in winter, (my snowplow), and junkyards are far from home. Thanks for the video - it made my 1st attempt easy knowing what I'd find.

You might be able to fix broken part temporary (nothing more permanent than temporary)) then get replacement part to win some time. Hey Marco. I would swap wipers relay with known good one first. Then check if control side of the relay has power (or ground) when switch is off (on). Disconnect wipers multi-switch to see if wipers will stop, if does most likely switch is your problem.
I know this is a old video but hopefully you will still check it I have a problem with my wipers it's blowing fuese when under load like pushing snow and it also having problems with it stalling on anything but high or low the pulse dose not work i have changed the motor and the switch still not help were do I go from there please help

@PistonShack 1999 F250 Super Duty, wipers will stop mid way when in the interim settings. Wipers work fine when in high/low settings. Any advice where to start diagnostics?
Hi brotha, Most likely your GEM module is going bad (located under the steering column behind the fuse box) or it could be the multi-control switch itself.
My wipers quit working completely after working without problems, they quit after I plugged in an OBDLink scanner, could this have caused failure, also how do you test the system before taking out wiper motor assembly?
@@PistonShack or could it be that the old one was faster because it was failing or that’s what lead to it failing? My new one isn’t OEM, it’s from NAPA, was $80 ish.
I've replaced the motor turns out it was the wiper linkage one end was frozen. I freed it up re installed I had it working then popped the fuse (30) amp. Replaced the switch same results blown fuse. No visible breaks in wires any advice. 2010 f250 super duty gas
Hey Shelby. I would disconnect that previously seized up wiper linkage to check if 30A will pop with out it. It's common to blow the fuse when motor cannot turn freely. Let me know if it make difference.

I have an URGENT Question: This makes no sense. I installed the Wiper Motor pretty much like you explained it. I tested it before putting the shroud and wiper arms back on. The new motor worked perfectly! But then., I had this genius idea that I needed to check and make sure the Arm that connects to the motor was properly tightened. So - I tried fighting it and the motor and arm shifted positions. I couldn't get it to reverse itself to the right position - so I started my truck hoping it would right itself - I heard the motor turn - then my F250 died! It will turn over and over and over., but would not start. What could I have possibly done to cause this? I mean - you can only plug the power into the motor one way - very much foolproof. I would think that the motor fuse itself would blow. This happened this afternoon - I'll check my fuses in the morning - but Wow! I was hoping you'd have an idea of what went wrong. Thank you in advance for your time, consideration, and any suggestions you can give me.
Hey Dave. I would check main Ignition fuse which powers wiper fuse and relay. Most likely that one is blown. Probably when motor tried to turn the arm current spiked and burned the main fuse. Unfortunetelly, I don't have wiring diagram right now. I would remove the wiper motor, set it to the right position, replace fuses as necessary then try to start the truck. Btw, do you have CHECK ENGINE when key turned ON? If not could be ECU fuse blown.
@@PistonShack Well sir - I followed your directions (which is sound and logical). None of the fuses were blown. I just went for broke. Instead of pulling the bracket - I pulled the arm lose from the motor where it sat and adjusted the position - slapped the arm back on, and held the arm in place with a screwdriver while I tightened it back down - as not to have a repeat performance of what got me to this place. I stuck in the key, didn't expect much, but she roared to life! This makes no sense to me how a wiper motor could possibly in any way shape or form, keep the truck from starting up and running. I'm not complaining mind you - only crazy people do that - LoL. I'm just confoozed on how that works. Anyways - I deeply appreciate your advice and I learned a thing or three in the process. 👍👍
Just fyi. Theres a special pronged or forked end. Body anchor removal tool. That'll easily remove 1 & 2pc anchors. Without breaking them. Available at any body supply, or Harbor Freight.

Hi Gacho! Ok, here's wiring colours to the wiper motor. WHT/YL- run position power LT BLU - wipers back to park position power WHT - low speed DK BLU/ORG - high speed BLK - groung
Hi Kyle, I will bridge pins 30 and 87 wipers should turn on. Pin 86 (85) is ground. When you turn wipers on you should have voltage at pin 85. 87 or 30 should have constant 12v. That's basic four pin relay schematic. To bridge relay I always use incandescent test light.
@@peterhughes4806 Hi Peter. It means circuit is closed all the time. Two easy things you can try. 1. Replace wiper relay, it could be bridged. 2. Control Switch stuck On (Unplug multi-switch to isolate the issue) it should turn off. Let me know how it worked out.
I started with replacing the turn signal switch lever that controls the wipers thinking the switch for the wipers went bad, not change there. Then I tried replacing the circuit control module, it was a pain to get to. That was indeed where the problem was. Thanks for the great vid.

I have a 1999 f550 test pins on plug ,have three hot pins when ignition is turned on wipers do not work, no intermittent power when switch is on delay. Just power on.Using voltage reader. Does that point towards switch problem?

What fuse do you have for the wiper? Seems like you have issues with GEM module.

I don't think so, OBD will cause that. I would check power, ground and control to the wiper motor starting with fuses and relay.

What do I do if I didn’t mark the position of the arm/motor before I took it apart?

Normally, any relay between pins 30 and 87 should be open (0L.)

Good video with good info, but you could have put out the same info in half of the time. I came to learn how to change the wiper motor, not how to clean out the debris from the cowl. No hate, just some constructive criticism. Thanks for the video!

Wipers and squirts wont turn off. Replaced switch and relay . The problem is still there
If it will only work on high in your intermediate and all that does not work is it for sure your motor

@PistonShack ' I did the thest you did in the beginning of your video after i already changed the motor assembly 3 times lol but I only have power if I set the switch in hi position and the power won't go back out until I turn the key off . It help me determine the motor wasn't the problem and I also tried a different switch and relays. do you have any idea what is going on ? Any help would be appreciated
I have a 1999 f550 test pins on plug ,have three hot pins when ignition is turned on wipers do not work, no intermittent power when switch is on delay. Just power on.Using voltage reader. Does that point towards switch problem?
Seems like you have issue with GEM module. They known to cause problem s with wipers operation.Check UA-cam for GEM Module.
