MK8 should have had more returning vehicles. It was neat to see a few from DS and Double Dash returning in 7 but MK8 has, like, the Pipe Frame and B Dasher and the Blue Falcon kinda counts and that's it
I think the Parasol should've been used for the SMK combo, just because the course preview art of GBA Luigi Circuit has the drivers with umbrellas on their karts. It still uses the same kart and wheels regardless.
inside drift in this game is nothing but pain winning with it on 150cc is an achievement on itself arguably, but the fact you won a race on 200cc with it? DAMN that’s a new level of impressive

a few metas are a bit inaccurate (going with the time trials meta since those are the only areas of the older games that are still alive) • SMK used bowser/DK jr • MKDD used lightweights on barrel train • MK7 used slick wheels
SMK still has an active competitive scene, courtesy of SMK Championships. It's played in the form of match races (1v1). You are correct on the meta, though, as the players always use Bowser and DK JR. for their top speed stats.

@@oZeaLYT it depends on you playstyle, but most people use Yoshi or Rosalina with Teddy and Rollers. I know the JPG combo gives you more invincibility but pretty much every other stat is a downgrade. I personally use Yoshi Teddy Rollers when playing competitive. If I’m in regionals or globals I’ll just mess around with the combo, try out some weird stuff lol

Nintendo should really release older car parts for example some parts that didn’t return from Mario kart 7 or just straight up cars from the older games
I thought light weights in Double Dash were better because snaking was better and you could actually dodge Blue Shells and Red Shells just with Mini Turbos, my mains were Bowser Jr. and Para Troopa, and I think for Yoshi's Island with Metal Mario, B Dasher, and Hot Monster Wheels, I think the tall hurtbox allowed you to be able to hit that Question Mark Cloud for the Shortcut easier, so maybe tall Kart Frame Models are better for Yoshi's Island and actually more viable super interesting :)

Bruh. First of all, in SMK, Toad and Koopa were identical, so you technically shoulda had to win a race as Toad in that same vehicle. But then, why did you skip MK64 and MKSC? MK64 would’ve been Yoshi in that same kart as SMK. And then MKSC would’ve been Bowser in that same vehicle. For MKDD, the actual best kart is Barrel Train, and the best character to put in it is a bit flexible but generally seen as some combination of a Koopa with either Bowser, Jr or Diddy Kong. After that, Wario or Waluigi with Petey or King Boo on Piranha Pipes is the next best setup. Fair enough on Cucumber for MKDS. MK8 really has no equivalent to Dry Bomber or ROB-LGS.
2 things- mario kart 8 on the wii u actually had a much different meta than 8 deluxe so you couldve done that - luigi/yoshi/male villager weight class on teddy are some of the peak drivers/karts, but rollers are much better than gla, and any glider equivalent to paper glider is better than plane glider. great vid regardless!
I always use Waluigi, Flame Rider, retro off-road tires, and the parachute glider. My alternative combo would be Ludwig, Jet Bike, Slim tires, and for the glider, it varies between the default or parachute. The reasoning for the parachute is because it boosts your acceleration and that tiny upgrade actually helped me win a very close race on Grumble Volcano on the Mario Kart 8 remake.

The DS Yoshi combo is actually really good, I love using the paper gilder for a slight acceleration boost
