If l did Not have the Word at my fingertips l would undoubtedly fall prey to the things of the Flesh, The Spirit is revived each time l read God's Word and makes the pains of the Flesh easier to overcome. That Same Word led me to Christ over 50yrs ago, Not saying l walked uprightly for those 50yrs but the Truth and Patience of God had kept me alive and Now l do my best to yield to the Holy Spirit every Day. Paul contrasts law and grace in Galatians 5. The fruit of the flesh is being under the law because the law increases sin. The power of sin is the law. Sin is your master under the law. Paul was telling the Galatians they were bewitched and had fallen from grace by succumbing to those teaching the law (i.e. circumcision). Modern Christians are no different when we teach things like obedience to sacraments, creeds, commands, stipulations, traditions, etc. We are keeping people focused on their flesh. It is nothing more than the law repackaged. And it leads to the works of the flesh overwhelming us as sin increases in our lives.

Many, many problems come because of the flesh, but to say that all problems come from the flesh is just not the truth. Paul, in the letter to the Ephesians, instructs believers to fight against evil spirits. Paul is not talking about fighting the flesh in this book; he's talking about fighting spiritual hosts of wickedness, rulers of the darkness of this age, principalities and powers, evil spirits, demons who possess, oppress, and torment believers and unbelievers alike every day. Demons/evil spirits are beings that Christians must fight with faith. Paul literally says that our battle is NOT with flesh and blood. "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:10-17 NIV) Also for example, Paul wanted to come to the Thessalonians, but the devil hindered him. Paul's flesh didn't prevent him from going to Thessalonica. "For we wanted to come to you-certainly I, Paul, did, again and again-but Satan blocked our way." (1 Thessalonians 2:18 NIV) "Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding." The man who was possessed was not having a problem with his flesh; he was possessed by an evil spirit. For this preacher to say, "Everything that's wrong in our life is produced by the flesh," is just not true, clearly. The Holy Bible has many instances of Jesus casting out evil spirits from people. Jesus is a miracle worker, when He walked the earth about 2000 years ago and today. If you only read the book of Galatians by itself, then I can see how someone can come to the conclusion that all a Christian's problems are because of the flesh. However, if you continue reading the Bible and read through the book of Ephesians, then you learn that Christians have to do more than just walk in the Spirit to be successful in our life. We have to fight the good fight of faith against Satan and demons.

He sent Paul to the Gentiles to teach them how to be justified saved and born again. Abraham was made righteous: justified, when he believed. We get messed up because preachers like this don't teach his students and parishioners that abiding in the word of God is the only way to conquer the flesh. It is Christ living through us through his word.. if they preach the truth people wouldn't need to come to their church

Churches preach their particular theological bent(that all have their flaws) and they don't immerse people in the Word. I would ask you, what church have you been to that has more Word and less preaching of man. I in no way would discourage people from gathering together for reading the Word, teaching the Word and worshipping the Word. The Bible tells us not to neglect the public reading of scripture and every church I have ever been to will read about 2 minutes of Word and spend the next 40 minutes jumping back and forth with proof texts trying to make points that aren't even relevant. My post was against preachers who do not disciple people but preach at people and down to people. If people were taught that the have been given a gift apart from any choice of their own and have been given the means where with Jesus Christ Himself can live through us and that means is Himself, the Living Word of God. I'm not sure what theological bent you have and I don't mean to offend anyone except pastors that aren't teaching people what it means to abide in Him. I encourage you to go back and listen to the video in light of what I have said and see if you see the difference of how they approach Christ's sheep. Last time I checked eternal life was free and we are born of God and our Lord, over and over, says, " Do not be afraid, it is I". Preachers always be telling us what not to do but never preach that we are free and if we abide in Him we will know Him. When the Bible says rightly divide it means many things, One is you should be mature enough to divide between infant Christians and mature Christians and you should be able to divide between having the eternal life as a free gift and actually knowing and loving your Lord which comes with time.
