In my college freshman accelerated chemistry class, one of the first assignments about units was to convert the speed of light to furlongs per fortnight.

In metric you have unit prefixes to describe the most common orders of magnitude. So once you memorized what kilo, mega and so on means and come across a new unit, like newton or tesla, you intstantly know what a kilonewton or a megatesla is. I don't see any disadvantage here.

They should have went with base 12 when going to metric! The Dozenal system is way better than Decimal.
    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 X E 10
    X: “Dek”
    E: “El”
    10: “Zen” like in dozen
12 aka 1 dozen is a highly composite number(it has more factors than all numbers before 24). ex:
    1, 2, 3, 4, 6 ,12 Compared to 10
    1, 2, 5, 10
The multiplication table is way easier, factoring is easier, fractions are easier, Dozenal point numbers are more accurate than Decimal point of the same place value.
It has other benefits as well, look it up :)
I actually do all my math in Dozenal.

Ooh.....I just became an expert on imperial system.

The imperial system is more related to the world around us: the units mostly refer to certain things, like foot, yard, chain etc.

How is a foot certain? My foot isn't equal as a women's foot. Moreover, a yard is real? How? Is that even a real thing other than an unit of measurement?
I can ensure you that if you are used to think in metric system, the measures make perfect sense. I know what a meter is.

@@drmontorsi7498 The unit measure is inspired by the natural foot soze, the average of it or it is possible to be the size of the foot of the person that invented it. You are thinking in todays term. Try and imagine you do not know how to measure things but you have to invent something from scratch.

Cleary the imperial system is still in everyday use in the USA and it will never change. Does anyone know how many US scientist use imperial for their scientific work?

In the UA-cam settings (gearwheel icon near bottom right) there's an option to play videos at different speeds. There's also the pause facility.
