@@riswanc Thanks for the feedback. I felt I could have been a bit more concise with some of the topics in the review. I did the undervolt through XTU. Do you have the same processor? The HK procs are unlocked so that may help in this case. You can get better thermal performance with of course a cooling pad or raised up. The slots on the bottom are too small, that doesn't help things.
Do more with gaming benchmarks, since it is a laptop gaming and some thermals situation, yeah comparing will be great too mate....ahh that is the HK, i see .. i got the 108750 and no way to undervolt it
4k editing is pretty demanding. The screen is not 4k so you would need a external one if you want to view the full resolution. I find that when I edit my videos I still have stuttering in production, even with a 3090 and 5950x.
Great work on the review :) I Have the older ASUS ROG SCAR III, RTX 2070 and have almost same Thermals except for the GPU part which remains at 75-78C.
Nice review. I see that the CPU was pulling 60+ Watts most of the time during gameplay. Does that happen all the time? You may consider dialing that down a bit. Also, Ultrabookreview have claimed that once the laptop is lifted off the desk (elevated using some book or stand etc), it improves the thermals a lot on this laptop. Can you please confirm this behaviour on your unit too?
With throttlestop you could limit the CPU to 30Watts. This would help with thermals for sure. Also a cooling pad or slight elevation will allow for better airflow. The slits in the bottom are not big enough to allow the air to move for this big 8 core processor. Thanks for watching.

For thin and light the S15 is great. Also the best battery out of the bunch that I have tested. I have not tested the G14 but I have heard great things.

I think you did get a bad unit in terms of thermals, but still interesting. Comparing Ge66 to the m15 R3, what would your pick be in terms of thermals and performance?
I have the i7 10875H with RTX 2070S - I didn't experience any problems with thermals playing AAA games on max settings. Usually play for around 4-6 hrs straight; no thermal throttling encountered. Fans just stay loud. Haven't checked the temps though.
Thankyou for the review. I purchased the 2070 g15 after your review because it was the most performance vs value for money here in Australia. Especially since the rtx 30 series should be coming next year; and possibly AMD with their suspected lower energy consumption GPUs i dont see a point in paying top $ at this point in time. I have not tested that specific model get. It would be similar to the G17 just a bit more premium. If you can get a good deal on it, I have seen these go for $200-$300 less than the G17 when on sale with same specs.

So I feel like legion 7i is better than this one in terms of performance, Thermals everything. I was worried about the thermals in legion. I notice it myself. If you are looking at the Legion 7i get the 240hz panel with Dolby Vision. It is really one of the best panels I have tested. The most noticeable will be in everyday tasks like browsing the web and moving around windows. Most games are not going to go up to 300hz, however there is a few.

Hmm, not sure the conversion but I would say you should be able to get into an Asus G15 or even HP Omen 15. Likely for the money you can get a 2070 Super.

I agreed with the Heat, Noisy fan, and pretty short battery life. But CPU and GPU performance. I think they did okay with that. I don't know about the gamer perspective tho. But for me, I mostly use it for animated film, video, and photo editing playing games sometimes. I think they did pretty well on it. Except for the battery life tho. Hmm, well I have not looked at the Legion 5i yet. That said if it was spec to spec I would go with the G15 over the SCAR 15 myself. I didn't see much benefit for the premium of the SCAR 15, especially if you can get the G15 for cheaper.
@@CETechTips Asian markets have a 5pi variant too, which I think some people are unaware of. Goes up to a 2060, doesn't have a webcam. Haven't seen any big youtuber talking about it.
I have the Scar 3 I7-10875h and rtx 2060 super in it.thermals are ok even whitout undervolt. Cpu goes up to 95 as he sed but dosent stay there it stais mainly in the 80's whit about 40w of power gpu 75-83 at 115w of power but that's depending on the game .i do use a cooler pad dough.Rewiev is fair but i do think he got a bad unit.As for the keystone....could of lived whitout it but its not bad that its there. Rader had G-sinc or optimus insted of it dough 😀.overall im very pleased whit this laptop.
Can optimus be bypassed in this Scar similarly to other laptops using external TV display via HDMI or USB-C? And do u recommend this model specs or a Rog strix g15 2021 ryzen 9 rtx 3060 or should I just go for the advantage edition and not have dlss and rtx advantage ?? @@CETechTips Especially when u uphold the laptop in your had the area is little dark since most of the laptops are blacky we cant see it properly dude. my opinion is just a little bit of lighting will make it better , it gives a highlighted look and people can focus on to the stuff clear and crisp dude . try once with a good lighting (above ur head so the brightness willl give a alot clarity to the meachine ur holding ) and you can compare without lighting too, my opinion bro. be safe

I prefer the S15, it is very close in performance to the SCAR 15 but has double the battery.
Hi - how is the light bleed on the screen? Is the panel relatively low-bleed?
In the unit I reviewed, you can barely notice it. Quite good compared to most!

The m15 is a slimmer chassis and less RGB compared to the G15. The G15 will offer a bit more cooling based on the chassis as a result.

It will be slightly better, but I don't think you will see big enough swing in temps to change my opinion on this.
Well I was thinking about buying this as only other options at this price are GL75 leopard and a little expensive GE66

Thanks, I would say that the G17 offers the most value for the money. Cooling performance I found was pretty similar.
