  • It was the string of murders that shocked the city of Boston in the 1960s. ‘The Boston Strangler’ was the name given to the serial killer who murdered 13 women from 1962 and 1964 around the city of Boston. Although the crimes were attributed to one man, Albert DeSalvo who gave a controversial confession, nobody was ever brought to justice for these crimes. David Wilson joins us in studio with a look at the new Keira Knightly film ‘Boston Strangler’ shining a light on the two female reporters who covered the murders and to break down this unsolved true crime story for us.

Dr. David Wilson always has a very theatrical, oratory style, talking at you and often spelling out the obvious like he's addressing a roomful of non English speaking school children. He would have made a good TEFL or ESOL teacher.

What he knows about these crimes has been known for years he adds nothing to the story

I’ve personally never understood people’s fascination with real crime, there’s enough happening everyday all around the world. We get told about it via news reports but why rehash it because the victims families and friends have to deal with it everyday and that just makes it even more harder for those people (who should be shown consideration first and foremost) to deal with. I’m always on the side of the victims, but I respect the efforts investigators go to when bringing the perpetrators to justice. But I totally disagree with the statement…it’s necessary to make us aware…that’s logic and commonsense surely to keeping people safe.

I've always been fascinated, it's not about the killer as such, their backgrounds - what is it that makes them do what they do and the forensic side of it and how they catch them. I don't mean to sound rude and I'm not trying to be. But if you don't find it fascinating, why did you watch the clip ?

People are fascinated by things that are absolutely out of the ordinary. Human instinct.
